Devils Advocate: Some people (ie the "true believer" types) honestly believe that they should wait until after marriage for sexual relations. Their core values and beliefs restrict them from acting on such "carnal lust." Now occasionally there might be a lapse in judgment and he/she might fall prey to such sinful acts... but then on re-examination, there might be repentance and an attempt to hold off again. Two views to this inconsistancy 1. He/She is using sex to tease or manipulate. 2. He/She is wanting that intimate relationship, but due to the self imposed societal guilt is restricting those desires. The actual reason behind NOT having sex is as big of a question as the reason to have sex.

I don't want to die.... but I'm more afraid of suffering a stroke and existing in the bed for almost a year like my father, or losing my mind due to lupus like my stepfather.... I much more afraid of losing the ability to LIVE. Which is why, knowing my specific risk factors.... I consider being obese to be more of a risk to me than skydiving. Or, since my dad had lung cancer and my mother - COPD, smoking is more dangerous than riding a motorcycle. Can you die while skydiving or riding motorcycles? Yes. But... you can stay inside a "safe" house in a "safe" neighborhood "living" the "safe" life .... and still loose the ability to live.

Guys... come on. Show some sympathy and compassion. Just because he "didn't do it right" this time, doesn't mean that he won't learn and succeed the next time. There are generally two types that make "suicide gestures" 1. Borderline personality types that do it for any attention, even if it means hurting themselves for the sake of that attention. And as much as borderline personalities annoy me (so many in my family do the "come here, come here, come here, go away, go away, go away" games)... they are still needing SOMETHING that sometimes the medical community can help with. 2. Severe Depression. The emotional pain with that level of depression deserves some understanding. Don't taunt those that close to the edge. (edit to express what I meant, not what I typed. Thanks!)

Good point- Just having had a hysterectomy does not mean that she can not have a sexual relationship.... However, if : 1. it was because of endometriosis and she had SIGNIFICANT pain with intercourse/period/anything prior to the hysterectomy... even if the endometriosis is gone, her memory of the pain isn't. That needs to be something that with patience and understanding that a couple can work through. 2. it was because of polycystic ovaries or other ovarian problems (even including endometriosis) and the ovaries had to be removed, then she might have a decreased drive because the ovaries do make testosterone which does influence the sex drive. Most of the time, that can be medically managed. (unless the risk of hormones are too great for her) 3. it was because of cancer... she is probably happy to be alive. If shes had radiation as an adjuvant therapy.... don't EVEN think about going there until she wants to try... and then understand that even then... it's probably NOT going to happen. Find other ways to express intimacy and just be happy about the time that you are given to spend with her. Just having had a hysterectomy though does not give someone carte blanche to sleeping with someone else. (for risk of sending this to SC, I do kindof excuse Former Pres. Clinton for his extramarital reln'ships in the case that Sen. Rodham-Clinton might bat for the other team. But even then, it would still be better for them to have communicated)

Although I tend to be attracted to more of the military style appearance.... there are definitely good people with long hair, and people with short hair, and people with no hair... I try not to judge by physical appearances alone

You are correct, sex is an important part of intimacy - it confirms trust, passion, desire. It fulfills a "need" for release. But you don't need sex to have a fulfilling and enduring relationship. A rel'nship is so much more than the carnal expression of lust. There is more to the human spirit than just fucking like animals. And, honestly, if you can't see that in the relationship that you are in... you both might deserve better. Sex is important... but it is NOT the relationship. (now... I will be the first to say though... sex IS important)

There are so many people in this community that I like and admire. Friends, role models, just good people.... Its the boldness and the love of life.... Hey Scott I took your post as more tongue in cheek. I thought it was kinda cute, but that was because I didn't really think you were serious in the "truth" portion. Thus my reply at the beginning of this thread reflecting how some beliefs and insecurities might just be situations that aren't well understood. Since then, though, it seems that some may have taken your comments as more literal or reflections of your respect for women in general. I am amused, however by the drama that it all caused.
