  1. The last 2 I've had from PD were 55$ w/ a return shipping label included.
  2. I think that if done properly without screwing around it can be done safe.... With experienced people, I'm sure it can, but you still won't find my ass there.
  3. I did 3 tandems before starting AFF, and like most, I knew nothing about how tandem gear worked, just that we got out, opened a parachute, then landed. My instructors could have asked me if I wanted to go on a drogue-less head-down 8 way and I would have said yes. IMO, whatever the plan was, it shouldn't have been done with a student, as I doubt any student can understand the added risk involved, especially with a TI telling him it's ok. Knowning what I know now, no one could pay me to be on an RW jump as a tandem passenger.
  4. Is it common practice to hang on to the plane by sticking a hand in under the flap on the wing like the camera flyer did in that video?
  5. I honestly don't know, you'd have to ask them.
  6. There's a good reason for that.... You probably liked it a little better because of the size. 10 square feet makes noticeble difference in performance. It's a great canopy. 10sq ft + micro lines + a kill-line PC.
  7. There was a team named Anal Jihad?
  8. Give Kim @ PD a call, she can probably get you one.
  9. Why not demo a few and find out which one you like?
  10. I've jumped both the Nav 240 and the Sil 230, and I liked the Silhouette a little better. It flew pretty similar to the navigator.
  11. Was this on student gear or sport gear?
  12. I know a few people from the DZ in question that have, and I'm glad they did. I've got a few more friends to jump with now.
  13. I got a Sabre2 for 2 weekends for about 50$ (Return shipping included).
  14. I've put about 30 jumps on my Silhouette 230 and I jumped a Sabre2 230 5 times this weekend, both loaded around 1.1 My observations: Openings: I packed both with the nose hanging. The Silhouette openings were great, very soft every time. Only had a few off heading openings, which I would nearly guarantee was either my sloppy packing or poor body position. The sabre2 openings were somewhat brisk, but not hard by any means. Most jumps I had closed end cells, but they were easily fixed by pulling the rear risers down for a few seconds. Had one off heading opening on the Sabre2. Flight: Both canopies have a pretty flat glide, I think the Silhouette was slightly better in full flight than the Sabre2, but it was still easy to hang in brakes and make it back from a long spot on both. The Sil had lighter toggle pressure, and turned a little quicker than the Sabre, but the Sabre would lose more altitude in a turn, and took a little bit longer to recover. Riser turns were much easier on the Sabre2. Landings: The Sabre2 seemed easier to land, especially with no wind. Packing: Packing the Silhouette was much easier than the Sabre2, but the Sabre2 was still pretty slippery. I like them both.
  15. You just reminded me! I have to go to the tequila store...
  16. Stilleto-class (elliptical), but with a longer recovery arc. I've heard rumors of a intermediate canopy in the works from them, but haven't seen anything out yet. Edit: The Nitron is a copy of the Nitro, with a few slight modifications by Precision.
  17. If done correctly, it's not bad. Just have your rigger give it a bath at your next repack.
  18. Wouldn't that make it turn a yucky brown color? And I thought that red Kool-aid was only supposed to be mixed with Everclear (or is that just one of those silly Texas things?) You're supposed to mix everclear? Damn...
  19. As opposed to what? 100 jumps on only part of it? I don't think I could call something with 100 jumps brand new.. "Nearly-new" maybe...
  20. Ehh, it'll probably open, not sure I'd jump it though... Canopy... so big. Bag... so small. Non-Cascaded HMA lines too?
  21. Ehh, it'll probably open, not sure I'd jump it though...
