Selling your gear will only encourage you NOT to jump.. The money you will get from it will disappear fast and it might be difficult for you to save it up again. Keep it unless you're sure you don't want to jump anymore. There isn't a Tim Hortons in my neighborhood. Not even here in Northern Manitoba. That's just wrong... Timmy's should be *everywhere*!!! And Spence - I freakin' *LOVE* that song

Maybe instead of just telling her how you feel, do that *and* ask her to tell her point of view. Try to ask questions instead of just going into a rant/lecture - understanding "why" someone behaves a certain way can help.. If the intention is good, sometimes it can really change the way you feel about something they do/say.. Remember - a good conversation involves talking *and* listening.. So make sure she has room to speak/respond/react as much as you do. Last but not least: if you're going to discuss some complex issues, remember to gives yourselves time to think about a it because a solution may not be immediately obvious.. Sometimes a discussion turns sour because you focus so much on the fact that you "disagree", when actually you haven't even given yourselves enough time/perspective to look at the problem from different angles.. If you're going to talk about some big issues, there's nothing wrong with agreeing to discuss it, with the view that you will both take some time to think about how best to resolve the issue(s) and revisit the topic after a few days/weeks. Good luck whatever you decide.. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Offer to buy them a "double-double"

Yeah.. I put it in there because my ex kept saying it was a good idea, but in spite of the vote numbers, the majority of the advice given has strengthened my opinion that it's not what I'm looking for. Still good to get a range of points of view, though. Why do they think they have to give everything a fancy title? It is called "Teenager" "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

I'm picking up a lot of red flags.. That you loved her for 6 years whilst she was married to someone else is one of them.. You may not have said anything, but I'm sure she knew you liked her. It just strikes me as a very imbalanced way to start a relationship.. Pressuring someone into anything is usually a bad sign. There are exceptions.. But *usually* it's a bad sign. She's tired of struggling and not spending money?? Doesn't she have her own money to spend? It's called being a grown-up and not spending more than you have.. She shouldn't resent you for how you choose to invest *your* money. She's a big girl, she can make her own money and spend that. She is jealous? After knowing you for 7+ years? Not good. All in all, I'm not hearing a whole lot of positives here.. Maybe it's because you were frustrated when you posted.. But so far it doesn't sound good.. At the very least, you need to talk to her.. *Really* talk to her. Even if all of this is misinterpretation on your part, things will not improve if you guys don't communicate. Nah.. The R6 just seems like overkill, and plus I can't imagine it's extremely comfortable either.. Someone mentioned visibility as well.. Basically, I don't think it's the right bike for commuting.. I didn't like how high or heavy the Bandit 650 was, but overall I felt a whole lot safer with it on the motorways.. Ideally, I would like something that's still pretty small and light, but with just a bit more acceleration than the 250cc / 33bhp. My guess is because she mentioned parking it on the street....It may not be there when she gets back! Doh! That's right. Maybe one of these then? I also have to ride around on the thing and I wouldn't be caught dead on either of those!! Did make me laugh, though! Why would I want to date a guy who owns a girly bike? ah I get it you would rather date someone with ape hanger bars - allow you to get the most of their manly scent when riding along behind I am also told that there is a nice "vibe" to that kind of bike that puts a smile on ladies faces! I don't want a particular "type" of man.. But I damn well want my own bike!! You can get after market seats that lower the stance on the SV650. Also, being a naked bike, it usually is cheaper to insure (when I ran quotes in the US against other similar 650's). And, if you drop it, or, say, you boss runs into it again, there is no plastic to repair/replace, so much cheaper to repair. And it's a fun bike! I saw one today parked right next to my Ninja.. I don't like the look of it quite as much as the sportier bikes (with all that expensive plastic!), but I could see myself on one

The Bandit is meant to be comfortable?? I didn't think it was! My Ninja is *way* more comfy, but that's probably because it's so small.. Also, I hated the engine cage, which my boot kept snagging on when I changed gears, but looking at pictures I'm not sure if that comes as standard.. The main thing I didn't like about the Bandit (apart from how ugly it is!!) was the weight.. Too heavy for me, although if the seat had been lower it might have been ok. THANK YOU.. This confirms what I thought, but my friend (who has been riding for like 25 years) is getting an R1 and has been nagging me to get an R6.. I said *exactly* that to him, so it's nice hear it from someone else. That said, if anyone has other opinions, do feel free to post so I can get a balanced view. Ok.. Have looked at the specs.. Doesn't seem to be *huge* differences between the ER6 and SV, but SV seems quite reliable and more affordable.. Do you know if the seat can be lowered, though? It seems a lot higher than my Ninja and I'm only 5'5".. Not short, but not exactly tall.. Which one should I get? Just got my Ninja 250 back from the shop and after riding around on a Suzuki Bandit 650 for 3 weeks it feels like I've just done a jump with a student canopy!!! So yeah.. Didn't especially like how heavy the bike was but overall, I liked having more power and acceleration & found it easy to ride. Factors to consider include: -I have to park it on the street, so I don't want anything too new -Cost (incl. insurance) -Most of my riding is commuting to work (on large highways) "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
