  1. i used an airless to paint stucco and it worked great once i learned how to use it, the work went real fast Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  2. thank you !!! that is the first time anyone ever called me sane.!!! hahahaha! I owe beer, It has been a while. now see this is how arguements get started by misintrepreting carefully crafted language demonstrating a single moment of sanity does not make one sane just as changing a spark plug does not make one a master mechanic Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  3. Mark - glad to see you add some sanity, here's my $0.02 worth i'm not a swooper but like to watch swoopers, what I am is an old fart that is tired of seeing people hurt themselves and hurt others, I'm all about safety, whatever it takes Agree - swooping is not a crime but wreckless canopy piloting might be if it hurts someone else, a judge or jury will have to decide if it is a "crime" and undoubtedly we will give them that chance wreckless canopy piloting could be a swooper, an accuracy nut hovering in the pattern, joe blow not following the landing pattern, a confused student, etc. Brian stated that, "...large sector of the skydiving population is in danger of extinction...", i disagree, seems a little sensational, we have a progressive DZ and probably less than 10% are "swoopers", but this statement is not worth bickering over why are we bickering over semantics, statistics, etc.? USPA is NOT the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT swooping is here to stay - I agree and hope that is true education is one solution but not the total solution, some refuse to be educated, and some simply have not collected enough skills to be safe under all conditions, sometimes that is the low timer or it may be the high timer - sitting where you are raise your hand if you know exactly how to do and have recently practiced a flat turn, and would comfortably do one to avoid a collision, something to think about to simply ban something that can be managed otherwise seems silly - at least to me, but as others have said the DZ belongs to the owner and they get to make the rules, we might be our own worst enemy but arguing so much about "rights", and walking too far, and "no fair" that the DZO finally says - ENOUGH and takes the easy way out with a NO my DZ has chosen to create a separate landing area, it is walkable but further away but we pick em up in a vehicle if DZs refuse to deal with the situation then maybe(?) a BSR is a good idea, BSRs tend to add credibility and force DZOs to think about them, violating a BSR is a bad thing if you end up in court, in the absence of law the legal system will usually fall back to commonly accepted practice - the BSRs I think that ultimately we all want the same thing, a relatively safe environment in which to enjoy our sport, but simply disagree on how to get there let's take the emotion out of this issue and rationally determine a viable path to a workable solution Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  4. agree, stay away from Wal-Mart, etc. and add Sears to that list - these tires are not the same as what you get at a dealer but don't quite understand the comment about Goodyear, I'm running 5 vehicles right now: 3 SUV's, a Mustang and a Lexus, 1 SUV is on Firestone's but due for a change, everything else is presently on Goodyear on the SUV's I'm getting 70-80K on the RTS Wranglers, got 86K on a set of the "defect" Firestone's, got 80K on another set of Firestone's, Mustang has factory shoes so don't know yet, the Lexus eats soft tires but am getting 55-60K on a set used to run Yokohoma on a Toyota and got great service from them but that was 15 years ago I'm in SC and don't have to deal with snow, what am I missing here about Goodyears? 5. Whistler, BC 46' of snow this season http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/weather/cams/whistler/index.htm Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  6. Step 1 - send helper under house but seriously, use some house jacks made for this purpose, extend the support beam at each end to the "good" joists and attach the beam to the joists, hang a small weight from each end of the beam down to the ground to measue how much you are raising the beam, go slow Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  7. Not until I've found a naked picture of the bitch and posted it, I haven't.... That you are actively seeking a picture of Rosie in the buff is proof that you truely are depraved. depraved or deprived Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 9. that will work, local pest companies have folks that do this all the time and they might give you some advice, regardless I'd get an engineer to certify the design and the final product so when resale time comes you won't have any problems, when you install the support beam under the joists, install the jacks and tighten them about 1/8" a day to avoid creating any other damage Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  10. you have redeemed yourself Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  11. And how do we define a "real" swooper as compared to a "non-real" swooper? Is a real swooper only someone who competes? With the egos in skydiving, I can only imagine the discussions that might come about from telling certain guys that they are not real swoopers. Apparently Real Swoopers(TM) don't do things that might kill other people. this thread is growing ALMOST faster than I can read, so now we have 2 kinds of swoopers - "real" and "think they are real", which one was D. Page?, physically separating the landing areas seems to be what works - at least for now, our DZ has done that and it seems to be working Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  12. Daaaaaayuuuuum.... That is a new low!!! you're just jealous you didn't post it first - Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

  14. reached an unattainable goal?, must have seemed unattainalbe but really was not bottom line is you can solve anything if you throw enough money at it, the question is does it make any sense to do that Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 18. AZ - agree, i was focusing on the Arkansas weather, similar to what we have in South Carolina, climates like yours require different solutions Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  19. OK so I'm also an old fart, so you probably won't hear this input, but I'm still here, livin large every day most skydivers I've seen with this type of attitude either voluntarily quit jumping, were thrown off the DZ or died so Jarrett - which will it be for you? it is easier to learn from others experience than to learn from your own be safe, but if not don't take anyone else with you Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  20. sounds like you have this type soffit vent http://www.cornerhardware.com/howto/ht076.html avoid the fan by installing a few of these passive vents http://www.airvent.com/homeowner/products/staticVents-roofLouvers.shtml hot air rises out the roof vents and that action pulls in cooler air thru the soffit vents, the goal is not necessarily to "cool" the whole attic, it will be hotter near the roof deck, what matters is the temperature at the level of the insulation what is equally important is how much insulation you have Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  21. kill your roofer, power vents are BS except as a last resort retrofit product, they use electricity, don't ventilate enough, make noise and break - along with the other real problems mentioned in earlier posts, if you had a new roof installed and there is adequate length on the ridge (at least 50% of the roof line) then they should have put in a ridge vent or a few passive ventilaters having said that you are probably stuck with what you got if the attic has an R30 or more insulation, set the Tstat as high as it will go up to about 120 degrees, if the insulation is less than R30 then add more to get an R30 or better yet R38 at 120 degrees the insulation can handle a 40-50 degree delta Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
