  1. There are so many more aspects to discuss with regards to your children having sex. Historically speaking, pregnancy used to be the main reason "good girls" and "good boys" didn't. Pregnancy can be dealt with - there are many choices available (planned parenthood, adoption, keeping with the social supports available) There isn't the stigma on pregnancy that there used to be. .... but you HAVE TO add in the STD's (syphillis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, hepatitis, HIV, HPV). The pill doesn't protect against those. If your children decide to have sex, they have to realize the health consequenses that comes with that decision. I have a 13 year old in my clinic right now that when I looked at her cervix, I was HONESTLY worried that it was cancer. 13! The pill wouldn't have changed that. Even the vaccines available don't cover everything. Even is she is on the pill, she needs to understand that CONDOMS are mandatory IF she were to consider sex. My concern with giving your child the pill gives them a false sense of security not that it encourages/supports sex.
  2. Hey Amber.... sorry you had such a bad experience. But, setting up with a good PCP would be one of the best things you could do. ER is kinda like anything else, there are some good ones, and some definately not worth much of anything. Which can be sad..... one of the hospitals that I work at has some really good docs and some that have completely amazed me with their .... ineptitude? or laziness? or just lack of care.... Excuses run aplenty (people using the ER inappropiately, understaffed, ect...) But bad care shouldn't be accepted. If I were you, I would write the hospital CEO and detail your experience. Give specifics. Don't be whiney, but factual. Let them evaluate it. That has two purposes - it allows you to voice your frustration and it might make steps to correct a physician that needs to be reminded that it's his job to CARE for people. Again... sorry you had a bad experience
  3. Sunny... I'd think you'ld actively try to CAUSE wood just so you could take care of it.
  4. Hey! I like the patients, but when practicing here in the US.... the amount of paperwork, billing, coding, ensuring proper insurance coverage for meds, is nauseating.... the charting sucks. ABSOLUTELY. When I was in Guat and Peru, and we had our meds to give out and no billing and less risk of litigation... the paperwork was far more inline with what it should be. ie dx and treatment. Here if I don't chart "advised smoking cessation" with the prenatal visits, the silly woman could sue me when the child doesn't make it into Harvard cuz "she never was told" of the risks of her choice. And even if I tell her, if it wasn't documented, it wasn't done. But I recognize that not just for my pts, but also when I was the pt myself. I know my ortho guy wasn't looking forward to dictating my op note after surgery. I'm not stupid and I'm not hating him for not liking the paperwork.
  5. Oh... come on. It's only been 30 min. They might be all powerful... but give them time for a potty break! On topic though... I have to agree with Scoop. I would have a hard time not treating them after I shot them. But that wouldn't really be wise either cuz what if he/she had friends around....
  6. trust me - you'll be looking at them an entirely different way. situation won't (no pun intended) come up. In all seriousness, he's 100% right. It's just different.
  7. well... at least you're not setting them up for murder or anything . Just scaring the life out of them
  8. over half will either take care of the problem for you or ask for your personal number.... doesn't sound like too bad of a problem to me. edit to add: just watch out for the three that want to kick you in the jimmy
  9. don't worry... in time, you'll begin to see them as just another chart that you're going to have to write on.
  10. It's Fat Tuesday.... anybody got any cool plans? or maybe beads?

    Post #

Congrats!!!! Story.... ok.... Once upon a time there was a guy, named Don... The Don. And he was a jumper. And he posted on dz.com. a lot. so much that he got a thousand posts. Then he lived happily ever after. maybe not the best story, a little weak in the tell... but *heh* it's kinda cute in it's simplicity
  12. But... I like the sweet and innocent Andy. Why would you want to change that?
  13. You have Guy parts?? Personally I have girl parts (trust me, I know what girl parts are)... but this new addition to my knee. I don't know if it's male or female... but "guy" can be nonspecific.
  14. Donate every thing possible - so that someone else gets the unique experience of dead guy parts - Psychologically its a little weird to think about. Then cremate the remains.

  16. A YEAR! Wow. That's quite sad. Family, Friends, Neighbors.... Even at 71, someone should care enough to say "Wonder how ____ is doing." Or what about the holidays? Nobody?!
  17. My tummy is upset from the pain and the narc. Ginger really does help. I'm sick of this bed. Can I have some nice soup? Plain, and non spicy or greasy... cuz my tummy isn't too happy
  18. No test? Purely subjective self opinion? I can guess how this one is going to turn out.
  19. Thank you!!! And if I could examine said thumb sucking injury... I would concur with leprosy. Back to the hijack.... It was a very cool surgery. Lots of pictures. ACL completely shot - replaced with a cadaveric ligament (drills and hammers and really weird stuff to feel). Lateral meniscus - tears in perpindicular directions - so that was removed. Medial one - three long worked for stitches to support it. and a bit of clean up work. I have a feeling that had I been alseep, he may have opened my knee. So, I'm glad that it was arthroscopic. He was expedting it to be under an hour.... two hours later, the spinal was starting to wear off. But... they got it all done. I did kinda like it though when they tried to get ready to move me across to the gurney and I said "I can do that" *laughter* "no really" and I did.

  21. Sorry....been kinda incapacated with the ACL reconstruction yesterday .... but now, oxycodone is GOOD. Andy.... yes, you will die. but... I'm thinking that ut wont be from the bo bo on your finger So... quit sucking your thumb and man up! (ps... remember - OB/Gyn.... if it aint "down there" I don't care.) ps... had it done under spinal with no sedation so I could watch the whole thing. Made anesthesia peoples laugh at me by requesting a mask so that I wouldn't be breathing on the instruments. It just seemed weird not having a mask. My ortho guy was NOT happy with what he found in there.
