  1. No, we are most certainly NOT. I disagree. -one of my friends is a 18year old mother of two African American that was orphaned at age 16. She is a sophmore in college. She is seizing the opportunity despite the challenges.
  2. Counterpoint. So. If you are a sleazy CEO who rips off your shareholders and pensioners while getting millions for doing it and it put you in the way upper tax bracket and you have all those loopholes to avoid paying taxes, should you have to kick some down or do you deserve Big Bubba? If you didn't break any laws, then neither. If the CEO violated some written corporate governance, then give it back to the company. Otherwise, a clerk in the mail room, doing his job isn't entitled to a dime of anyone else's compensation, regardless of how outrageous it is. True. If that company signed that contract and allowed that CEO that take home amount.... the company (including the share holders) can't complain about the deal. BUT... they also shouldn't be bailed out by the government because of that contract either. But... hey. Lets just take all from those who have it and give it to those that don't. Why this pisses me off so much: My sisters and I all have similiar intellect. All were given the same emphasis on education by my parents. My older sister chose to join the carnival after failing out of college (cuz she partied a bit). My younger sister has been hoping for some guy to come and sweep her off her feet and just take care of her. I chose to go to college on a scholarship, went into the military, then went back to medical school on my own finances and now.... I have been told by my sisters that the "deserve" to get a certain amount each month from me! Now... if I CHOSE to give .... that's one thing. But the EXPECTED contribution is intolerable. This "redistrubution" is disgusting.

  4. Not that my opinion of her has any bearing on her reality at all, but I think that overall she's a good person. I think she's good at acting (I enjoy her movies). I definitely think she's hot (I wouldn't kick her out of MY bed). And I think she seems to be nice to others (adopting and raising other peoples children) What's to get sick to death of? Now... talking about the tabloid rags? Those I'm sick of.
  5. wow. I don't think I'll actually leave. But I will consider a shrug. Why should I do all the work? I should be able to walk out on my responsibilities, go broke and just live off the scabs too.... shouldn't I? Or maybe instead of welfare (cuz we all can't get the hand outs that are promised).... I'll just apply at Hooters. Honestly though - IF he gets elected... I don't think it will be the BRIGHT AND SUNNY CHANGE that some are expecting.
  6. I know you're right, but it just seems like ........ I don't know how to word this well This election has placed a lot of pressure on the US population. And a population that isn't too politically savvy at that. Cute commercials or catch phrases. Slogans and advertising. How many people TRULY know the differences in the two differing health care proposals (The Partisan Divide. NEJM 359;8) or rights / restrictions (not just the 2nd, but all personal rights) The US government has become too complex and to taxing on the people... and now the people have to think about the impact of this election on Herr Schmidt and Nushi Chen.... I still think that Douglas Adams had it all right.
  7. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm glad that it all went well
  8. For that to happen, we'd have to care Well.... ummm.... by voting on that site or even voicing an opinion, don't you? Honestly though, WTF do you care? (not you specifically Shrop, but in general) It's not like I worry about who the PM is or who might be running Oz? I don't have a big concern over Germany's leadership either. Why should a non-US resident care about who I think would be best for the future of my country? Do you really think that McCain or Obama will change your life in any way? Either positive OR negative? Whereas my life will be GREATLY impacted by which candidate gets elected. . . . from the money, to the medicine, to the personal rights
  9. Lisa {{{{{{{HUGS!}}}}}}} I hope that you have a WONDERFUL day! May it include smiles and laughter! May you know the love of family and friends! May you feel truly special in a very normal way! - and that Jack guy.... he won't treat you right. You need to party with the Cap'n!!
  10. It'll all be paid off though.
  11. Thank you for your help with spelling and the cut/paste from the dictionary. You are just confirming my statement.
  12. Part of my DISDAIN for stupidity is where the source of that stupidity derives from. An opinion is like an asshole.. everyone has one.. some have boils on them.. and still they pontificate endlessly and like good little monkeys throw around more poo.. to see if any of it actually sticks. Personally I am fairly sure that their poo like most poo stinks. bolded for emphasis.
  13. Part of my keeping my opinion to myself has to do with the arrogant distain that some on this forum have with opinions that vary from theirs. It seems that some of the educated don't like questions.
  14. Stick to lampshades on your head at parties. JUST the lampshade?!
  15. I can cite an exception to your rules! Dermoid ovarian cysts can have teeth... and she better not be able to touch her ovary with her tongue!
  16. I aint sain nuttin about me.... But my money comes from that LONG list of women
  17. Ahhhhh... not too much. Just a minor lil quiz coming up. (where's that cabin in the Black Hills when I need to hide from the world?! Remote... accessible only with an atv.... or hiking the deer paths.)
  18. So... I went to a movie this weekend and it made me wonder If I wanted to break away from the control and monitoring of the government/the man/ the system, could I or would I WANT to?! Being a doctor, there will always be government involvement (certification, DEA numbers, . . . ) Owning a house or even land (even in the more remote areas) includes taxes and zoning/regulations. Travel includes a passport. Could you give it all up to life a more "private" life?
  19. Interesting. Thank you for posting it - I don't often search the Annals of Emergency Medicine. I followed his logic, but I can see what you mean about it being an odd analogy if you're not a skydiver
  20. Happy Birthday!! I hope that this year brings you much: love, friendships and adventures! May you have time to kick back, relax, take a deep breathe.... but never get bored of the times and the stories. Remember, life goes fast. Who ever has the best stories at the end wins.... so get working on those with a cool "and one time, on my birthday, ...."
  21. Don't vote - if this is already posted, sorry. I did a search and didn't find anything

I never got a walker. You must be special!! But then again, I haven't had to get a TOTAL knee yet. Just a lil clean up and reline.
  23. More than one gets it. And as repulsed as I am by the horrid act, mob vengeance is not a responsible societal act. It's a witch hunt. My gut says that she did it. It disgusts me to think of the how... but those thoughts are just speculation. I don't KNOW what truly happened. I think the children deserve to have their story told, to have their deaths noted (and mourned), and to have their attacker punished... but it takes a trial to accomplish that.
  24. well. then it's about time that she made an "honest man" of you.
