What? I'f flown a lot and carried on rigs. United, Delta, Korean Air, and Southwest off the top of my head and no problems whatsoever. I've flown internationally, no problems. I usually travel with two rigs and I check one and carry one due to carry-on restrictions. I've never had a problem either way. I do leave a note in checked baggage attached to the rig to please contact me prior to opening the container. Don't know if it'll ever help, but I figured it's worth a shot. I just can't carry on both rigs and have to check one when I take two. Oh yeah, I always carry on the better of the two! I also carry the Cypres card that has an explanation to airport security, but I've never needed it or even taken it out. Speed of delivery is kind of trivial between standard and first class. First Class, however, if you move, will be forwarded to your new address. Standard delivery will not. Of course, this very minor point can be solved by contacting USPA and ensuring they have your current address. The bottom line: I don't think the upgraded delivery is worth the price. Just my 2 cents. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

Well, I didn't just "discover" them, but I just got another chance to see Van Halen live. Never thought I'd get a chance to see them again. Dug out all the old Van Halen music and got the Best of Both Worlds CDs. They're still one of my favorites and Eddy has still got it. What is the nrearest DZ to Jackson Hole, WY ?
nbblood replied to DaveFabian's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Well, the Army has taken me to a new location, that being Leavenworth, KS for CGSC. So, I won't be around so much anymore, but Ogden/Mesquite will always be our home DZs and we'll make it by every once in a while. In the meantime, we've been to quite a few other DZs around. I have a Sabre2 150 in one rig and a Spectre 150 in the other. Just to reiterate what others have said, the Spectre openings are much more likely to be on heading. Body position throughout opening is much more important on a Sabre2. However, the Sabre2 opens nice and soft too. The approach angle on the Spectre is much steeper than a Sabre2. It flies much flatter. The amount of lift a Sabre2 generates is what I really love about the Sabre2. It seems to flare forever. The Sabre2 is also more responsive on toggles. The riser pressure is lighter on the Spectre. Just some of my observations. I like them both, but if I had to make a decisision it would be the Sabre2. Hope that helps. Yeah, what they said. That's why I did it mainly. The new features are all well and good, but for me it was just about supporting the cause. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

Hey, on the day I listed two classifieds too. Sweet! It's about time I contributed to the cause. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

That was already ahead of Fort Campbell anyway. I'd love to come to sunny Fort Lewis, WA.....wait a minute......what I mean is I'd love to come to Fort Lewis. Really, Ft. Lewis is right at the top of my list. I love it there!! Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute. -

That sucks. Fort Campbell was one of my assignment choices, partly because of that club. Gotta go change my preference statement now. Oh, well. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute. -

Um.....didn't you just download those five songs? Burn em to a CD, you've got em. Looks to me like a promotional freebie. By the way, I downloaded "Girl loves a Girl" first because........well....just because! Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

At 3000 AGL??!!! Holy Crap, not a good day to be pulling at 2500 if that were a DZ! Anybody know of any known freefall bird strikes?? I had just ruled out the possibility of birds being that high. Guess I ought to start paying more attention to those migration patterns. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

That's kind of a general question. There's all kinds of containers out there that are great and are good for freeflying. Are you going to buy used or new? What size container are you looking for? What size canopies? What size harness do you need? What options do you want? hip/chest rings? cut-in laterals? How much do you have to spend on a rig? These all affect availability of used containers. I think as a general rule, containers made after 1996 are pretty freefly friendly. That doesn't mean that containers before that are not freefly friendly, just that manufacurers started doing things like increasing bridle protection and going with velcroless tuck tabs around then. Of course if you get a used rig, you should look at tuck tabs (are they stiff and stay in place?) bridle protection (is bridle esposed anywhere?), condition of BOC (worn, stretched BOC=needs to be replaced). If you're going to buy new, every manufacturer is making rigs good for freefly. You can generally find what people like in their profiles (for me Javelin). But it depends on what you want and are willing to spend/wait for. Rigs that I think a lot of that would be excellent purchases are Javelin, Mirage, Vector, Infinity, Wings, Talon 2, Voodoo, etc. I'm sure I missed a couple great rigs, but someone will let you know what I missed. Bottom line is you're question is a little too general. There's tons of great freeflying rigs out there new and used. Oh, and IMHO, it's probably a real good idea to buy used for your first rig. You may downsize out of it in a year or so. You can find a really good freefly friendly rig with Cypres for around $2000-2500. Just my .02. Oh geez, who likes the Alternate League??!! Well I guess the game they play at least resembles baseball. Of course without the strategy of pitching changes and double switches and actual managing of the game meaning near as much. And they've got that DH thing that keeps players into the years that they need walkers to get around the bases. Yes, the AL is a nice substitute for when there's not a real game on. Oh yeah, and how about the Dodgers??!! Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
