I usually explain to the passenger it is the same as whe nthey fly united, after they get done saying "oh shit they have engines" we get a laugh and I just hang in the brakes as you would under your bigger solo rigs, you know old school but it owkrs for me. I have only 650 tandems though. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

If the rig is owned by the military a military rigger must pack it. If the rig is bought commercially it must be packed by an FAA certified rigger (it can be a military rigger FAA cerified) From our local FSDO office. somebody out there jumping a rage form FCI.
matthewcline replied to palejo's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have been jumping a rage 130 and Riot 107 lately. The rage was reveiwed by myeslf last summer. You can find it in the gear reviews I believe. The canopy flies solid and performs extremely well. It opens slow but controlled, due to its nose design with the one piece top and bottom skin per cell. This canopy is in the high perfomance catagory, so please if you have low numbers of hi-perf experience get coaching and take the FCI and PD advice, open high and learn the canopy before you add it to your vRW and RW jumps. Land strait in and learn its plane and flare points before you start adding speed generating manuevers to your landings. You'll have fun, I know I have. Actually the closest actual usable Wind tunnel would be AAC in west NC. It is pretty good just a bit tough to get used to the lack of verticle references (aka a Wall) for the regular skydivers. If your a "tunnel rat" it is as good if not better than any other tunnel out there. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

You can always get a two tone grip. Have the front silver and the back black. It will not wash so much in the video and as you get faster it will be less of an issue. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

They shouldn't let this fucker even wear the uniform...
matthewcline replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
I think the thread should be locked or put back on track. The subject killed fellow soldiers in a cowardly attack while his victims slept. After his cowardly act he decided to cower behind his mother and her assertion that he was at risk becuase of his religion. But he had in fact planned on this type of attack many years in advance, like a soldier he took his opertunity when he saw it. He planned, executed and tried to hide his actions, not the display of an insane person, but one who is aware and capable of understanding. A persons sexuality is his right, as is his religion. I stand on the wall so he can have that right, and as long as it hurts no one physically I do not care what he does in his bed. I do how ever not believe a person should have further rights based on his religion, race , sexuality or monetary status, call me an idealist. Maybe one day we can have that total equality Dr. King so wanted for ALL of us. So now that I re-side tracked the thread, may Akbar find forgivenes from his god when he meets him. I can not find in me to forgive as of yet, and that will be my sin to deal with. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
What we do in all RW jumps is turn 180 degres from formation center. For some it would be more expaditous to turn left as it may be a shorter turn, but the end result is the same we turn from the formation's center and track to gain reasonable horizontal seperation. I go straight to the dealer. But I am usually buying for the Team and not for myself. In your case I would recommend a dealer or knowledgable person you TRUST. It is usually easier whe nyou can put aface to the other half of the deal. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Having been in the camp during the attack and working with 1 of the dead and several of the woudned prior to and after, please let me say this; His fears and religion became an issue AFTER his capture and was brought up mostly by his mother in the press. There probably lots of info we heard at the time that did not come out during the trial, such is the Amercian legal system. What I know from being there and what I have heard has no place here. The fact is he took an oath, violated it by stealing arms and munitions, killed his fellow service men and then tried to use his religion as a plea for mental instability. Thank You, Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
Awesome! Let me know if you want help, I retire in less than 2 years and have 620 + Tandems myself. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I have past students who now have been my Instructor! I have students who have gone on to earn every rating, compete or jump for world famous Demo teams. It is a thrill to see folks you help to get started go so far in the sport you both love! Iam envious of all my students, they have the first jump excitement and wide eyed wonder that I hope to be able to recapture here real soon! (once I retire from the Army and just jump all week!) Hey all this is just a bit of info on a test we just did last friday. 2-12 year old Cypress'. Each dropped from 2000' AGL (over Ft. Campbell Kentucky) Each device was in a standard sport rig and packed in the reserve just as you or I would jump it. The rig was attached to a 150lbs kit bag to simulate an unstable and unconcious jumper. Each device fired as predicted 750' AGL and the PRO-Tracks that happed to be in each main lift web recorded a fully inflated landable parachute at 500' AGL.

Rihno, For my suits I always used a gutted filed jacket wit hthe hood sewn to the soldiers and the matching field pants. The initial suit is heavier but in the end I did not have to reinforce the knees and elbows and that made it lighter but just as strong. I also preferdthe hood as I tend not to like the bonnie cap all camoed out and catching on things in an upright stalk. I look for the old olive green jackets and pants so I can adapt them to what ever dominant color is in the environment. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. Relative Workshop Factory Tours
matthewcline replied to egons's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just before heading to Iraq I got the tour from Bill Himself and highly recomend it. RWS has some unique rigs on hand, if your nice you may even get a piece to add to your word robe. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
Had one and fell out of love with it real fast. It just didn't have the construction and strength to last long. It looked ten years old in 6 months. I have a Wings that is 4 years old with 500 jumps and looks like it is brand new still. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
