New Closing System for Factory Divers
matthewcline replied to matthewcline's topic in Gear and Rigging
Nice paint. I started the thread about the Factory Diver, but the slide snap will be on all the Full Face Helmets (my understanding minus the camera ones). Then in my response to the comment of a visor that flipped right off, I looped the Oxgyn's in to the discussion. Sorry for the confusion. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. What if one of the pieces was backflying and the other not? Which then would be the legal set up? ((yes, this is an unlikely hypothetical just for discussion sake - But I wonder if the key point of the setup is the camera 'view' of the block, or that each outside person is holding the same side of their partner)) If Black Majik was still together they would do it! The Systems became Legal, but Jumping with them was still experimental, correct? (Based on the FAR's in the U.S.) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

New Closing System for Factory Divers
matthewcline replied to matthewcline's topic in Gear and Rigging
I hear this from time to time. I have had one Factory Diver for 14 years and one Oxgyn for 3+ years. I have used other Factory Divers and Oxgyns as well. Never have I had a lens open or come off. I have seen them assembled incorrectly and that has led to lens issues. It may just be a bit of hasty replacement work and not double checking it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. Any religious or moral imperative that is imposed and/or enforced by a religious or secular government qualifies as sharia. As my signature line says, the beginning of wisdom is to first call things by their right names, and sharia is precisely what drug testing is because it forces compliance with the religiously- and/or politically-derived mandates of a totalitarian authority that have no relationship to objective reality -- and until individuals such as yourself get that, "this is what we have" will continue to be your justification for going along with it. Sorry if that scares you, but truth can be scary -- especially when accepting and understanding it takes you outside your comfort zone. Your taking it out of context, that belongs in SC. Things in context can be discussed here. Matt http://www.religioustolerance.org/islsharia.htm An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Most of what you see is sewn in as part of the canopy. Flight Concepts and PD are two of the companies who do this for the Military Teams. Flight Concepts makes mos tall the Demo Canopies and PD the RW, VRW, Swoop and Tandem Canopies. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Since I am not and Employment Attorney nor a Theologian, I can not say I automatically agree or disagree with you. I THINK you may be wrong though based on what is referred to as the POPE Rule (Post Offer Post Employment) and it has stood up in court numerous times. The Sharia thing, come on man. Your more articulate (and smarter) than to need to use that scare tactic. AGAIN, I think we have drugs that need not be illegal, that are illegal. I also think they should be legal and follow rules much like Alcohol. But until then, this is what we have. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Cool video!, Info, entertainment and Bloopers all in one! But Strong still has a "third riser" on the Tandem I gathered? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

It is not my company nor yours it is the Employers, no one has made an actual argument that says an Employer can not make it a condition of employment at that Employers company . Some companies will get discounts in insurance, for some, it will be required for insurance. I have heard many for why one would not work there and a few that it is part of a Government collaboration. But some who have made that argument volunteer to take part in a testing program, since they want to have a job. I too think we have drugs that are illegal that should not be. I think they should be legalized and follow rules like alcohol use. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I started in the DOD system in '86. It has gotten better and now "false" positives are a rarity. But it is a condition of employment. The condition being, do not do Illegal drugs and do not come to work drunk. I still have not heard a good argument why an Employer can't have drug testing as a condition of employment. If the test is suspect it can be challenged, just like the old DOD ones. Some one mentioned a "DOT" program, what is it? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. Student/Training Question
matthewcline replied to GregJackP's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Greg, Welcome to the Forums and the sport! You will find many of us "Old Paratroopers" in here. Some may even have served with you along the way. I would go with JP (Diablopilot) on the jump recommendations. Yep Static line is where you have some experience and trust, but the progression JP is Talking about will be just fine for you too. Not every thing from your Mil jumps will cross over, but some items will, PLF's (you wont have to learn too much there, a little, sure) and our five points of performance are a bit different , but we still have them! But if you have questions or need "translating" feel free to ask any of us Old Paratroopers. We ain't hard to find. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. Well, being a formally licensed racer myself (WERA SR AM 505), you will adapt quickly to the differences. Let the DZ provide all the gear, as they are supposed to, while you in your student phase. Once your off student status and starting to decide where you want to go in the sport then ask any and all about gear. Be prepared for a lot of heavy opinions, like Yamaha versus Honda (we all know Honda is the way to go). Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Maybe as these rounds only counted for bragging rights they where trying some thing new? I think the meet shows this is going to be another fun year in 4-way. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I repeat - Why pick an age at all? It isn't about age, it is about liability, and a waiver. If an age must be mentioned, mention the age of legal majority for whatever the jurisdiction. Why mention a specific age in the first place? I do believe the wording is "Age of Majority" in the letter signed by the Manufacturer's to USPA and that is what is in UPT's end user agreement IRC. No, the local FSDO says they have no age requirement implied in the FAR. Same for a Physical. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
