  1. I dont really care on the issue per say. Though I dont agree with the Dixie Chicks bashing of the president in London or their preceved non-support of the troops, who IMHO regardless of if you agree of disagree with the war deserve our FULL support. They do what they are told and have BIG BRASS ONES for doing it, my hat is off to them. That said I do believe that we do have free speach and also have in return a freedom to hate what they said. All of that said.... am I way off base here?? When I opened the attachment the first thing I saw was the chick on the right with her left hand on the breast of the chick on the left. After I looked closer and it was not so I guess I am in the gutter today. Turn On with the "Baum Chickka Chick" music was my first inclination, but it went off quickly. Scot C. 2. I have the Jav manual regarding the Soft Release Housings. I can fax it over to you if you like. Just fire me off a PM with a fax number if you like. I also seem to recall that you had to route the cable below a bar tack to help prevent a pull being very hard becuse it can bunch up in the yoke by the neck if above the bar tack. I seem to recall that the Bar Tack was to act sorta like a leverage point that the cable needed to be under. If I am thinking about another rig I am sure I will get corrected. RI's soft housing in the flexon and talon has a teflon tube that acted as a guide inteh backpad between the lleft and right sides. I dont think that the Jav's ever did. From teh Jav Manual: "The soft housings are made in two peices, a right and a left shown inn fig 2. As you can see the left housing is not continous. The left release cable exits the "insertion guide" and then crosses the wearer's shoulders in the space between the backpad and the yoke. It is then down the left side of the left shoulder pad entering the left housing at the ring jumction." The insertion guide is the fabric channel that does exactly what is described.... The entire section in the manual is three pages with figures. Like I said let me know if you want a faxed copy and hope the info helps! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  3. This was in Incidents awhile back but dont want to ask the status over there.... Does anybody know if the plane is up again? Is it in the process of getting fixed? It was going to be in Tri-Cities WA in two weeks, that was before the accident, and the group that was planning on attending tri-cities is trying to coordinate and we have had poor luck in finding anything out. I figured where else to get truthfull info, good info , bad info and flat out ugly lies info than on a message board regarding soething like this. i would prefer any info along the truthfull set but beggers cant be choosersm If anybody knows the status of the plane and its plans as they relate to tri-cities in two weeks please pass it along.. 4. Posted this over in General Discussions but maybe better response over here.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey all, My company is going to have me in Utah in July for a few days. I am trying to get my travel set up and I was thinking about comming in for a Friday of jumping. I am looking for a recomendation for a DZ close to Salt Lake City to go to for a Friday of jumping! I will be there if all works out on Friday the 11th of July and was wondering if 1st someone knows something going on and 2nd what the DZ to go to for friday jumping would be... Looks like there are 3 to choose from but since I have not been to any of them I have no way of know which would be the best bet.... Thanks and hopefully I willbe able to get my plans sured up inthe next day or so. Scoitt C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  6. Harry, In that Canadian T exit why are you holding it so long on the hill ? Oh I get it that is the bottom of the block and your getting ready to go to point 3!! Nice shot by the way, JJ takes a nice pic? Also hope the tunnel trip went well! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. We were talking about this at the DZ awhile back and we could not agree with the most likely winnner of the most skydiving medals for nationals and World meets. Just woundering who you think has the most? Lets limit it to RW since that has been providing medals for awhile compared to FF and that there are more opportunities 4, 8 10, 16, 20 way events over the years vs. the classic events? So who do ya think it is?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

    Camping

Sears is a good place. If you have a Costco near by you can get a good "tent Condo" pretty cheap. The things they have are bigger then my first apartment, and nicer. You should put a tarp under it in case it rains. Also if you can seal it with a waterproofer of some sort it, will keep you dry and last a little longer. We ended up opting out of tents and got a VW winebago conversion van that I have to say beats the heck out of sleeping on the ground. It is a tad more expensive then a tent though.... Scott C. 9. Glide Path had one manual for a number of reserves. I had a Firelite reserve a few rigs ago and have a copy of the manual. Looking at it now I see info for the following: Cricket Firelite Maverick Fury and Sharpchuter reserves Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  10. That is not really true in many cases currently on E-bay. I just looked and there were a number of canopies that were listed at well over 500 jumps and one, a Stiletto 97 at 1500 jumps with 300 on the line set. I am going to put a Sabre 135 with a '92 DOM with ~700 jumps but a honest 2 jumps on a new line set when I get a few pics taken, probably this weekend. It has been in a closet for about 6 years so what does that mean, am not telling the truth becuse I say it has been stored for a period of time?? I agree that you have to be carefull if you see an older DOM canopy with a scant few jumps, like 50 or 100. I would ask lots of questions if there is a question of the reliability of the item offered. SS, as to your question on if the canopy is worth getting. I have seen canopies that are in immaculate condition that are 10+ years old and dont have many jumps. You have to be careful though becuse if there was some mis-storage then there will be weak areas. HAVE THE CANOPY INSPECTED THROUGHLY. $550 may be a good price again depending on the condition as determined by a quality examiner that you trust. Are all cnopies being offered either on E-bay or other boards being sold truthfully, probably a % of them are not but I thik if you ask questions and dont get a "run around" answer you may be OK. Lets face it, the society that we live in is one of not as much "what is it worth" but more of "What is someone willing to pay for it!" Most people are honest but unfortunantly some are not.. POW Rescue

