I have to wait to see it again, and probably on DVD so I can slow and pause it, but it looked like in the scene where they are eating in the nice restaurant that you can see the reflection of a member of the crew in the window...anyone else notice that, or need I go back to smoking the crack? -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

I saw it a couple of nights ago. Great action flick. I keep saying it's like a porno...you don't go for the plot, that's just what holds one sex scene to the next...in this case, one action scene to the next. I thought the stunts were great. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

I can enjoy the irony without supporting their idiocy. ----------- That's a great way to word it...that's funny. ----------- It would be better than going to court. ----------- Anything is better than going to court. :) -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

there is still hope for us heavily-opressed straight, white, educated males. --------------- Just so we're clear, I wouldn't fight to get money from the NAACP, or the UNCF...nor would I fight for a parade for straight people, nor would I insist that I get a larger airplane at the rental price of a smaller one. My point is that I could easily file these complaints on the basis on which this suit seems to stand. It's just plain ridiculous. Here's a question...if a licensed skydiver comes to a drop zone, should the drop zone be required to have an interpreter at all times while the jumper is there? What if he or she has a question, or gets hurt, etc.? -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Come to think of it, here are a couple of things that I would like... I'm tall, and I want to get my private pilot's license...150's are insanely uncomfortable because of the length of my legs, but 172's are going to cost $20-$30 more per hour than the smaller planes. I think the company should be required to provide me a 172 at a 150 price, because this is a physical limitation. I am uncomfortable in commercial airplanes, because I am tall...I think they should be required to lengthen the legroom in airplanes to accomodate tall people. I have ADD, and sometimes pay my bills late. I think that the credit card companies, etc., should not be allowed to charge me late fees, because of my disability. I'm white, therefore don't see myself getting financial aid from the United Negro College Fund. I think the government should set up funds specifically for white children to go to college. Shall I continue? :) -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

They are required to provide the interpreter, if someone is stubborn enough to demand one. -------------- A) I agree that they shouldn't have to pay for an interpreter themselves... (the deaf people, that is) B) I agree that she is being annoying as hell, and that she is wrong to make the demands that she has... C) Are they, in fact, required to provide an interpreter, or are they required to make it as accessible to people with disabilities as it is to those without? By providing it in written form, I believe that they have done just that, made it accessible to her. If it was really that much of a problem, it seems to me that it would have come up before her 3rd tandem. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

I wonder about those dropzones close by the border, like in El Paso, San Marcos, SPI, Eloy, Perris... will they be sued because they don't have Spanish-language Tandem and AFF courses? ---------------- Spanish speakers would have no grounds for a suit like this, because they are not protected under the ADA like the deaf, blind, etc. Although sign is a language, it is not a choice, it is something that is forced based on a person's disability. They would say that a spanish speaking person chooses not to learn english, therefore, need not be catered to. The deaf, though, they would say, have been forced into this lifestyle, and if we have any sort of compassion, then we would do everything in our power to help them to lead a normal life. What's worse, is that we do see things like this creeping into our systems...like in schools with ESL classes, etc. Not that they are horrible bad things, but it is a place where people are fighting for their "rights" based on a language, and nothing more. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Unfortunately, my guess is that Hastings will probably lose. -------------- What they would be saying by doing that is that EVERY business would be required to have an interpreter available at all times. The dropzone would have opportunity to get an interpreter based on the fact that they have reservations...to say that part of the ADA states that an interpreter must be available, that would mean that restaurants would have to have interpreters for their menus, that stores would have to have interpreters to tell the person how much their total is, because they don't WANT to read it off of the monitor, etc. etc. etc. There are so many ramifications that would follow this decision, that I have a feeling that they will be pointed out (if Hastings' attorney is worth a damn), and they will be considered by the court. Especially with the statements made by the lady in the interview...we're not talking about someone who is uneducated, she knows how to read and write...it wasn't a matter of what she could and could not do...I think they'll see the stupidity and manipulation in this and rule in the DZ's favor. At least I would hope. :) -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

If you're ugly and you think handsome men have it easier, you're wrong. -------------- Um...I agreed with everything but this. :) -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

