Okay, I did your research for you. The Great Migration @ Wiki From 1914 to 1950, there was a massive migration out of the South into idustrial cities in the North, primarily for economic reasons. Then, in the 1980s began another migration back into the South. However, the destination was large, urban areas in the South (primarily Atlanta) which do not have the same Deep South personality, and really has no bearing on the strong racial prejudice in what non-urban areas.
