What exactly is a burr? What would you look for when checking to see if one is forming? What causes it to form and what can you do to prevent it from forming? How common is this problem? Thanks.     Well, we kind of did start one (with the HOA). They cited some screwed up Florida law (mind you I live in CA NOT FL), where some dude erected a flag pole in front of his house (something like 50 feet tall) and the courts upheld the HOA's fines, etc. against the homeowner. Unfortunately, they have decided to screw with a litigation paralegal...and so off I am to protect my constitutional rights (in small claims court ).     DON'T DO IT!!!! Ok, I'm not a guy but from a girl's perspective (one who has long hair, cut it, and had to grow it back because I hated it short), at least spend the extra $$ to go to one of those salons where they will put your face on short hair to see if you REALLY like it. If you want to go cheaper, do it yourself. Cut a picture of a short hairstyle you want out of a magazine, cut your face out of a picture, and start pasting. Really, really, really think it over before you do it. That old line "it will always grow back" doesn't do crap for you when you are in tears looking at your beautiful locks of hair on the ground.     I think its only natural for the people we love to worry about us. Lets not beat around the bush, this IS a risky sport. I find that most of the problems with my hubby's worrying comes because he simply doesn't understand a lot about the sport. Very carefully (i.e. not condescending or teaching like), I explain different aspects of the sport and equipment to educate him as to the safety aspects of the sport. Its is happening slowly, but with his understanding comes less worry each time I go out. Just my thoughts. Good luck

    I definitely second that. I've already wasted a few pretty pennies on brand new helmets that I didn't try on before buying. Go to a good gear store before you pick which one you want, they do all fit very differently.     I'm new too and just buying my gear as well. As you have already learned, everyone favors different manufacturers and, eventually, so will we. However, you really have to get out there and try them out to see how it works for you...thus, I've been told that if you have the $$$ to demo canopies and then purchase, this can be one of the more $$ saving ways to do it (i.e. don't have to sell and buy canopies as much when downsizing). My only advice, being the newbie that I am, is that if you have a curvey small frame (as I do) Bev suits compliment (and accomodate) us well . Blue skies, be safe and have fun!     I will be talking with my rigger on Saturday regarding all of this, but in your opinion (and anyone else who wants to chime in), would the old Triathlon version not be suggested as a very good fit for my container? FYI: I will be staying with this canopy for awhile. I also am looking at a Spectre 170. The Spectre has more jumps and is about $400 more than the Triathlon, but I have heard really good things about the Spectre's performance over the Triathlon.     Bill, since Aerodyne Systems has been building the "new and improved" Triathlon they are packing just a bit smaller. They are now being manufactured out of the Soar Coat type ZP from Dupont, rather than the heavier Galvanor. A bitch to pack but a savings of anywhere between 8% to 15% on the volume (IMO).     Newbie Question Ahead: I have a Vector 344. I've been trying and trying to get through to Relative Workshop but I believe they have been busy with bigger problems. Will a Triathlon 175 fit into this container? FYI: I have a MR150 in it. The jumper who had it last said she had a Triathlon 170 in it but after looking more closely, I can't find that there is a Triathlon 170. Help "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

    My mom (who is just a little but on the crazy side) has a bug. Her license plate reads BUGABOO - told you she was crazy. Whats worse is that she has little daisy flowers and peace sign stickers all over the thing - not to mention a big pink daisy that sticks up right off the back antenna.
