Negative reactions to the sport
Nataly replied to NorrinRadd's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I looked for ages to find this documentary a while ago... About Karina Hollekim and part of her journey into BASE, recovering from an injury, et cetera. 20 seconds of joy I watched it and thought it was totally inspiring... Then I read the comments (not from this link - another streaming site which I can't find anymore)... I was shocked by all the negativity from wuffos... People saying she obviously had a death wish and people saying she was a waste of rescue resources and a drain on health-care providers and anger that her medical care was paid for by hard-working tax payers (as opposed to irresponsible thrill-seakers)... Wow... So much hate for someone pursuing her dream... Some people just don't "get it"... And they never will. I think that was clear

Do you take it personally and hold a grudge when a friend trolls you for fun?
Nataly replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Do my friends troll me?? No way - never... Do they tease me CONSTANTLY?? HELL YES!!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss -
I'm sure that's because you trained your replacement(s) so well

Worth upgrading HD on 2010 iMac, or time for a new one??
Nataly replied to guineapiggie101's topic in The Bonfire
My iMac is either late 2008 or early 2009 (I can never remember!!)... I recently upgraded the memory card myself - very easy with great instructions found on youtube. Also great instructions on changing the HD but decided instead to clean it up, move files (especially movies) to an external drive. Dirt cheap upgrade and a very noticeable difference in performance. Also, did you recently change your OS? Did you upgrade or reinstall from scratch? Reinstalling from scratch gives a much better performance. Still very happy with my (old) iMac -
Wow... Maybe you should draw a happy face on the bump... Then people would *really* not know what to say! Hope this is a turning point in all the shite you've had to put up with... Here's hoping to a better year ahead than the one behind

Don't you have any [real] friends??! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

I think whenever you are in a tightly knit group (friends, jumpers, work) dating/breakups have a lot of potential for awkwardness... Still... I've had breakups where I never saw the person again... Sure, moving on is quicker, but the sudden change is still really *weird* (not to mention a little bit traumatising). Only ever had one completely easy breakup... A great friend but absolutely no chemistry... We decided to just stay friends... Turned out for the better because he's gay!! +1 I was going to say keep your chin up and hope it heals quickly and empathise with your rough year... But mostly I want to see the gory pictures!!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Some know. Some have been there. I *still* feel bad about fucking up on the restaurant's schedule All that way just for one drink... Hope I get to make it up to both of you one day!!! Mmm hmmm... I remember your reaction to that thread. I stand by my conviction that a person doing a bad job should not be rewarded with a bonus. Not me, not waitresses, not irresponsible bankers. No one. If karma is about getting what you deserve, then let it throw everything right back in my face. I'm not worried - I even look forward to it!!

It's not that I'm in over my head at work... But sometimes I ask myself "where is my added value?" And I honestly can say that I think I'm totally replaceable. I would so love to know that my contribution *means* something. The more I obsess about it, though, the more I feel guilty for caring too much about my work and not enough about the really important stuff (like friends, family, health, et cetera). And then I feel less focused at work and guilty about that... I guess you could say I'm in a bit of a rut. I think if I had kids, the guilt would literally kill me - it already feels crippling and I actually have very little to really/legitimately feel guilty about!! That is all for my random ramblings for now. Carry on. It's a great initiative for a great cause... I'm certain the good karma catches up with you, John

They're just pulling your leg... After 25 years, you will find out it actually takes 30... After 30, they will say it went up to 35, et cetera, et cetera...! Of course not. You talk funny. Yep... In England my English is funny... In France my French is funny... My Swedish is funny... My Italian is hysterical... My Arabic is laughable... Should I become a comedienne??!! It seems I'm hilarious!! Awww... That just reminds me of a story I heard somewhere... A guy had clouds over him and wherever he went, these clouds followed him and pissed rain on him... This guy was totally depressed, cursing his bad luck, et cetera. Which is a shame, because the clouds absolutely loved him... They loved him so much, they showered him with rain everywhere he went so he would grow and blossom and be happy... Something to do with different perspectives... Court calls law profs' 17-year divorce fight 'appalling'

Oh no... They will never consider me to be "one of them." Lovely use of "flat" instead of "appartment" btw!! You know my fondness for British-isms!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
