Matt's right, you made absolutely no point or argument with this post. how bout we try it again! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Why is it that so many Americans feel the need to turn Soldiers into Team America Heros. The act of joining up is a decision made for many reasons.Quote regardless of the reasons for which a person joins the military that fact remains that they volunteer to make great sacrifices to protect others, including those that sit there and bad mouth them on a regular basis. Amercian soldiers fight to defend people taht hate them, people that could care less whether or not they ever make it home to their families, people that would rather spit on them than give them the time of day. Sounds like a pretty heroic thing to me. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I also agree - making the stand he took would have taken perhaps more courage than simply and dumbly complying with orders and going out to Iraq.Quote If he's still a luitenant than chances are the Iraq war kicked off before he recieved his commission, therefore he had his chance to quit before he became an officer. He wanted to come into the military to defend his country/fight wars, and now he is backing down on the grounds that the war is illegal. You very well have the right to refuse an unlawful order ie "kill everyone in the house including women and children", according to the Geneva convention and US military regulation you are accountable for your own actions in that situation and may therefore refuse. But refusing to go to Iraq, that is not an unlawful order by any means, many people consider it an illegal war, well guess what, congress approved it, so basically everyone saying this war is illegal is at the same time accusing every soldier that has served there a war criminal. This luitenant is the criminal, nowhere in any oath you take while entering military service do you say you will obey all orders as you see fit. Simply put, this officer is a COWARD, a worthless, pathetic, sorry excuse for a soldier and in the eyes of those of us who live up to our committments the lowest form of life on Earth. People like this cause soldiers to get killed, their actions and negative impact on moral is causing more and more of my borthers in arms to come home in body bags. He should be forced to pay back everything the government WASTED to train him, then improsoned in a deep dark hole where he can be periodically ass-raped until he finally dies a slow painful death and finds his way to hell where his sorry ass can wait for me to get there and have a little chat with him. I despise cowards with every fiber of my being and wish the military would quit trying to deal with these people in a politically correct manner and crush them, they deserve nothing less, you can very well be charged with and punished for acts of cowardice in combat, we need to use that charge a lot more than we do. Excuse my graphic way of describing what I consider to be punishment, but I have served alongside men like this and they negatively impact our efforts over there and cause casualties. And if there's one thing in this world that can set me off this thread found it. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Overweight? Asthmatic? Australia's army wants you
GQ_jumper replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
A win/win situation for both ends of the deal -- more troops for Iraq/Afghanistan, etc., and an almost guaranteed way to get and stay in shape for the overweight recruits. Not sure why no one has thought of this one already... Quote Absolutely not, there's already enough fat slobs in the military without lowering the standards, they slip through the cracks for multiple reasons. Everything from their chain of command not having the balls to enforce the Army's policy on weight and fitness, to people riding out injuries and profiles so the Army can't chapter them out because they haven't fully recovered. I get so pissed off every time I walk across post and see countless soldiers bulging out of their uniforms, and unfortunately you are no longer allowed to tell a soldier they are fat, that might hurt their delicate little feelings. I'm sick of seeing people make it in because of lowered standards, we could do twice as much with an Army half this size that consisted of nothing but the most dedicated, physically fit, and agressive of those in service now. I'm ashamed to be seen in uniform when there are people like this in the vicinity. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower -

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...but most folks will get more out of dedicated solo time. I'll bet that if you took two equal (non-pro) teams and had one do 8 hours of 4-way in the tunnel and the other split up and had each person do one solid hour of individual skills work with a coach(movement work, stop drills, grip drills, etc.), that the team that worked on fundamentals would kick the snot out of the team that did all 4-way. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd definitely agree with you on that one. In my rather limited experience, unless the fundamental techniques are solid, there's not much point trying fancier stuff. Quote Something else on that, even when you are doing 4, on every jump think of something with your individual flying you need to work on and keep it in the back of your mind while you jump. You obviously can't focus on it as much as solely working on your individual technique, but it keeps your individual learning curve a little higher. It works well for me at least, but everyone tends to learn differently. And Matt, I'm only callin myself fat because I completely went off my diet these last two weeks being on TDY in Florida and I gained 8 pounds in the first week. I told my team if I break 200 again I'm sending them the lypo suction bill because they were the ones that encouraged me to eat all that ice cream History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. It's almost time....World Meet 2006, who's it gonna be?
GQ_jumper replied to GQ_jumper's topic in Relative Work
Well it took me a while to finally get online and post this so sorry for the delay, but I finally got to check out a couple of te vids from the WM. And looking at the 8 way vids the French just looked so much more relaxed, i still hold out that Airspeed could've closed the gap and taken it home had it not been for the weather, but you can definitely see the difference that team continuity makes. Now Fire on the other hand, words can't even begin to explain how their flying looked. It was beyond amazing. Clean and fast as hell, I can only wish a team like that would stay together for another couple years just to see how far they could progress. No discussions here? with round 10 coming up, the Russians could post some unprecedented scores..... Quote i only wish Fire could've been there to spank that 44 Also, Fastrax has come a long way this year, kudos to them on their score. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Well I just took a look at the lineup for the Meet and it seems that France is the only of the top teams going straight from the WM to the Malevsky meet. And they aren't even doing any 8 way this year. My guess on round 10, France or Fastrax will set the high score. I'm kind of dissapointed that Sinapsi and Fire will not be there. I would've loved to have seen Fire clean up at another meet and I'm sure Sinapsi would like to go a full 10 rounds with France. Oh well, there's always next year That round 10 can definitely turn the tables in this meet though, so it's going to be a nail biter until the end. No rest for the weary!! All the top teams are doing an immedeate right face and heading to Russia for the Malevsky Meet. I just saw the draw posted on the NSL site, I haven't looked too closely at it yet but round ten will definitely be a burner. All randoms and just dirt diving it here a second ago it seems like if it's engineered right the biggest move in the sequence is still smaller than some of the moves on the 47 pointer (F-M-P-O-E). The NSL site has even predicted a 50+. Hopefully we'll actually be able to finish this one History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
