Certainly not. They were, uh, critiquing my writing. To be honest with you, poor penmanship is usually a euphemism for "you don't know how to work your equipment!" Apparently not. Last night I called the lady who hit my bike to confirm she had contacted the company insurance.. She picked up the phone and immediately let me know she couldn't talk long because she was driving! ARGH! As if that weren't bad enough, turns out she sent an email late last night but hasn't fully reported it, so they are now "looking into it" but refusing to help me out until they speak to her.. Meanwhile, my bike is now leaking radiator fluid, I can't locate the leak, and can't get into work.. I'm paid by the hour and the whole thing is really PISSING ME OFF. It just seems to me that the little things are not the problem - they are the symptoms.. So by addressing the symptoms you don't (seem to) get to the root of the problem. Confronting the issues as they arise in this case looks a little bit more like avoiding the real problem(s).. Again.. I'm only going by what little you have posted on here, and my impression isn't necessarily an accurate assessment of the situation. I was asking for advice so i could talk to her about it further...since my previous attempts werent working. Maybe you shouldnt skim things if you plan on commenting. Edit to add: Since apperently I wasnt clear in the first post I have tried discussing this several times with her. Not the issues as a whole but I address little things as they come up. In case anyone else missed it in my first post i did point i always try to confront problems early on. So...so sum up AGAIN...for the skimmers....this has been discussed. Nothing changed. That is why i am looking for different approaches since mine did not work. I don't think he's necessarily skimming.. You may have hinted, but it doesn't sound like you've really communicated how you feel to her (and yet you're being very open on here). I'm not criticising, but certainly the way forward seems to be to talk to her.. I'm obviously only getting your side of the story, but let me just say this.. My recent ex really wanted to move in with me, but every time he was in "my space" he drove me nuts.. I lived with the guy before him for about 4 years, and we almost *never* got in each-other's nerves.. It's made me realise that some people you can live with and others you can't. She was on the phone with the guy when it happened and he knew it was my bike, so he called me. She stayed behind to apologise about a million times and reassure me she would sort everything out. She felt really awful about it. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Yeah.. She *really* should not have hit my bike.. It was well in view, out of the way, in the designated motorcycle parking bay - and you'd have to be driving in the wrong direction to hit it.. Which she was.. Because she was distracted by her phone call.. OMG who *is* that guy??! Fucking hilarious! Nice link

Well, although that would be nice, all I really want is for the bike to be fixed without too much hassle and to not lose any money.. Hopefully the company insurance will sort everything out. As for her doing anything nice.. I mean.. She didn't purposely hit my bike & I just hope she learns her lesson and never again picks up her phone whilst driving - it's fucking dangerous. I should have taken pictures right at the site but I was a bit thrown by who it was and it never occurred to me until I got home. I would prefer to have pics of the site as well, as there were marks from where it fell. And sorry, the incident didn't inspire me to take pics of my breasts, so anyone looking forward to that is just shit out of luck! Holy crap.. Both guys' pants must've been a bit brown after that one.. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

That can't really be helped.. Turtle's imagination is so fertile that anything the women post could be twisted into something devious!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Meh.. I know it's just a 250, but it's still a Ninja, and still *looks* like a big bike (to those who don't know any better)!! Thing is.. I've never dropped my bike, but it's easily done.. And it seems to me a lot cheaper to install the slider than replace the panels.. People make fun of me because I wear pretty heavy-duty leathers.. And again, I couldn't care less.. I may look like a wannabe racer, but I'm guessing if I ever come off the bike I'll be *really* happy I invested in all that gear. Frame Sliders are your friend. I'm guessing that the plastic got a bit scuffed/cracked. Frame Sliders are designed to hit the ground before the rest of the bike and prevent that kind of damage. They are especially effective at low speed stuff and tip-overs. Oh hey, that's super cool - had no idea those existed! I will *definitely* ask the dealership about them when I take it into the shop

Didn't you mean it this way? I'm thinking Nat could have been the youngest VP ever. I don't think even the liberal pussies in this country could spin that into a big job promotion... but I'm sure they'd try... something like Nat's civil rights were violated by the racist boss that backed over her scooter... Hee hee!! Well, she told me she picked up her phone and didn't want to talk and drive, so instead of going through the parking lot gate and onto the main road, she backed the car into the corner (which happens to be the motorcycle parking bay).. Being on the phone whilst driving is illegal in the UK.. So the reason she hit my bike is because she broke the law.. And I *could* put that in the police report, or I could ask for a raise!! No, not really. I mean yes, I could do that, but I wouldn't! Thing is, there were witnesses, and her colleagues are NEVER gonna let her live it down! To me, the one good thing in this is that hopefully now she's more aware of looking out for bikes. And if that translates into her driving and watching out for bikers, then she's just that little bit less dangerous to us on the roads. Don't think it's gonna be a big fix - looks like she was going slow and it tipped over - the damage seems pretty minimal. Piano movers - they probably pick brawn over brains every time. Wow, I'm trying to imagine the sound of a piano being dropped down a flight of stairs. I'm imagining it tumbling and bouncing, just for better effects.

So it's 6:30 pm on Friday, and I'm about to (finally) escape the office when I get a call from my boss' boss.. I reluctantly picked it up, and he was making small-talk like he was about to tell me something really unpleasant.. I thought he was gonna ask me to work all weekend, but no.. He was just calling to let me know that his boss' boss' boss just reversed her car into my bike and tipped it over!! D'oh! Luckily, the damage seems to be only cosmetic. Also lucky is that she has a company car & the company insurance will sort everything out. So now I'm wondering the obvious.. How much of a pay rise should I ask for?? After the movers dropped my parent's new piano down a flight of stairs, my mom pointed out that the piano was never going to sound any good because they'd just broken the sound-board.. The guy looked at her like *she* was a complete moron and said "ma'am.. that has nothing to do with the sound".. I would like to see: -big splat -black backdrop -far picture of the crowd (not the close-up) "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss -
Listen.. Just because I don't think it always applies, doesn't mean I think your theory is bad.. In fact, I find it interesting - and I think it makes sense. Wow.. That is a really interesting thought.. I used to be an over-achiever - I used to set my sights on something, work hard, and get it.. Still have the personality, the drive and the work ethic, but I've also had a lot of failures over the last few years.. I guess to me, it isn't meaningful if I haven't earned it. Ok - sometimes I am simply lucky.. But I mean I wouldn't feel proud of myself if I cheated to get something.. Case in point.. Tomorrow I'm re-taking an accountancy exam for the 4th time. It's frustrating, it's embarrassing, it discredits me at work, and I think I'm likely to fail it again.. But I'm not going to cheat on it. It's just not how I want to succeed in life. I reckon it probably means I could still be successful, but not *uber* successful (unless I get lucky!). Edit to say: I *do* think you're spot on about never being happy and always wanting more.. Just don't think that necessarily leads to cheating. I don't know about that.. Some people genuinely have the numbers but they don't have the skills!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Hmm.. Interesting.. Well, I would certainly like to think that they are punished for their sins!! Perhaps from the outside we don't see all the sacrifices they make to get to where they are.. Still.. Not sure I can muster up a whole lot of sympathy for those "poor rich/successful people"!! Now we know why they are not allowed to drive . . .

I'm an honest person. I'm not even sure if it's because I'm principled, or because I'm too afraid of getting caught!! Probably a mixture of both.. But then I often wonder.. Can you get to a *really* high position in life without cheating?? Do people who are good at cheating get farther in life?
