  1. I still can't stand him, but between him and Marty (who I also didn't like much at first but grew on me) he's the better choice for INXS. He also did much better on his performance last night WITH the band- Marty seemed to perform as if they were his back up band! I still think Ty or Mig would have been better than JD, or someone like Jordis if they wanted to be bold and bring something fresh to the band. I hear there is going to be another Rock Star show next year since this one was so successful! And I think all the "rockers" will be doing an American Idol style tour!
  2. That was my first rock concert too. I was 10! People were smoking weed all around us!
  3. I remembered another one- my dad brought home Joy to the World (Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog) for all of us kids! Funny- he really was more of a classical music kind of guy but he took me to my first concert and brought our first "rock" music home!
  4. I'm waiting for someone to ask what a 45 is! lol This thread is bringing back memeories, but its also reminding me that I'm OLD!
  5. Well said Jen! I may not agree 100% with Jan (or you) but I respect her convictions and her right to express them. And she has clearly stated her concerns about the event more than once. Why bait her or question her motives when they are so clearly stated? Isn't that the beauty of this world? We CAN disagree about things without making it personal!
  6. YES, I'll concede he improved over the past few weeks, but he still gives me the creeps! But if Marty had won, I would have had to find a way to send beer to Texas! I do think SOMEONE will be changing her avatar soon! Bohemian Rhapsody was such a BAD choice for Mig to sing last night- what was he thinking? It doesn't matter how well he did with the song, he needed to show his diversity, and get away from the theatrics!
  7. Band on the Run- the 45 is the first one I remember owning. I'm the youngest of 4, and I definitely commandeered a few of my sister's records! Carol King's Tapestry is still one of my all time favorites, and I don't know how many times I took that from my sister's room! After I wore hers out, I bought my own copy and its also one of the very first CDs I bought. But even before that was a Beatles album (cassette) that belonged to my dad. The one with Paperback Writer? I listened to it all the time!
  8. Oh nooooooooooo! She'll be terrorizing the SDC campground!
  9. Thanks, Michele. (edit to add: Wait!! You just ruined a perfectly good thread with facts) Wendy W.
  10. NOT durable and a bit small for her! Oddly enough, when they won fabric and a sewing kit, none of them bothered to make clothes! At least they booted the lady in the slip on the first day! That would have been painful!
  11. The flannel ones are nice when its really cold but they can get too warm!
  12. Again, I am not the one speculating about his motives and essentially slandering him behind his back. His contact information is here, no one is using it. Hardly seems fair, that's all I'm saying. I am well aware that there are yahoos out there who enjoy experiencing "Nature's Fury" and there are just as many people who assume it won't be that bad, so why evacuate when they can tough it out. I don't know if he falls into either category or if all the flights were full. I do know a lot of people who stayed behind took refuge in the French Quarter because its on higher ground than the rest of the city. And it did survive the storm pretty well up until the levee broke too!
  13. Do they still allow them to bring a luxury item? Last season they stranded them without a change of clothes or proper footwear. I got so sick of seeing those girls in their underwear!
  14. I'm not the one questioning his motives (or speculating about them) for staying behind. His contact information is there for anyone who wants to ask him. You and many others are speculating, but no one has bothered to ask him directly. Why not? (oh, I know, he'd only LIE anyway!) And as I said, there's no reason for Bush to be greedy. There is plenty of blame to go around!
  15. I actually think there's plenty of blame to go around.
  16. No Mike, his assumption is the guy stayed by choice for a stupid reason and he has no interest in confirming whether or not that's true.
  17. There appears to be a very large "blame the victim" movement growing in this country. I guess that's easier than acknowledging the problems and working towards a solution. We treated the tsnumani victims with more dignity and respect than our own citizens.
  18. You know what they say about people who ASSUME things. Call him a liar on the internet, but by all means, don't ask the man a simple question!
  19. His name, address, phone number and email address are all posted here. Why not just ask him?
  20. Good question- you should email the show (Fear Factor) and ask them! I'll bet they actually send you a reply! Then you can share it with us!
  21. Sorry! I was thinking of the best little wine shop near me! They'll put together custom gift baskets for any occasion! I even tried to see if they had a website, but I didn't find one.
  22. Yes, I think they showed all the puking, etc, just to let the viewers know how tough it really is out there!
  23. Do you have to order online? If there's a store or wine shop near you that you like, why not ask them about putting together a basket and shipping it? You could even pick the items to put in there! It wouldn't surprise me if Trader Joe's did something similar, and any of the large department stores probably would too. I know Marshall Fields (local to the Chicago area) has a really good wine and gourmet foods department.
  24. He doesn't know who won because that's announced live at the end of the season. If he made it far enough to be on the jury, he knows who the final two are! HOW they mange to swear all these guys to secrecy for that long really is beyond me!
  25. I totally agree about the "magic" of editing, but I don't think I've ever seen that much puking on TV! It wasn't just him, I think it was all the guys in his tribe. And I didn't think any of them came across as cocky or whiny, just a little surprised to find themselves so done in so early in the "game"! Plus, in the previews, things weren't looking so good for Blake..........
