  1. I'm not in favor of illegals, or guest worker programs. I'm just pointing out that you are competing against people who are living here, with similar expenses for whatever level of lifestyle. How much do you make, compared to what you were making 6 years ago? I can hire a Stanford PhD (more than I have) consultant for electronic design, at a rate that is 62.5% of what I was charging 6 years ago. With inflation, less than half. 6 years ago I was making over 40 grand in the factory until Ingersol Rand decided it was better to send the work to Mexico. I worked on my own doing contract siding. Often we got beat out to out of state Mexican crews that travel. They'll do a $5000.00 job for $1000.00. Where with us, there was 3 of us. One cutting and two hanging. It would take us 2 to 3 days to do a regular size home. With the Mexican crews of 20 or more the job is done in a few hours and they move on to the next. Their work is almost always crappy. As for similar expenses. I don't believe so as many of these guys will live 20 or more in a small cramped apartment. Many do not pay taxes nor do they have the normal expenses that the local people have. These guys have no intentions of calling your town home. They are there for the quick buck and then move on. When their work falls apart, good luck getting it redone by them as they are long gone. These guys do not give a crap about codes and will shortcut most jobs with shoddy workmanship. For the record, I did have to go on disability for an illness but, I do work and pay taxes. I run a small home based embroidery and t-shirt printing business. Hopefully it will get me off of disability. I think it is really up to the community to stop hiring these people. Don't hire them and they will go away. It pays in the long run to use union. 2. I was going to mention such. The last site I worked, the mexicans would often shit and piss right on the floors of the apartment complex we were building. A lot of these guys would live in the vans they came in right on the site. It looked and smelled like a ghetto. I'm glad the union busted those pricks and booted them off the site. I really dispised working next to someone who wasn't union and refused to speak english. I dispised even more when we had to do rework that wasn't our job in order to do our job. You pay someone $5.00 an hour you get $5.00 an hour worth of crap. With the union, if you do crappy work, you're gone. Booted off the site. Illegals don't give a crap about local build codes. The union does. You want quality, hire union. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  3. Materials and labor at the same location -- one stop shopping. I say fuck the construction unions. At least in your job, you don't have to compete with someone 12000 miles away, where one can live as well on 20% of the salary. You're against standards and good wages? Hmmm, I am supposing you are then for crap work and dirt pay? These people steal jobs and put honest contractors out of work. I did contract siding for a couple of years. Often we were under bid by someone and would lose the job we hoped to get. We would drive by the house we bid on to see who got the job. Wasn't ever a surprise to se 20 or more mexicans doing the job. These guys would work for less than $50.00 a square while the rate was near $200.00 a square. These people are stealing what should had been ours. Hard to pay bills when a person from another country is grabbing the work for chump change. These people put Americans out of work. I'm sick and tired of hearing how the illegals are only trying to better their lives. They should go back where they came from and help better their own country. We can do just fine without them. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  4. It pisses me off because all my family came thru Ellis Island many yrs. ago. LEGALLY. And worked their asses off to help make this country what it is. (well WAS) I would guess that many of them are or were union, paid taxes, spent the money in the community, sent their kids to the schools they paid for. It's the local people that supports a community, not the illegals that send the money south of the border. My own family has been here since before 1800. I worked in Mexico for 7 months. I was contracted to inspect the railroad system. I would see boxcars and gondolas packed with mexicans heading for the border (I have pictures of them and should post them). The guys we worked with down there dispised the border jumpers and saw them as traitors to their own country. They saw them as people who were not willing to help their own country. Illegals are traitors to their country and an enemy of the working American. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  5. Hmmm. Not so. Construction sites that use these guys undermine the attempts of the unions to build a strong economy. When builders use illegals and those who are willing to give up there time for pennies they are robbing the locals as much of the wages leave the country not to be redistributed into the local economy. Also, much of the work is sub-par and not at all up to union standards. The St.Louis carpenter council has hit construction sites that bus in mexicans and have shut them down until the builder has to use the LOCAL union workers. The last jobsite I worked was shut down due to the mexicans. Very few of those guys spoke english. Their work was pure crap. We did so much rework that it pushed everything back and ran into more time that it should had been. Many of those job thieves were arrested for being illegal and those who weren't were denied union membership and kicked off of the site. The guy who owned the project was fined. I think the dirtbag should had been jailed. Union is strong in the St.Louis area and the high quality of craftmanship shows this to be true. Some of you people may see it as racism but, to the guy who pays union dues, lives in the community, sends his kids to the school he pays for and spends his money in his community, he sees it as standing up for his family, his job and his community. 