There are many ways in which I envy deaf people...at the same time, though, we live in a world that revolves around the hearing, which is completely understandable. For that reason, I do see it as a disability, but not in the way that many see it. I have taken people on tandems to whom I could not say a word (japanese), as well as taken deaf people to whom I could sign. I was very happy to be able to sign to the passengers, but if I weren't there, they wouldn't have complained or been turned away. The funniest part about them was the fact that they were from Germany...the mother did not speak English nor ASL...the daughter's first language was German Sign, second was German, third was English, and fourth was ASL. So, english was in no way her native language, and she didn't bitch and moan about having to read and write to be understood when I wasn't around. For some in this world, it's all about being a victim. It's sad. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

(Of course, that would make her a non-victim and we can't have that.) ------------ "Hi, yeah, this is Nail, yeah, I'm being hit on the head." :) -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

So her interview was written, but she couldn't read and write well enough to understand to arch and pull? I know this will come as a shock, but I could go on forever bitching about shit like this. :) -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

the question... what posses you guys to do the things you do... I Just don't get it... do you mean to hurt us when you say things or do you just not realize that they are going to be hurtful... Blue Skies, Safe Flys!!!!!!!! -------------- A) This is a massive generalization B) The following comments are regarding 2 people, regardless of gender. When something is said and it is hurtful, there are 2 sides...the one that says it, and the one that interprets it. The one that says it is not ALWAYS the one that is wrong. That being said, there are things that men say to men, women say to women, and women say to men, that are also hurtful...this isn't just something that "men do". Now here is my question...why is it that women take such pride in being so hard to understand, laugh at guys for having to work so hard, and then turn around and act hurt and upset when we say something "wrong" (I put wrong in quotes, cause it may or may not actually be wrong, but that it how it is interpreted). -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Experience is going to dictate exactly what an "abort" looks like. Most times, an abort by JC will be better than 90% of the swoops you see Joe Jumper making on the weekends. Just like that other guy said, JC and others change it up from time to time when they haven't executed a perfect approach. It's kind of like a bowler getting a strike, but not being happy with his/her delivery, or a golfer hitting a great shot, but not being happy with the stroke. I bail on my plan from time to time, but it's extremely rare that I won't have any swoop and just come straight in. Long spots and canopy traffic, I think, are the main factors that I can think of right off the top of my head. Like the other guy said...swooping starts from the time you open, getting position, etc. Good to see you back. Thanks for the PM. Good question. And good on you for not forcing the swoop when things just aren't right. Steve _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

I've also heard of them getting caught in doors and on struts... ouch! Steve _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

If a friend calls you up to bail him out of jail, what do you do? -------------- From what it said, it sounded more to me like he was "released", not bailed out. Bailing someone out, I think comes with responsibilities, but if the person was mearly picking him up cause he didn't have a ride, to hold him responsible for ANY actions made by the person is completely rediculous...at what point would he not be responsible? The article said specifically that since he did not take the man home, he was responsible...what does home have to do with it? I agree with the people saying that our society is always looking for someone to blame. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Whatever you do, do it as soon as possible. I left mine out for a time, and damn near had to cut my canopy away a couple months back. The excess tied in a knot around my toggle as I unstowed it...I was flying straight, but had no control. Fortunately, got it undone. Oops! :-) Steve _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Everyone, We need to rally together and refuse to allow our friend to go back into the closet. You're out now, you don't have to be scared anymore. :-) Steve _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Just for the record , I am not gay , I do not kiss guys , nor have I ever questioned my sexuality . ------------------- With the enormous outpouring of support for the gay community that we have seen in the other thread, this shocks me. I'm saddened to see you trying to run back into the closet when you have been accepted with open arms for who you are. Stay strong! Be yourself! Be proud! You have already outed yourself...no point in turning back now. We all support you...don't deny your instincts, don't deny who you really are. It's ok, we're here for you. :-) Steve _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Richard, if you never ever mention liking girls, never bring a girlfriend to the DZ, never hold hands with a girl, or marry a girl, then I'll stay in the closet. Fair? --------------- Perfectly fair...I have the right to be openly hetero, you have the right to be openly gay. Don't expect me to enjoy it if I have to see you kiss, but I have no right (or desire) to stop you. Here is the problem I do have with gays. On the surface, it would seem that it would be a good thing for heteros, cause it's one more lady available to the male population. On the other hand, though, they take more than their fair share, cause chicks love to hang out with gay guys. So, although they may come to us for sexual satisfaction, we are "never as sensative as their gay friend". Can we work on that please? Then, I would have no remaining problem with gay people. :-) Steve _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...
