WHOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRE!!!!!!!!! You say that as if it's a bad thing?! Me, personally.... keeps my job necessary. Besides, when you love it, can it really be bad? Karen

I think they are a lucky couple. (Especially if pic 895 wasn't a stunt double.) It's nice to hear of young families taking vacations, enjoying nature, spending time with children, living life.... Definately a lucky, lucky couple

Who ever said that the world of medicine (pt, nurses, doctors) wasn't filled with evil.... as well as the angelic Seriously though, I'm glad she's watching over you and "encouraging" you (evil or otherwise) to keep moving forward. Your courage and spirit is so inspiring! Karen -

TS, good luck with your journey today. I hope that the road isn't too lonely and that you realize that even though you have to trudge through shit.... there are others willing to walk beside you. (or give you shit-kickers) on a less fluffy note.... ya gotta wonder.... "going through some shit".... who came up with that analogy. and when is Walt going to post a pic for photo representation. I might be going over to visit this summer. Haven't decided yet. I know that I'm taking a couple of months off before starting work, but just too busy finishing stuff now to actually plan for vacation stuffs. I would love to visit Stonehenge (as does everyone, I'm sure)

Gail, As you know... not a man here, but BIG RED WARNING flags going up. I have to agree with most of the posts on here already. I'm thinking that he definately would like to try to get to know you better than "just friends." That's not to say that he isn't a gentleman and if you said sex isn't going to happen that he wouldn't be ok with that. Rather, this is just a caution to you that placing yourself in that situation could be bad... in many levels. Not just with feeling influenced into doing something that you have no intention on doing, but the possiblity of some more serious dangers. You've only talked with him for two hours. That's not enough time to really trust him while you're sleeping and vulnerable. Could it be platonic? Hell yeah. He could be the most wonderful guy in the world. He could be just offering a situation that would allow you and him to spend the most time together and get to the dz at the earliest convience. But...... I don't think that he would be upset if more happened in that hotel room. (wink wink) Karen

Love is something deeper than a friendship, a passion, or carnal lust. It is a connection that makes everything else seem insignificant but at the same time adds meaning to the simplest of events/items. I have had two true Anam Cara's in life.... and understand the importance of Love and Friendship. Karen

How to make a major life decision in the next 48 hours
kbordson replied to kelel01's topic in The Bonfire
You're DEFINATELY not too old. I started med school at 26. Some om my rotations in 3rd and 4th year were with the other med school in town which is a 6year right out of High School type.... some of those students on the rotation weren't even 21. It was a bit hard for them to relate to some of the patients (especially the psych ones) cuz they had limited experience except just school and more school. Don't let age have any influence! Like noted before. You'll be 35 wheter you go to Medical School or not. Might as well go. Use every minute in this life to learn the most and do the best! Karen -
Obviously a higher dose of the prescribed treatment is necessary! (some is good... more is better) What - No CPR? What is this? You want CPR over more sex?! You must be sick!!

Congrats!!! It will be work. LOTS of work. And some disappointment. But you need to try everything, cuz it will be over too soon.... and it would suck to sit back and think "what if I had...." Call me if you ever have any questions. Karen -
Best listen to this... she *is* a doctor. Bold music sounds in the back ground. Sexy Dr comes swooping in (ok... only 130 jumps, maybe not swooping...) Long whitecoat cape with the letters **VD** Vagina Doc (not veneral disease) to the rescue!!!

lots of sex. (if it doesn't help the cold, will make you at least less desperate... but that was a different issue wasn't it?)

How to make a major life decision in the next 48 hours

When in residency... most (unless they get a hardship) start paying them back. In residency she would only be making 40k/annual and trying to pay back on the loans. My point was that those six years (3yrs on pediatrics and 3yrs on ped cardiology) will be tight. But then when she gets out it gets easier. BTW.... What did you decide? Nursing program or Premed? -

Some real numbers here. Undergrad Bachelors degree (Nursing major): maybe $12,000 (UW WI- 1989-93) Medical School: approx $130,000 (private school - 1998-2002) Get stanford loans, but then if you consolidate then the interest accrues and you start paying interest on the interest. Residency you get (*cough*) paid MAYBE 40k/yr for the residency (Family practice 3yrs, OB/Gyn 4yrs, Ped Cardiology LOTS! Peds residency 3yrs and Fellowship another 3yrs) While paying on the loans or requesting a deferement. Final pay difference NICU nurse: $22-35/hr (approx 45k-73k) PedCardiologist: approx 200k More up front cost, but pays in the end. (if you're willing to delay gratification) Not saying it's not worth it. But money is not the motivating force to go or not to go to medical school. If you want the challenge - DO IT. Karen