6. You do realize that it is tradition to drink the blood of your first deer? Now, you wouldn't want to go against tradition? DRINK UP!!!!!! I actually know someone who did it. Freaking gross "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  7. Someone who follows without questioning. Whether you believe and trust your leader you should still question their intent and your willingness to follow. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  8. I could only imagine that when these regs were written that this unfornute outcome wasn't considered. A lot of these guys have a hard way to go and need every dime they have and can get. Injury recieved on the job (combat, normal duty) should exempt them from the payback clause. I hope someone in congress sees fit to correct this and give the injured vets everything they deserve. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  9. I'm not bitching. I found it amusing that he would waste the time of the drug task force and the taxpayers money after pulling me over for going a few miles over the speed limit. For the record, it was yes sir, no sir until he pulled the "if you have nothing to hide" bullshit. When he handed me my ticket it was "Fuck You". No law against telling an asshole to fuck off. I'm done with you. If you post a reply to this, expect none in return. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  10. He was out of bounds to request the search during a simple traffic stop. He had no reason to suspect anything was going on. He never witnessed any illegal activity on my part. He was merely hoping to get lucky fishing where there were no fish. Oh, and I am not bitching. How am I the reason? Becaused I forced them to play their hand. He didn't need to call for the dog on a speeding ticket (got knocked down to a parking fine). He was out of bounds. Final. I was right. He was wrong. I won. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. That was not implying that you were a "whore". I was detained on drug suspicion due to the refusal. That is legal. The drug dogs sniffing the outside of the car was also legal. I could had persued a civil case but, the cops word is almost always taken over that of the person filing the complaint. I did ask my lawyer about it and he advised against it. Nope, nothing more than I refused him to allow a physical search of my car. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. I doubt anyone ever reads the fine print. Seems one should hire an agent before consideration of re-enlistment. Yes we do. The fine print is quite simple (for reenlistment bonuses). If we can't finish up the time for whatever reason, we pay back, or DFAS stops payment, of our bonuses. In the Navy, we get our bonus in installments. If we are able to fullfill half our contract, then we are only allowed to collect half the bonus and owe the rest back. In another case, we were able get rid of a complete dirtbag worthless POS. When he was kicked out for having too many Physical Readiness failures (Food for freedom program), The DOD took all his separation pays to get their Reenlistment bonus back. He left the Navy with 300 dollars to his name. Does the wording apply to those injured in the line of duty? My rating as an HT2 in 84 was getting $40,000.00 for a six year re-up. It was spread out over the full six. I refused it and got out. Made much more as a civilian in the NDT field. I understand taking the money back if one is ousted for criminal reason or an off the job injury (motorcycle, skydiving, rock climbing...)but, for an injury recieved during combat... that is entirely wrong. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  13. First, I never insinuated that you were a "whore" as you put it. I don't even know how you came to that conclusion. Second, I was detained on drug suspicion because I refused a physical search of my vehicle. A refusal gives the police the right to detain a person as it leads them to believe that you are hiding something. My stand was that I did nothing to warrant suspicion that would lead to a physical search of my vehicle. I was merely over the speed limit as pretty much the same as everyone else going down that road. I was only unlucky to get hit by radar and pulled over. There was nothing that would lead a person to believe that I was carrying anything. Nothing out of the ordinary. My hair is long but, nothing unusual about that. I have a lot of visible tattoos but, nothing unusual about that. My car is hotrodded but, nothing unusual about that. In fact, I'm just an ordinary person who looks like anyone else in the crowd. If the cop went on a power trip due to I refusing his request then he did it at the expense of the community. He was in the wrong. The search they did do was a drug dog search. They walked him around the car several times and nothing happened. No hit. They never got inside my car. I was given my speeding ticket and away I went. The search they did was the perimeter of the vehicle. That is legal and there is nothing one could say that would stop the search. I was told that I was being detained on drug suspicion. I was not under arrest but, still was not free to leave. I could had easily let him search and possibly been on my way or I could had let him search and been on my way to jail due to him possibly tossing a bag of crack into my car. Not taking that chance. I have never allowed a search and never had any trouble due to refusing but for this one time. See it how you want. I see it as holding my ground and not caving in to allow him to physically search my vehicle for no reason. Besides, I had nothing better to do and even if I had, I still would had refused him. Are you calling me stupid? Sounds like a thinly disguised p.a.. