  1. Yep, that's what my son says. Join the Army Rangers...Special ops "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  2. I thought it was: No shit, there I was, on fire, beer in one hand, both cut away handle and reserve handle in the other at 500' with nothing out...thought I was gonna die... And by the way Jerry... if I make an ass out of myself on the internet at least no one knows my real name...well a few do but they ain't telling. No shit there I was...1000 feet goin' terminal with nuthin' in my hands but a silkworm and a knitting needle. Yep, that's some funny shit! "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan

  4. My son, a former Army Ranger, just told me he emailed a guy he saw on tv claiming to be an Army Ranger and called him out on his claims. Apparently this guy was promoting his book and claimed to be a "Ranger". My son did some research, the guy has the "tab" but never was in a Ranger unit. There is a big difference between completing "Ranger School", getting the "tab" to actually being in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Oh, my son didn't get a reply. Imagine that... 6. What has happened to this sport? I remember when you had to save your own life no matter what. Now you have baby sitters that tell you to play around in a big fan and an electronic gizmo on your back that will open your chute if you forget! In the old static line progression you could be unstable but you have better pulled or you weren't going to progress very far. Yeah the Tandem and AFF progressions have let more people experience the sport and the gear is much safer also easier to use but you're still jumping out of a plane for fucks sake what could go wrong? If you like a strict focus on safety this is the wrong sport for you. A person with a strict focus on safety wouldn't jump out of a plane, it ain't safe. (edited to add) sorry about the thread drift. Yeah I turned away a couple. As I remember it was also a strength issue. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  7. It is obvious that with all the time you had you could have pulled out your hook knife cut the offending line and landed the main there by reducing the risk of losing your camera/helmet, cut away handle, reserve handle, main parachute, free bag and paying for a reserve repack. Cheaper by far to replace one line.* *Never take advice seriously you read on the intertubes from posters you don't know. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  8. It's called DORKZONE...anyone know why? By the way...Rhetorical Question "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  9. That says it all! I voted no. I stack the deck in my favor. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  10. Sluggo, thanks for the update on what's happening behind the scenes. It's nice to see an informative post on the current Cooper search. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  11. +2 The entertainment value of this thread is declining by the inverse proportion of posts by Jo and Jerry squabbling. QUADE let snowmman back please "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  12. Sluggo, I've already said I read this thread for entertainment and that is the funniest shit I've read in a while! "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  13. Thanks Bruce for the serious reply. I have acquired an interest in theoretical and quantum physics in my old age. I am definitely a layman in that field but enjoy the reading I do. I'm in the process of reading your papers, very interesting, thanks. I've had a couple of very interesting ESP experiences, one a 3,000 mile spontaneous communication where I immediately made a phone call and it was confirmed to the shock of both myself and the other party. Kind of freaky. The RV interest came from me being fairly immobile after back surgery and spent time on the internet looking into unexplainable events leading me to RV. I have never tried RV but have read the protocols. HERE is a link to some work on spinning superconductors creating a measurable gravity field in the lab if you haven't already seen this. Doing some work with RV on the Cooper case can't be as hard as tramping through the death woods looking for stuff that I agree is probably in the water. By the way georger mentioned ESP and just got me thinking. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan

  15. When I was at Eloy the oldest person that I've seen pass AFF level 1 was an 80 year old man. He was a former combat pilot who had one emergency jump, round I assume. He did one tandem then took the FJC on his 80th birthday. I did the video of his jump and he did damn good. He fell to one knee on landing IIRC and was disappointed that he didn't stand it up. Better than I'll be at that age I'm sure! "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  16. It's okay to talk to martians it's when they talk back you need to be concerned georger. Speaking of ESP, has anyone tried the "remote viewing" technique to find Cooper? Ingo Swann was the original CIA remote viewer at Stanford in the 70's. He wrote a book "Penetration" that can be found online about some of his work with the spooks. I can't say I believe everything but a good story anyway. I wonder if they had him work the case? It's the right time frame. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  17. I jumped the C-123k at Eloy in the mid 90's also. I remember sitting in the Bent Prop next to the owner/pilot having a drink and him lamenting about smoking a jet engine that was going to cost him $20,000 just to get the plane out of Eloy. I don't think he made any money off that little venture. I don't remember his name but it might have been Ray Petkow as I do remember him mentioning the Con Air movie. HERE and HERE are some links to info on the plane used in Con Air. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  18. I'll toast to that all you evil skydivers... wait, I think I hear Satan..nope just someone sucking it low and swoopin it in. is that you Cooper...? 666... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  19. What is that sound I hear? Oh, it's babies crying "waaah"... "I don't like what someone posted on the internet and now it ruined my whole life." 666... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  20. Hey Sheridan, I'm hangdiver, don't feel alone about being confused. Jerry thought he knew me. Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for your contributions to social and political awareness. Also thank you for blazing the way for all skydivers that came after you. Georger railed on me for bothering you with the request for some skydiving history/stories and now he himself is demanding answers from you about your whereabouts during the Cooper thing. Some people have no shame. Blue Skies "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  21. So long snowmman, it's been real. Hope to see you at a dropzone soon. BSBD "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  22. To all, I am not Sheridan (Pete). I just happen to live 45 minutes from Santa Rosa. I'm kinda old but not that old late 50's. I have no idea what you want Jerry but you can pm me and I'll see if it means anything. I am on this thread for fun, entertainment, and to gain some knowledge and would like to remain anonymous. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  23. My request for information from a former FBI Cooper suspect on the DB Cooper thread about skydiving is on topic. I certainly wouldn't go knocking on his door even though I will be in Santa Rosa this afternoon... hmmm, nope no interest, I've got better things to do there. Not to you Orange1 or anyone else with a grain of reality, but this is the internet folks. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  24. Hi quade, just trying to get in on page 666? And georger thinks this thread is nothing but trouble... It's headed for page 666. What about that would mean trouble? "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  25. georger, I don't think my asking for information on the internet has one thing to do with how someones life is being affected. NO ONE is being forced against their will to read this thread with the exception of quade. Maybe SI has some interrogation facility that has this thread on audio 24/7 but that's it. Everyone has control over their own actions and are responsible for their own emotions no matter what the input. That's my thoughts on the subject. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
