actualy I was talking to terry(Aerotech) the other day and he made me feel even better about choosing javelin over Mirage. What I am talking about in regards to the deployment problem has to do with one of the closing flaps that acts as the kicker for the reserve P/C is or was too small. Terry is not sure if they fixed it or not. He went to pop a reserve to do a repack, when he pulled it instead of shooting across the loft(like it should) it just kinda of punched up and fell over as it caught on something. he noticed that the bottom 2 or so coils had migrated since the last repack and actualy caught underneath this flap. that is a problem. this would mean a very slow reserve deployment as the P/C might not grab as much air as quickly as if it shot off of the back. he also said this is most likley what killed a belgian jumper not to long ago. Mirages response to him was "there isn't enough of a chance and it hasn't been seen on enough to warrant a fix" AKA they dont want bad press. there was also a problem with a certain rigger over there that had attached the reserve risers where they exit stitched too low by and inch or two. the problem with this is then you will have more forward speed under reserve and if you are uncoscious that is not necesarily a good thing especialy if you cypress just went off and you are low...just passing on info I just learned from one hell of a good rigger.(thanks for sending me to him Mike) Marc Did somebody call a medic -

Quick question for you camera pro's. how many jumps is the average before skydivers start strapping helmets to there head? & is this number safe? should people be waiting longer to figure there stuff out considering the added dangers of a camera on your melon? Marc Did somebody call a medic

I had a bit of a slipup(or is that down) yesterday at work. we got called out for an MVA with injuries and possible fatalitie. I was at the scene on top of an ambulance looking for another victim, because the one they called us out for was WAY dead. (he flew out of his car and tried a superman impersonation) Well I was up there trying to get a better view point as to where this guy went. (he ended up about 70 feet away and about 40 feet up into a tree, this guy also thought he was from Krypton) we had dogs and all sorts of other people out there looking. we finaly find him in said tree. he was bad off but here I come to save the day. As I am trying to get down off the top(they have a ladder up there) I slipped on the top rung as I was turning around. Next thing I know I have a bunch of flashlights in my face and everybody is saying "what do we do now"....not good when I was ONLY flight medic on scene.(our little jet ranger only has enough room for me, my patient, and the pilot) Well they end up sending Superman by ground and then I got a ride to the hospital too. first time in the meat wagon for me(as a patient) mean while I find out somebody got this on tape too. the good thing is I am doing ok, I didn't hit my head(instinctual PLF?)and just have some serious bruising on my L shoulder(which hit first) L elbow(which hurts like a mofo), a nice black and sore hip too....and one hell of a bruised ego.... oh well life is short and who else can say they fell of an ambulance. by the way this is one of those monster ambulances that are like 10+ft tall. Ah the life of a flight medic....

You have two choices here. Eather you want to be a Skydiver badly enough or you do not. If you want it you will go to the DZ get on the frickin plane and then jump out. otherwise find another sport. as mike said earlier this sport isn't for everyone and I am sure I will get flamed for this BUT you need to get up there and quit letting your mind fuck with you like this. I know you can do it, you know you can do it, and everyone else here knows you can do it.....SO DO IT.....or quit. sorry it is so in your face but you need to make up your mind and figure out what it is you really want. email me and we can talk this out. come on man you know you want it....