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  14. Bullshit! Would you allow the police to search your car during a routine traffic stop? I've forced a cop to call in drug dogs and a good number of officers after a refusal to allow him to search my car. 3 to 4 hours later and most likely a lot of the taxpayers money being wasted, they fucktard gave me my ticket and i was out of there laughing my ass off at what a bunch of Barney Fifes they were. They cop told me that I could had saved them a lot of time had I only let him search my car. I told him to fuck himself, took my ticket and left. My lawyer got it reduced to a parking ticket. Sure, I could had let that bozo search my car but why? And while you were laughing at them they were, and probably still are, laughing at you for wasting 4 hours of your own time. But that's your right, isn't it? I had nowhere to be. I could had sat all day while someones house was being broke into or a liquor store was being robbed. Never mind the crack dealers that run the area I was in. Much more important to waste the taxpayers money to search a guy during a routine traffic stop. The area I was in is Lucas & Hunt and Natural Bridge Road (Those from St.Louis know those area for what it is). This is a gang ridden part of St.Louis county that borders the city. Mostly ghetto. The police station is above a liquor store in a converted apartment building. The cops in this area are every bit as criminal as some of the local residents. I was coming from Dawson Engineering where I kept my 57 Chevy pro-mod. I was there at least 3-4 times a week and my El camino was well known by the local cops. I was pulled over for being a few miles over the speed limit. Fine, no problem. When the dip wad asked if a had any grenades, missles or rocket launchers I laughed at him. He asked if I would consent to a search. I told him "No". I asked if he would give me my ticket so I can leave. He said "No". He then gave me the crap line "If you have nothing to hide then you should have no problem with me searching your car". Well, I had nothing to hide and I do have a problem with a cop going through my stuff. I have a problem with the fact that cops do "find" dope that was not in the car. I have a problem with stuff that may dissappear (money, CD's, whatever) during a search. He had absolutely no right to search. There was no odor of marijuana, no odor of alcohol, no visable sign of countraband. No nothing. I'm sure he saw my car several times a week at the Dawsons as I always parked in front along Lucas & Hunt. My 1980 El camino is a very recognizable car being black and silver with Super Sport on the doors. It's the only one I've ever seen around St.Louis. Personally, I was surprised when he called in the county drug force and dogs. Was he doing it because he believed I had drugs? or was he only being a prick hoping that just maybe he might find a roach? Either way, I was within my rights to refuse him and he stepped out of bounds holding me and wasting thousands of tax dollars in the hope that he may look like a hero. "HEY!!!!, Look!!!! I got a whole joint off of the streets!!!! The drug war is WORKING and we are WINNING!!!!!" While they wasted their time on me... crack dealing was going on just down the road... business as usual with no interuption. But hey... KelliJ if you are so against our rights... I am assuming that you would have no problem with be searched regardless of the situation? Your car? Your house? How about your body? I stand my ground against an unwarrented search. You on the otherhand seem to be ever so anxious to bend over and spread em. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

  16. That's not all that is wrong. A lawsuit had to be filed for benefits. Iraq veterans sue government over health-benefits delays Tuesday, July 24, 2007 3:40 AM By Hope Yen ASSOCIATED PRESS WASHINGTON -- Frustrated by delays in health care, injured Iraq war veterans accused VA Secretary Jim Nicholson in a lawsuit of breaking the law by denying them disability pay and mental-health treatment. The lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, filed yesterday in federal court in San Francisco, seeks broad changes in the agency as it struggles to meet growing demands from veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Suing on behalf of hundreds of thousands of veterans, it charges that the VA failed to provide prompt disability benefits, add staff to reduce wait times and boost services for post-traumatic stress disorder. The lawsuit also accuses the VA of deliberately cheating some veterans by allegedly working with the Pentagon to misclassify post-traumatic stress disorder claims as pre-existing personality disorders to avoid paying benefits. The VA and Pentagon have denied such charges. "When one of our combat veterans walks into a VA hospital, then they must see a doctor that day," said Paul Sullivan, executive director of Veterans for Common Sense, which filed the lawsuit. "When a war veteran needs disability benefits because he or she can't work, then they must get a disability check in a few weeks. "The VA has betrayed our veterans," Sullivan said. VA spokesman Matt Smith said yesterday that he could not comment on a pending lawsuit. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
