Maybe the next rank should be Dilbert. flyhi

Weren't there some people who paid the ultimate for that? Don't know the whole story. flyhi

I heard people say that they don't like psycho packing because you induce a line twist which, if you are not careful, you might not take out or might make worse. A weak argument if you are paying attention, but I could see how someone might put in the line twist and then, in a hurry, put in a second by turning the canopy the wrong way. Sounds weak really. But at the time, they were more experienced than me. flyhi

Heh heh heh. She said, "Pitch a tent." Who's February? flyhi

Exactly what I'm saying! Half the stiffs wouldn't get that line, and the other half would be outraged, offended, or snooty. Life's not that serious and none of us are getting out of here alive, anyway. flyhi

Went to the "Company" Christmas Party last night. What a yawnapalooza. No one drank too much. No one (male or female) took off their top. Tried to get a bonfire going and they made me unstack the chairs. No inappropriate music. No fights. No one launching a tube out of the bathroom door. There wasn't even any blue, green, or purple hair. After you've partied with skydivers, nothing else is ever the same. There are a whole lot of boring people out there...and none of them are us. Thanks for being you, guys! flyhi

Sounds like a great pick-up line. Now would that be juggling balls, clubs, or kittens? A query from the Land of the Hanging Chad flyhi

First jump at a new DZ, first jump in a new state, first CASA jump. I brought Beck's, Heinie's and Corona. Something for everyone, right? The most frequent comment heard was, "No Michelob?" "Give me a couple of minutes to process this stuff and it will be just like Mick!" JT: Where do you jump? It might be worth a cross country trip to get free Boddington's. flyhi

It also helps you get into tight formations like compressed accordions. The ROT that pilots use for the temperature lapse rate is 2 degrees per thousand feet. What I have found is when you get out high & cold, it doesn't seem that cold anymore once you get on the ground. No duh, huh? flyhi

So Dave, any Elf Sex in LOTR? I've heard, once you go elf, you'll never come back. True? flyhi

Five. Thought I would answer like an engineer. flyhi

"Careful son, that might be loaded." I'll miss him. flyhi

When I was in Seventh Grade, my Biology teacher asked, "How do you know that everything you see around was not just created and all the people created with the memories of all that went before?" Very Matrix-ian for that time. However, never do that to a Seventh Graders mind. It's really not nice. flyhi

I salute you Aggie D for not taking the obvious cheap shot of saying those porns were only on the mini-digital tapes anyway. That would have just been wrong. Sorry I didn't pick you out Chuck. It is an incredible tape. Recommend it to everyone. flyhi

Rainy day at the DZ this weekend and someone broke out the Ranch Pond Swoop video. They never showed Chuck jumping or swooping, but they did two or three interviews with him. He said he was ahead of everyone else on his team in the standings, so it must have been true, right? Skydivers don't lie. (Insert emoticon of tongue-in-cheek here) flyhi

Rookie!! We don't push people off the hill...we turn points on it. Another technique is to find a good 4-Way RW team and ask them to show you their yuan. That could get you invited into the inner circle. Or, if you get to FL, I'm sure we could set up a nice little jump for you. Just let us know. flyhi

That happened a lot this weekend. We had a fresh-off-AFF-status jumper back out of hop and pop when he looked out the door. He didn't realize how low he was going to have to get out. If you haven't jumped static line, it can be scary. I made one at about 2200 ft. I tasted adrenalin on exit again. Not asking for a steady diet of that, but every once and a while it is fun...or at least different. Hang in there. flyhi

Read in Parachutist that Brian Germain and Big Air Sportz are going to start selling Samaurai's through dealers soon. Wonder if there is a "bytch" from the "sky" (and I say that with the utmost respect) or anyone anywhere who would know the specifics, i.e. when, who, how much, special introductory offers, deals,... Jumped one at one of the Boogies, and it was sweet. flyhi

If you set anything up at Deland, let me know. Will be OOC from 26 Dec through 1 Jan, but any other time is fine. flyhi

I thought 1/2 rho V Squared was actually the formula for dynamic pressure, e.g. the pressure created when you put your hand out of the car window and vary your speed? (Ask a bicylcist the difference he feels between 12 mph and 24. It is a factor of 4, not 2.) If you do an analysis of the units of this, the result says that 1/2 rho V ^2 is actually a force per unit area, such as pounds per square foot, rather than just a force like lift. flyhi

Who's got the most creative paintjob on his jump-s
flyhi replied to Meatbomber's topic in The Bonfire
You did say gunship, didn't you? Could be a jump ship. I think the MI-24 Hind could carry nine(?) pax. Without all that armor and bullets, probably more. flyhi -
Have done flying on the back and tried to sit down to a formation once. It was too vertical and took a lot more time to stop and move in. But had to try it. The basketball coach at Towson University in Maryland is also named Mike Hunt. They led a news story off the other day with, "And in sports, Mike Hunt is sore about the outcome of a recent dispute..." flyhi

Another point is: What do you do if you Go Low, and can't get up in time? I have been with guys (not pejorative, I call everyone guys) who, once low and thinking they can't get back to the formation, track off and "safely open away from the formation". I say, this is wrong as the people in the formation don't know where the low people are. If you're low, you try to get back until the break off altitude and then, turn and track. Then, you are committed to the lowest pull altitude you are willing to accept; I would say between 2500 and 2000 feet. If you are not willing to pull this low, you are endangering everyone else in the formation. And everyone in the dive needs to discuss this before the dive. If you track off early and open at 3500 to 3000, you are an unanticipated target for everyone else. Ask the people who were at the World Record Attempt at Chicago. I have removed the kevlar, so go ahead and take a shot at this philosophy. Anyone? Anyone? Ferris? flyhi

And I thought I was brave because I had a goat "rhodi" in Trinidad once. Don't knock 'em if you haven't tried them...then you definitely will. Yes, alcohol was involved. "Gutsiest move I ever saw, Mav!" flyhi

Was killing time at the 'Mart (Wal not K) waiting for pix to finish and I wandered into the sewing section. Found a Scooby Doo print that screamed Freefly suit. Matter of time, baby! flyhi
