Mark, you have some intelligent plans there. Plans that will keep you in the range that your experience will probably dictate. No need to downsize too quickly. Let me clarify a couple points for a few folks. I wasnt quite truthfull when I said every jump. There are some that I dont hook. Tandems for sure, but when you make about 700 skydives a year under your sport main a few jumps here and there become less significant. So OK, not evrey jump and name a good reason for not doing a hook turn and I've used it. Remember, I have NEVER been hurt. Next, most of my jumps are video. I dont have to land with the rest of the load most times. I open high and sit in brakes till the landing is mine. Now to explain "out hook": I bet my landings look better, surf farther, and finish softer than most of you guys 99% of the time. I didnt mean I will OUT HOOK you by trying. I meant that I bet your landings arent near as good as mine and I jump a lightly loaded Sabre2. You might get the odd great surf while you're trying to figure it out but I get them all the time. I have my canopy figured out. The point I'm trying to make is that you guys try to get great landings by buying a different more highly loaded canopy instead of learning to fly the one you have right. When you can squeeze 100% of the performance out of the canopy you have 100% of the time, then think about downsizing. Dont wreck my day by keeping me out of the sky waiting for the helicopter to fly your sorry ass out to the hospital. Sorry for trolling here.

I have 9500 jumps and have NEVER been hurt skydiving. I hook turn every single jump. I jump a Sabre2 135 and weigh 155. I can out hook any one on this thread under 1000 jumps with whatever canopy you have.

I agree. Sabres must suck. Didnt they sell more Sabres than any other canopy? World must be full of stupid people. By the way. I have over 4000 jumps on 135's. Over a thousand on my 135 Sabre2. There isnt a canopy out there that hasnt hurt someone on opening.

Look at it this way. If your doin good you'll make a thousand jumps a year at 30-35 bucks a jump. Thats 35 grand a year at best. BUT.....you may spend less on skydiving because you get your fix working. Anyway everything you spend on skydiving now becomes a tax writeoff. Form a generic skydiving corp and write EVERYTHING REMOTELY RALATED to skydiving off. Rantoul, jumpsuits, jumps, gas to boogies, parachutes, video cameras, goggles...EVERYTHING! How much are you spending on that now? If your wife makes a decent living you will easily hold up your end. Be careful though, she will still see things like parachutes as toys but they will now be tools of your business. Hire your wife to pack. Keep the money in the family.

By Kennedy: And just an FYI for people here, IIRC most infantry don't carry fully automatic firearms. They carry whatever the latest version of the M-16 is, with the toggle going between safe, semi-auto, and three round burst. So when we talk about appropriateness to militias, full-auto shouldn't even enter the conversation. The military went to three round burst to make grunts conserve ammo. I believe they have seen the error of their ways and are switching back to safe, semi, auto. There were a number of problems with the three round burst mode and it took away the ability for suppressive fire. It basically didnt fix the problems it was supposed to and took away the best advantage. Three round burst is still automatic fire.

I have a compromise. Everyone against guns can declare their own "Gun Free Zone." in their house and post a sign to that effect on the door. Each and everyone of you. A BIG sign that say something like: "This is a gun free zone!! There are no guns in this home!!!!" Also, you must have a bumper sticker on your car and a badge on you coat that says you never carry a weapon. Then I will be willing to talk about reasonable restrictions on my gun ownership.
