  1. god I hope no students saw my rig get on the plane before me two weeks ago.... it was a last minute go on the load for a memorial jump, thought the plane wasnt going and it was only two of us on a plane to 4 grand.... oh well.... sometimes people run to the plane when working eh? Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

  3. I just bought a a used mirage from the gear shop owner at the ranch... he had mirage leave out the center grommit on the flap so that you stow the first stow not on the bag and then there are only two grommits on the bag... awesome openings...and the lines are neater too I will post pictures this weekend... 4. Yeah, but it must be kinda cool to have your own x-ray collection Seeing them just makes me want to get my own. In the same way that a racing driver isn't a racing driver until hes rolled a car Note: I am of course joking and do not want to injure myself or suggest anyone else does the same just to get a wicked x-ray collection I have myself been thinking about putting the ones with the titanium in them onto a t shirt ;) Yeah what he experienced is something that I call surge.... the canopy starts to slow down and if you let up on the toggles the g forces lessen and you basically have a bit of freefall going on...Brian German talked about this on skydive radio a bit ago, we swoopers do some degree use this principle when starting our turns... but low to the ground, not so good. here is a clicky to Brian's interview...buy his book too and start pulling high, it will teach you about your canopy.... http://www.skydiveradio.com/show_files/sr14_11_08_05.mp3 Good vibes and fast healing to your friend :) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  5. And now for the More Zen approach, you are all dying everyday you are living... As far as flying loads, I jump at a DZ that does thats for sure...has caught some slack for that, unless there is some extraordinary reason like hellfire winds or a thunderstorm, why shouldnt they...Shit I would be the first to run to the grocery and get some flowers and do a flower drop on a load that day...theres somethign kinda touchign about jumping out of a plane with flowers, like how they blow apart in your face and stuff... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  6. wow great minds think alike Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  7. So you are hoping to go in one day? I find that disturbing..... I think you are reading more into it than what was meant.... Then they need to choose different words because it's exactly what was said. She's hoping that one day in the future her family says she died skydiving (doing something she loves). Geeze man she might die doing somethign else she loves, or someone else for that matter and then her friends might say she died doing someone she loved I too hope I die doing something I love rather than having some random boring accident take me in some stupid way... Edited to say that I hope all my buddies get ont he next flying load if I do happen to die doing one of the things I love...skydiving...which is kinda what I think this lass was trying to say...and maybe one should look at relaxing a bit, getting a massage, maybe a happy ending or perhaps building a sauna in your house??? Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. My reserve is actually smaller than my main...but I did take the time to go and demo it first... in fact I am going to demo it again this weekend Edited to say that the main is a 129 Crossfire2 and the reserve is a PD 126R Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. well as far as student jumps I did about 3 a day at the ranch, but once I was on to solos I did 7 in one day to finish my license, but that was not at AZ... good luck in your quest! Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. Shot by the originator of this thread day before halloween on my Xfire2 129... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. Whatsa matter you not happy with the future of the web being fun and interesting? or can you not install flash cause you are too lazy.... Cheers Dave Edited to say that although I like flash I feel as though there can be a more pressing need for flash that 3 images and a bit of text...get some video man!!! http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. Beating a dead horse... beating a dead horse... okay here is the deal put a few more jumps on the 190 then see if the rental place has a 170... most likely they will be able to tell you when you are ready for it... jump that for a while.... then think about your own gear.... otherwise, you will wind up like me...paying out the ass for an upsizing rig due to inexperience injuring yourself Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. thats what I found even dropping from a Sabre2 210 to a Sabre 2 190 much more flare power...now add in the triathalon transition and voila, much much more flare power.... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. Me too, although I moved down one size to the 150 Sabre2 for about 100 jumps after that and then downsized to the Crossfire2 129 instead of the 139... And yes people thought that was aggressive, but what they didnt see was.... at least 20 high pulls (13500ish) love those high pulls with my buddy matt, a lot of fun this summer and really taught us canopy control flying around each other in the sky having fun. and as a result you learn the full range of your canopy...(plus tandem hunting is fun) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  15. sweet I will have to try that if I get to jump this weekend cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. I was going to be there, but my girlfriend had a siesure about the fact that I was driving down to NC with a chick skydiver...so instead I will be jumping in snow...fucking snow... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. so I noticed this last weekend that the order for my turns since I moed up to normal (21") risers from 18" risers is: braked approach reach up for loops harness ease in risers for turn ease out and finish with harness surf surf surf surf surf the issues I was having with riser pressure was due to the fact that if I started the turn with risers, I lost my range/ability to use harness due to lifting away from leg straps in a huge way... so to all those that were talking abotu hard crossfire riser pressure...try that on for size (try it high first, thats how I figured it out) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. looks like outside of the russian ranch contingency there will be a few more of us... well at least who ever can fit in my mini, I have one more slot available for the ride down from NY... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. from march through now I averaged 35 jumps a month including a month off in september for rain ;) There was weekends where I did 25 jumps in a weekend and weekends I did 3... It all really depends on how much you want to dedicate to the sport... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  20. and hopefully one who will teach you to smile and enjoy yourself while doing it ;) being serious and stressing will tighten up your body and make you fly a bit less smoothly...thanks drew for that lesson over the last few weeks :) Skol! Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  21. I am in, if not just to learn something :) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  22. Now you're breaking another rule that states, "Post to the correct forum and stay on topic." You didn't read them, did you? Please tell me what this has to do with Matter suits. I think that maybe that was a vague gay reference with out being direct about it.... back to matter suits... I know nothing about the new one, hear interesting things about it, what I do have to say is this, every matter suit that I have seen looks top notch in every aspect, and 9 weeks is less than what I waited for my last merlin suit ;) I might jsut have to hit up the matter line next :-P Cheers dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. Hey Brian, I got a smaller canopy and it made my dick bigger... But seriously...great interview...I always walk away with something new to work on when I hear you talk... Are you offering the advanced course anytime soon somewhere in the US? Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. 1.6ish xfire2 129 http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  25. I would say not a good idea talk to you local experienced canopy pilots who know you and know your abilities and listen and dont just listen to what you want to hear, doing that will get you hurt, jsut ask me. personally not talking about your size choices but theory, I would go for similar sized main and reserve, because what happens if you have two out and one is much smaller than the other, it can be baaaaaad. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
