Sigh, the life of a globe hopping movie star! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
I have a Tom Tom ONE XL S It has Text to speech and I like the bigger screen then the small 3.5" I have taken it all over the US and into B.C. Canada and have had no big problems.. It has been great for $200 and has a good Point of Interest list built in. My guess is that they are all pretty similar.. I used another type one time and it was close to the one I have. That is being a little picky I might say considering that you did not state any specific camera. You just initially asked if it was out there. and I provided a link for the Camera Version that Skysystems makes for the Factor Diver... The HC series is pretty wide and your likely to be looking at a top mount anyway. You can piece one together like what cookie notes with a box and a mount or even just a mount which is common. The advantage is that you can take it off and not have the extra stuff up top for jumps with out a camera. If your going to plan to do video when you have more jumps (unless your profile is not updated) and want the fullface why not look at a top mount FTN or FTP or even the Wes line through Skysystems.. A use specific helmet with room to grow as you start doing more... http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/flattop.htm http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/ftnarrow.htm http://www.skysystemsusa.com/helmets/vapor_narrow.html http://www.skysystemsusa.com/helmets/vapor_wes_pro.html Sometimes it is better to have a separate helmet anyway for what you want to do. But that is from me with 4 different helmets... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

How you exit will depend some what on your position in the line up. It will also vary depending on if it is a formation load in a trail plane. In general, mid way back from the door and closer, I find I am more likely to exit chest to wind towards the wingtip with head up but looking over the left shoulder to spot the base. I feel this puts me in a much more Positive position for diving and then approaching relative to the base. "Diving" chest to the wind perpendicular to the door towards the wingtip with a cup or catching of air will slow the forward throw from the airplane some and help close the distance to the base. Looking over the left shoulder gives you a target and you have a positive position to the base on the "hill", read that as most likely above the base which is a good or positive thing. If from the same position you dive, you can end up in a negative position which can leave you low relative to the base. The closer to the door with a hard dive it can be harder to see (spot) the base as you realistically are not that far away. People tend to over amp and dive too hard with out finding the target and they can more easily end up low, again your not that far away. Now on the other half, the further back in the line up (closer to the Pilot) then you need to be a little more aggressive and dive The aggressiveness is going to be based on how fast the exit line up is going and how far back you are. You will know for sure the base is to the left and down assuming your not in a trail plane. Again if you blindly dive with your head down you can still end up low. You need to get into the dive but have head up and arms out to spot the base. Also you can consider cupping a touch of air to help slow the forward throw from the plane to help close the distance. Again this will help get you in a more positive position to the base relative to the hill. Once you spot it and know where to go you can dive harder. Close or far from he base on exit, you need to close the distance and know where your going so you can remain in a positive approach position. Hope the drawn out explanation makes some sense.. Find your BALANCE!!! Suits tend to need less leg wing back flying then you think. Close the leg some and then open it to a balanced point. You might also be flying a bit hip low so think hips up a bit. as you get the balance then you start working on Fall rate and really getting the hips up towards the sky which will slow your fall rate down. And if it involves shaking VB's "hand" then you may need a handiwipe Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

She will almost never come down, now! I am guessing she could get 4+ min no problem from 13K if she can max it out the whole time.. Oh wait, she probably can as she is in stupid good physical shape... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
Deal on the hat for a Pic! Let me know where to send it!! Full res Digital file would work !! That pic looks good cropped. I played with the low res version and I think the full res will be a very nice shot cropped to 8x10 As always, you Da Man!!! Let me see what I can come up with next weekend. If my plans come together I should have some cool shots to show.. Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Sandy was a fantastic person. I enjoyed jumping at her events. I seemed to be one of the furtherest travelers coming from Portland or Seattle going to the east coast events. They were fun. Really a horrible thing that happened. I hope Hanna is doing great! Wow hard to believe it has been 10 years.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Nice Pics Scotty, I expected nothing less! Utah08-9929 was cool with the completed formation and the airport. Cropped a touch at the top to 8x10 from 8x12 I can see that one on the wall at the airport and maybe my wall!

I want to give a huge thanks to Spot! The event went off with out a hitch I would say and he put alot of work into it. The event was pulled off as a great event in a very short time from concept to the weekend. WOW is all I can say as I have seen events take much longer to get together with less! Now you have to make next year better! Cool Shirt, lots of food, Plenty of Altitude on every jump and even a really HIGH altitude opportunity. Hard to forget the need for lots and lots of water, it was hot and very dry... Lots of fun and the flocks kept getting better and better. Overall I had a great time, but the Farnsworth Run was something I will smile about for a long time. It was very unique and it was interesting thinking about the landing elevation being 1000 to 1500' higher then I and a number of the peoples normal "opening" altitude (ground is 4200'). I want to say Thank You to Spot for the opportunity to go on the run and very much so for passing along something important to you to us.. Thanks for the video link.. Also let us know if anything else comes out from the media that you were able to get interested in the weekend.. Thanks also goes to lots of people but big thanks also go to Justin and Scotty for the organizing & pics. Scott C. edited to change the video request to a thanks for the link "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I did not like it at first but now I do enjoy it! I am looking forward to the Season 2 start though I will DVR it as I am traveling right now. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

As others are noting, repitition and flow. I do the same flow each Tandem and it works to keep my head focused to the task at hand. It might be slightly adjusted based on airplane or student size but the basic flow covering the important points is used each time. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Shindig was a fantastic guy it seemed as I only met him a few times but he had a great personality from what I remember. He videoed some training jumps that my 8 way did down in Elsinore. Always seemed up beat and I am sure he has left a hole on the DZ. Blue Skies and a very unfortunate Black Death to you Shindig Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Tomorrow, I spend about 20 hours traveling to the US… Then I have tunnel time!
sdctlc replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Have a great time!! I am going to be flying down to LAX with my wife and daughter on Friday morning. We are going to go on the Disney cruise on Sunday. My 8 y/o is wanting to go to the tunnel so I booked a short 15 min block for the 3 of us on Friday evening. I love playing in the tunnel and will be interested to see how my wife and daughter do for their first times... Wife should do OK as she has abut 1200 jumps (not jumping now) but I am hoping my Daughter has a blast! Really hoping towards the end to fly in there with her at least off to the side so I can really get a good look at her face! Have a great time.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

I think you should note if your referring to a ASTRA or the older version 1200 The Astra is a good unit as long as you have the most recent software version. I have one on one of my rigs and don't have any issues. They do work as a save recently was attributed to an ASTRA. I think it was last year and the jumper hurt his arm or shoulder and could not pull the reserve. They still sell and service them but the big con on them seems/seemed to be that you have to have the control unit outside the container usually on the mud flap. Also you have the turn it on and off between each jump for calibration. It isd not like the turn it on and forget it units like the Cypress and Vigil Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