CNN just said she was rescued in a hospital near nasyera (sp??) and had multiple gunshot wounds. That is all I have heard on the news. They are also speculating that the "Battle of Bagdad" is starting... that easly could be total speculation on the news's part though. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  13. I have had a number of different suits over the years and the RW suit I currently have is a Body Sport Comp suit. I have been nothing but Happy with it. The turnaround was fast and when I got it I needed a couple of minor adjustments, most likely do to my measuring I talked with them, said waht the problem was and had it back in my hands with a perfect fit within a week. The workmanship is also top notch! BodySport has been around for awhile and they do good work. I have jumped some of the other suits mentioned and they are nice as well. The first Body Sport suit I jumped, a crater suit, worked for a number of years of jumping. Much to my suprise I found it again on the student rack of a local DZ and it is still chuggiing along. I think the Comp suit is a little nicer though, IMHO. Fire off an E-mail to BodySport, I am sure they will be happy to help out any way possible.... Hope that helps and good luck in getting a suit! 14. Ralph does have a tendency to do that. You have to specify if you dont want it and then check to be sure he did not do it. I gotta hand it to the guy though he keeps going and going! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  15. You mean replacement 4 batteries. I ended up getting the 395 series batteries at RadioShack. L&B have in the manual for RENATA 399 type or equivalents and I guess the 395's are equivalant since they work no problem. I was suprised they were cheaper at RadioShack then other places I looked. I know all this wonderful information since I had recently pulled out an old dytter for a second helmet and was having the same problem with it. I figured it was a low battery warning. Put the new batteries in and it works great now! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  16. Gordo, You have an evil streak! People that dont know you well get this impression off a really nice guy but little do they know what lurks underneath On a side hope your back up in the air! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  17. In a lot of ways I enjoy Skydiving over parachutist. Parachutist is very good but 5 stars to Skydiving! I look forward each month to each! It sucks when they both show up on the same day though, espically if it is within a day or two of the 1st of the month Scott C "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  18. I have heard good things about the Talon FS from Rigging Innovations. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  19. If anybody is interested this discussion or one very similar took place back in October: www.dropzone.com/forum/Skydiving_C1/Gear_and_Rigging_F6/JumpShack_FireBolt_P257843/ Also I cant get onto the jumpshack web page? Did they change? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  20. Yet again another example of the OUTSTANDING service that L & B give. I needed something from them and within a week it was sent to me at N/C. I will always try and jump their product! Besides the service the product is very good! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  21. "dont worry I'll be right behind you" "hop up on my lab while I tighten these straps" Both would apply to tandems "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  22. A blended fabric canopy is not instatnly a bad thing. Maybe the Turbo had its problems but to compare a new canopy to it and call it an instant relic may be a bit harsh. PD sells the Silhouette which is a 9-cell "hybrid" canopy with ZP top and F-11 bottom. Kinda seems like the Sabre2 with a f-111 bottom. It has gotten good feedback from people that I know that jump it. The blend of fabrics is to help make more consistant openings and allow for easy packing. Additionally the Blend is billed to extend the life of the canopy. It is a nice conservative canopy that is more zippy than a full F-111. I dont know much about the Firebolt but I did think it was full ZP though? Learn something every day I guess! I will reserve the right to put it in the dumpster after I hear more about or actually jump one a few times Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

    FINALLY!

Hey, I hope all works out great and the rig sounds awesome but just in case you decide that the main is too small what bigger size main can you put in the container? 1.7-1.8 is a high load with 350 junmps, things will happen quickly... But sounds like you may be ahead of the curve from what others are saying.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  24. If your going to be on Whidbey than you will need to get off the island to jump. You can go the Clinton-Mulkieto Ferry on the South end of the island and that will kick out near Everett, which is close to Skydive Snohomish http://www.skydivesnohomish.com/. Same ferry and a ~2 hour drive south will get you to Kapowsin http://www.skydivenet.com/kapowsin/index.htm. Head north off of the island towards Anacortes then east to the highway and you can hit some "norh o da border" DZ's Abbotsford http://www.vancouver-skydiving.bc.ca/homepage.html and Pitt Meadows http://www.pacificskydivers.bc.ca/index.html Both are fairly close to the border up in Vancouver, B.C. If you take the Port Towensend-Keystone Ferry it will put you on the Olympic pennisulla and about a 1 to 1.5 hour drive will get you to Blue Skies in Bremerton http://www.blueskies-skydiving.com/. Assuming your are talking about going to NAS Whidbey then you are probably going to be closest to the Keystone-Pt Townsend ferry. The closest DZ will be Snohomish or Blue Skies. For ease of travel, going on the Keystone ferry might be the way to get to Kapowsin as well i.e. avoid going through Seattle traffic. Drawback is the Keystone ferry is not as often as some of the other ferries in the area. Basically You are not looking at a 20 min drive to a DZ but there are Dropzones to be had! Good Luck and Hope to see you jumping in the NW Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
