  1. Well then give me a call next Wednesday and I'll hook you up with some instruction! The Dutchboy needs some students so he can eat, and perhaps even skydive again someday. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  2. I've got one. I've been very happy with it. Only minor problem I had was a seam that blew out at Quincy this year which I got fixed for $5. I haven't seen anyone else in Atlanta with one, so I get lots of questions about mine. I like the external pocket that I can use for dropping my gloves and altimeter into when I'm down on the ground. 3. Cool, glad to see that Nemesis got 3rd. Not bad for a weekend team. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  4. Anybody no what the results of the NSL championships were last weekend? Are these posted somewhere? They aren't on NSL's page yet. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  5. Canopies are classified as aircraft, and therefore have the same right of way rules. The low man has the right of way, or if at the same altitude the guy to the right. Both of those sound like you. Just remember that it takes two to collide and one to avoid. It is better to be alive than dead, but in the right. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  6. Wow, you are really planning ahead on this one, unlike the trip to Quincy this year.
  7. Who says you can only go to one? As jumpervali said, they have an awesome Porter on the weekends. You might hit the Southern DZ on Friday and get a couple jumps in their Otter, and then head up to the Northern one Friday night. You'll probably see allot more going on at Air Sportz on a Friday night. They have some guys who are awesome cooks out there, and they normally cook Friday nights. 8. Like Clay said, the hotels around Skydive Atlanta are pretty cheap, especially if you tell them you are from the DZ. I think the place in Barnesville charging either $35 or $40/night. If you are shooting back up I-75 you might stop at Atlanta Air Sportz in Rome, GA, http://www.airsportz.com They are just 15 minutes off the interstate. They've been jumping a Porter on the weekends lately. There are cheap hotels nearby and loads of camping at the DZ. They're both good DZ's, but with different atmospheres. 9. Oh, that door. That assumes that you have the cargo door which the Cherokee six might have, but I've never seen it on the more common (and smaller) 140 or 160. No way you would want to try and open the cabin door though. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra

PISA recommends a PRO pack, which is what I do. I don't roll the nose, just tuck it in as recommended. I do make sure that the slider is quartered and that the nose is covered by the slider though. My opennings have been fine. I've also pyscho packed my Hornet. It openned too slowly for my taste when I did this, so I went back to PRO. I don't know if this matters, but I tri-fold my chute before s-folding and bagging it, instead of just mashing everything in to make the cigar. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  11. I wouldn't attempt it. For one, the Piper Cherokee is not approved for flight without a door. Openning the door in flight on this plane will seriously disrupt the airflow over the wing. The Piper Cherokee series might be great planes to fly, but they are not suited for jumping. The only safe way to jump from one of these is to jump from a Cessna instead. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  12. There appears to be a DZ between Hunstville and Birmingham http://www.skydivealabama.com that you might also check into. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  13. You might talk to the guys at Atlanta Air Sportz in Rome, GA. They are fairly close, and have several experienced riggers there. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  14. I did have to work. I had to fly the jump plane for the night jumps that night. They had another pilot who was flying during the day. I wasn't supposed to be at the DZ till late afternoon, but my flight lesson got cancelled when the CFI got stuck on another checkride he was doing. That's how I got there early enough to jump with Faye when she was injured. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  15. We had a little mishap at the DZ yesterday. At the end of a kick-butt 4-way sitfly jump, Broken Eagle landed on some pavement and broke her good ankle. For the record, this was much less serious than shattering her other ankle into 16 pieces while roller skating several years back. On the last night load of the day (this morning actually) someone had a cutaway of a black canopy. Don't know if they found it this morning or not. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  16. This is a cool website! The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  17. I may be wrong, but I think that Atlanta Air Sportz in Rome, GA is fairly close to Birmingham. It is is Northwest Georgia about midway between Atlanta and Chattanooga up I-75. Good bunch of people too. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  18. and whats a Kennesaw- A grand and wonderful little town that requires all home owners to have a Concealed Carry Permit to live within the city limits! My kinda folks! Careful now. Tell the truth. If you live there you are required to have a firearm and be trained in its use. You are NOT required to have a concealed carry permit, just to own a firearm. BTW, I'm officially not going to be able to make it for the boogie this weekend. I'm booked solid all weekend. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  19. Yeah, she snubbed us up in Georgia too! The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  20. This is only part of the story. You still aren't allowed to fly like before. You can't just fly underneath class B or even just fly through or above it VFR. I just finished a long flight mostly around the Atlanta ECB. I flew IFR there and VFR back. The VFR part was a pain, but I didn't feel like messing with another IFR flight plan after having to go somewhere else when my destination had no fuel. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  21. Actually they got 3rd place this year. They got 2nd last year. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  22. If you can rent or demo a Hornet 150 I might try that for a few jumps and see how you like it, then try to do the same with the 135 if you feel comfortable. I've been flying my Hornet 190 loaded at about 1.2 since my 14th jump (125 jumps on it now I guess) and still liking it. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  23. Wow, I'm familar with this plane. It is even smaller than a Cessna 150. Not a very threatening vehicle! The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  24. Ouch! That really sucks, Kel. I hope you heal up soon. I had a really bad landing once. I had a muscle spasm in my left arm as I was coming in to land. It surprised me and I just sort of froze. I landed in a considerable turn. The pain was intense, but I was fortunate not to break anything. Heal up little frog, and use this opportunity to do something else with the time you'll now have. The Dutchboy http://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
  25. What sort of ghetto country club have you been going to? There facilities are nice, but I haven't seen too many country clubs with tents and run down traillers/rv's parked out back. I have seen nicer facilities (such as Perris Valley). Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad place. If you go there definitely say hello to Sunshine and Tall Guy.
