I'm reasonably certain both sides know each is spying on the other and especially when it comes to calls to or from officials such as ambassadors. It takes a special kind of high level nitwit (and apparently Flynn is in that set) to not realize this. I can understand it from maybe you or any other "normal" person, but holy hell man, how dumb of a government official do you have to be to not understand what the job of the NSA is? Perhaps his career didn't enable him to consider that possibility? 2002 to 2004: Commanded 111th Military Intelligence Brigade 2004 to 2007: Director of Intelligence for Joint Special Operations Command 2007 to 2008: Director of Intelligence, United States Central Command 2008 to 2009: Director of Intelligence, Joint Staff 2009 to 2010: Director of Intelligence, ISAF (Afghanistan) 2011 to 2012: Office of the Director of National Intelligence 2012 to 2014: Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency

Miller's declaration of war to the population ... ?

It is unfortunate that not only do you believe that, but also willingly promote that myopic opinion. -

I don't understand. What does that mean? -
A squandered opportunity to enlighten. I am so disappointed in you Ken! The toboggan is a traditional form of transport used by the Innu and Cree of northern Canada.

(In contrast to this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4834610#4834610) I'm not an American yet I am humbled by the action (not words) of THIS former soldier. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38817701 I would be honoured to shake his hand and offer him a hot meal and cold beverage of his choice if ever I have the good fortune to meet him.

If you're interested in Mr. Leary, this might be enlightening - "People in the investment community are turning on him over the performance and management style of his funds—a business, it turns out, that is less forgiving than reality TV." (source: http://www.nationalobserver.com/2016/01/26/news/real-and-shocking-story-kevin-olearys-business-career) And this: "O'Leary's main home has been in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States since the early 1990s. He has not committed to moving back to Canada full-time if he wins the Conservative Party leadership race." (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_O'Leary#Personal_life) We are not immune from bombastic carpet-baggers. -
An opinion piece. "Had Muslim gunmen killed six white Christians, half the world would have Canadian flags as profile pictures" http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/king-world-grieving-canadian-mosque-shooting-article-1.2960334

Yup and the White House used the incident to support their immigration ban. Edited to add: Mohamed Belkhadir was running from the scene because while administering first aid he saw a man with a gun approaching. Turned out that was a police officer. Police officer arrested him after a pursuit, cause he was running from a shooting. Understandable behaviour from both sides really. He has since been cleared and is now named as a witness in stead of a suspect. Wow, a visible minority who didn't get shot! "Only in Canada, eh?*" (*A unique expression used liberally in Canada)

Returning briefly to the original subject; "President Trump offers full military and intelligence support to PM Trudeau following mosque attack" Thanks a bunch, but I'm pretty sure we can handle this one without you. source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zpLDR4gzhc

Two completely different things. 1. Pres. Reagan signed the hiring freeze immediately upon entering the Oval Office right after his inauguration. 2. The ATC employees went on strike later. Striking as a fed employee is/was illegal ( ask me how I know ); so Pres. Reagan did a wholesale firing of them. Then they went thru a hiring process to replace the fired people; I think that is how John Mitchell got on with ATC, a replacement employee. Larry Bagley of USPA was a ATC controller who went on strike. Their union convinced them that they were so big & necessary that the gov't would yield. Pres. Reagan simply said that since you failed to show up for work => you are gone. He also ordered that none of them could get their jobs back. Jerry Baumchen Thanks Jerry, I had failed to make the distinction. John

Jerry, My memory of the 1981 mass firing by Reagan of 11,000 ATC employees and their exclusion from future federal employment differs. Regards, John

Fairness dictates equal time be afforded to the conservatives here who received significant disdain when this was initially brought to SC. "A D.C. police spokesman has confirmed that a secret video recording made Dec. 18 by one of O’Keefe’s operatives led to the arrest of one man and foiled an alleged plot to spread acid at the DeploraBall for Trump supporters at the National Press Club." source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/meetings-of-activists-planning-to-disrupt-inauguration-were-infiltrated-by-conservative-media-group/2017/01/24/b22128fe-e19a-11e6-ba11-63c4b4fb5a63_story.html -
Lyrics written by a Canadian with music composed by a Frenchman. Co-opted by an American entertainer with (alleged) ties to organized crime. Fitting indeed.

on Inauguration Day how much devastation will be wrought
aphid replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
I think every US Administration has had, at best, tenuous relationships with the Press. In my lifetime, LBJ & Nixon come to mind as eventually developing a particular hostility. But I don't recall ever seeing such angry and aggressive rancor that was displayed by Mr. Trump while speaking at the CIA or in the words read by his official press secretary at the White House. How many battles does your countries new Administration really want to fight? -

I have edited my comment, and I apologize for the error. I even knew the correct spelling, but accidentally used the wrong one. Marc, of course, has never been known to make a spelling error in this forum. Damn you, John Kallend. The nostril-coffee flood just cost my laptop another motherboard. -
I took the time today to watch it in it's entirety, live. That way I can form my opinion(s) exclusively on his words alone, not what somebody else writes, says, or spins. With all due respect, America, THIS is your spokesman??? (If you missed it, here is one youtube upload of it - link begins just after his introduction by the VP-elect: https://youtu.be/IFjeIJnemJ0?t=342)

Maybe, but the law blames the thief. My car was stolen using the set of keys I left in the glove box. The insurance adjuster asked me not to do that anymore. But they paid the claim. My estranged wife was an Insurance Adjuster. She often pointed out that policies can not be voided simply because of an Insureds stupidity. Which is why if you burn your house down because you deep-fried turkey in your living room, yes you are a dumbass. But a dumbass with coverage. John

And this is just as unacceptable: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/passengers-removed-jetblue-flight-ivanka-trump-incident-n699161 Jerry Baumchen The shock there is that she was traveling Jetblue in coach! So perhaps the egomania disorder does not affect the whole family. I wouldn't even have recognized her: http://www.tmz.com/2016/12/22/ivanka-trump-flight/ It seems the idiot who was harassing Ivanka and her family, is a professor and an author, and his book is getting some pretty bad reviews on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/High-Life-Living-Suburban-Century/dp/0300164084/ Without reading any reviews more than a couple days old. I'd hazard a guess that they are all trump supporters. "An oddly written book. Seems to start in one direction, then flys over to another unrelated subject, then jets back to yet another area, left me feeling Blue.... Left me feeling verbally assaulted. Almost as if I had jetlag. I won't be taking this flight again anytime soon. and authors like " nObama NoMore". It is pathetic that although obviously none of the reviewers (apology for being forced to prostitute that description) read one paragraph of the authors work, their small-minded keyboard warrior mentality to lash out can so easily distort future interest and financially impair the work.

Common decency. Good morning Jerry, I would have chosen to suggest "common civility", which IMHO passed away simultaneously as we achieved mass-access to the 'net. The antagonism and personal animosities often displayed even in this forum on a skydive website can be appalling. People hurl spiteful comments around that they (I hazard a guess) would never say to to somebody personally and directly around a DZ fire-pit. Civility calls for treating others as you would wish to be - allowing others to quietly go about their day without unnecessary confrontation or impediment. The hostility that Mr. Trump openly displayed during the campaign and continues as he prepares to assume the Presidency has nurtured and encouraged some very hateful characteristics among some of his supporters. People that know me, also know that I have no problem publicly speaking my mind and calling people out to their face(s). Ask anybody at the Bent Prop in Eloy this past 6 weeks who badgered me enough to finally engage in conversation about Mr. Trump. However, unlike the Twitterer-in-Chief, I am always prepared to stand accountable for my words. In the real world. Kindest regards, and Merry Christmas Jerry. John
