We just got a 350 at my DZ and I love it. Have been jumping mostly EZ's in the past. The A2 toggle pressure is very light. Openings are very soft and on heading. Has a very good bottom end flare. Great canopy.

How about you wait till you have a couple hundred more jumps. If your profile is correct you need to do a search in this forum and find out when you should start with a camera and why.

pour beer on yourself is a good one

Yes it was pretty dumb of you assume that they would avoid you. Even the most seasoned skydivers make mistakes, sometimes killing themselves and possibly others. Read the fatality reports and look at some of the jump numbers in there. Never count on someone else to save you life for you. Good job avoid the collision and hope there is a leason learned in this.

If you are worried about it then spend a few extra bucks on shipping and send it COD. Specify that the funds are to be secured(cashiers check/money order)That way you both know you are not getting ripped off and you will both get what you want in a reasonable amount of time.

I don't see a riggers ticket in your profile. How is your reserve packed if you won't trust anyone to pack it, but you are not a rigger????
-
The packing part just takes practice, but if you pack it in the grass it will lose it's slipperyness much quicker. Good luck.

I also have the Tony C wing jacket and love it. You give a waist meaurement when you order it so there is a snug fit around the waist(spandex) to keep it from blowing up. Very nice to be able to just wear the jacket and shorts in the summer.

The smart is a reserve and the spectra is a main, so they would be in different containers. Figure out what canopies you want and they will build you the appropriate size container. Check out their website and it should have some of this info on there. There is an ad with a link to it here on dropzone.com

I'm headed for Melbourne in the morning. Will probably jump Sun. Let me know where you are headed and I will come out. Jeff

Yesterday you said it would be 4-6 weeks. Now its on the way? I am about to order one and am just wondering about the delivery time.

EXIT TO THROWING THE DROGUE OUT INSTABILITY PROBLEMS
FlyinseivLP2 replied to foreverfree's topic in Instructors
Don't let the students position hinder you stability. If you present your body to the relative wind well right out the door, you should be able to get the drouge out before the student can cause problems. Don't be premature throwing the drouge, but don't miss your opportunity. Also from the 1000 or so I have videoed the ones who wrap the students up to get stable spend the most time UNSTABLE. I have never had to wrap a student. Just my thoughts. -
Pull Altitude, Hard Decks and Audibles
FlyinseivLP2 replied to Reginald's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In the past few years we have seen a higher pull altitude as the norm. Mostly due to modern canopy design. They open slower and fly faster. Don't think many peoples hard deck would have changed though. You just have alittle more altitude to use till you get to your hard deck. I normally open a 3k but will open at 2k in certain situations. ie; large boogies. My hard deck is also lower than the 1800ft -
You also forgot Merlin, who IMO have the best suits. I have 3 and love all of them.
-
If you set it for you hard deck and you lose track of alti then when you hear you audible you should be going straight to your reserve, right? Not the best scenario IMO. If you are planning on going to your reserve then you are breaking your hard deck. IMO if you have it use it, it may save your life. But again don't rely on it. My 2 cents.
-
I dont use the audible as my main altitude indicator, its strictly a back-up, was just getting some ideas as to what are good altitude setting for the "just in case" I was actually replying to the post from nael.
-
Maybe you can double check that this is what your instructors meant. You can have an audible set for break off and still not rely on. Just be sure to keep an eye on your visual alti and the ground reference. Some say you should not rely on your visual alti either and they are right. But that doesn't mean everyone should stop using one, just that you should also have an internal clock and ground/horizion visual to back it up. I would sure rather have my audible let me know I missed alti check at break off time, then at pull time when I still had a bunch of friends in my face. Use it as a backup don't rely on it. Whould tou turn your ADD off because someone told you not to rely on it? Talk to your instuctors again.

10th anniversary at skydive tallahassee
FlyinseivLP2 replied to mgerra28's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Oh I wish you and Eric could make it. It would be nice to see everyone from the good old days. Well if you don't make it, we will be sure to tell stories (all good of course) about you around the fire. Jeff -

Hell, it's a party right? How bout' a nekid 10 way speed comp!! But I will have to be base, because I can't dive to well with that damn drouge behind me(thanks Brian I didn't need you to rub it in). Make sure Kevin is at the Boogie, and lets see how many other faces from the past we can round up. I think I can get Rowland out there. -
10th anniversary at skydive tallahassee
FlyinseivLP2 replied to mgerra28's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Rumble, I'm with you on the sunset load. Even though I'm a FF at heart, this is the 10th anniversary party. It's going to be about going back to the good ole days for me, so I'll try to squeze into the RW suit and jump with you old farts(oops I think I am in that category now) Oh yea, If you could take me out on a few of the skydives, it sure would feel like old times when I used to jump with you guys. Jeff -
Aubrey, Any chance of you bringing a Demo A2 up to Tally for the boogie? Have heard good things and would like to try one. Jeff

Aerodyne looking for Opinions: What are the best dive loops.
FlyinseivLP2 replied to aubsmell's topic in Gear and Rigging
I like Wings the best also. The way they are sewn makes them easier to grab than the others I have jumped. Jeff -
What size main do you have in there? If your canopy is to small for the container then the flap tends to come open on the older Javelins.

Do you think my wing-loading is too high? Plz?
FlyinseivLP2 replied to xavenger's topic in Safety and Training
Yes, your wing loading is too high. Not only are you not getting good landings, but you have put yourself in a position to seriously hurt yourself if you get in an unfamiliar situation( off landing, getting cut off, setup downwind, ect..) If you are not able to land the canopy in favorable conditions, you are surely high risk to end up in an incident report if something goes wrong. A wing loading of 1:1 is what is usually suggested to someone buying their first rig. Since you have had problems with flying your canopy you should probably go down to around 1:1. There are people out there who can land a canopy at your wing loading and with your experince, but that doesn't mean they should be flying it. Some DZ's would not let you jump with that wing loading. I do understand how you got into that wing loading though. There are to many people talking new jumpers into high wing loadings. Fortunately, things are changing. Some DZ's wouldn't even let you jump a canopy at that wing loading. Do a search under wing loadings, I'm sure you will come up with some good info. Be Safe -
exit seperation-newbies don't get pressured..
FlyinseivLP2 replied to bigbearfng's topic in Safety and Training
Just because not as many people get killed by this doesn't mean it is not an issue. I have been hit under canopy, by someone in freefall. Fortunately I am still here to talk about it. Exit seperation is more important than worrying about the last groups spot. If you don't like the spot then go around. I have been in a plane where a very high profile skydiver, behind us,was trying to pressure my group into giving 2 seconds seperation. We kindly let his group go in front of ours, as we didn't feel like being used as target practice that day. Don't be pressured. But don't let things get out of hand either, things are better for everyone if only one pass needed
