San Diego To Dos: 1) That boat from "Master and Commander" is now in the harbor and available for viewing (I'm not really into that but some peeps are). 2) Birch Aquarium in La Jolla is pretty nice but size is much smaller than most big cities. 3) If you have a dog, we have to GREAT dog beaches here (a) Del Mar - which is my favorite, and (b) Ocean Beach - cool but a lot bigger. 4) Old Town: shopping, eating and little history (torture for most men). 5) Sea World (if you haven't already been there its pretty fun but if you have been there - its still the same). 6) Quail Botanical Gardens (pretty cool in Dec because they decorate for the holiday). 7) Julian: small town with a mountain like atmosphere. Fun to go up for the day and just hike around. Don't forget the world famous homemade apple pie though. 8) Coronado: cool to drive around and wish you lived there. Some GREAT restuarants (i.e. Peyoe's) and uppity shopping. Historical Hotel Del is there (said to be haunted ). 9) If you're step dad golfs, my hubby says Torrey Pines is WORLD CLASS. View is awesome, plenty of hiking trails down to Torrey Pines beach and park (which is REALLY cool). 10) Last but not least, TAKE THE COASTER DOWN!!! The ride is awesome and goes along the coast most of the way from San Juan Capistrano. If you lookin for good SD food, my absolute favorite is "Jakes" in Del Mar. Water view, reasonable prices, great atmosphere and selection and yummy!! Hope you have fun and find something to do.

Elsinore Peeps: Tell Me about ExCel Camp
flyinghonu replied to flyinghonu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm a fairly new jumper, with low jump numbers and very little coaching. I want to work on my basic RW and canopy skills. Would this be a good camp for working on such skills? I went to Elsinore's web-site but it doesn't show any upcoming events for the ExCel camp past Oct. Is there any camp planned for Nov.? How do I get signed up? Thanks -
I guess I should have provided a little more background. I do a cardio workout regularly (i.e. circuit training for 1-1.5 hrs.) on bike, stair climber, and outdoor or treadmill running. I do this about 4-5 days a week. I have been very cautious with lifting weights and toning exercises because I tend to build muscle very easily and quickly which is good for some people but not for me being that I'm 5'1". I want to start toning but I want to do it properly so as not to get bulky or injure myself. I don't need any assistance with a PFT (sorry for the previous wrong abbreviation) with my cardio workouts...JUST with toning and muscle strengthening. Given that scenario, do you PFTs think that meeting with him once a week for a month in the beginning and then twice a month from there on out is a decent amount of time to track my progress, etc.? Thanks again for all your input

That is exactly why I decided to start working out with the PT. Before, I was one of those people who watched other, read all the workout mags, etc. and thought I was do the exercises appropriately...couldn't understand why I wasn't sore the next day, etc., etc. This PT has helped with my body positioning during lifting, provided ideas on exercises I'd never known about for areas I am targeting, etc. Next day, I alway feel the "good" kind of sore....not painful, just a little rewarding and well enough to workout again. Thank you for your advice, it has ALL been very helpful. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

Got a new membership. Two free personal trainer sessions (obviously to sell me into having a PT on a permanant basis). Well, I really liked the workout, think I would benefit from more and would like to start having training sessions on a regular basis; however, I have two questions: (1) Do I tip him for the "free" sessions that I have (and do I tip him for the other sessions that I will have and pay for), AND (2) How can I get the message across (without being rude) that I really only want to meet about once every two weeks and not once or twice a week (i.e. is inappropriate to say I cannot afford to meet with you that often)? My doggie is going to be a jester! -
Prima donnas or not...those guys kick ass! I saw them once in Anapolis, MD where they did a show right over the bay by the Naval Academy. Also saw the Thunderbirds at Andrews Air Force Base. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

These crappy policies (and yes, it IS a crappy policy) are due to the thieving, clepto jackasses that steal crap from the retailers and try to return it, creating twice the loss for the retailer. Ross (my favorite cheap ass clothing store) has the same crappy policy due to these butt head thieves. Problem is, for those of us with legit returns, we have to basically turn over our first born child to prove the purchase....I HATE thieves!!!! "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

My husband and I are going to New Orleans tomorrow too! Hope the weather doesn't suck. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

Ok, I know I swore not to respond but again...the car accident thing. This entry has helped me understand...again, I must remind myself how hard it can be to articulate your thoughts on a forum and in writing. Back to enjoying your boobies ...that was joke. I was referring to grown women who have bought into this not children (and yes, I consider anyone under 17 children regardless of how attractive they may be). Yeah, that is exactly what I meant by my post....NOT! I was also referring to some of the comments made in the post not just the pictures. The comments made, is part of what contributes to the notion some women have that men are lying about not wanting the "eye candy" over the stimulating intellectual. Maybe for you but I'm pretty happy with what I have. Looking and admiring is one thing, desiring something other than what you have is a whole other game. Enlightening . Here ya' go http://www.perfect10.com/ I'll read your response and appreciate your point of view but I've truly had enough of this thread. Its like a freakin' car crash, I just can't stop watching it. I must be one of those lucky women who just doesn't give a damn what men think of me...I love me, my hubby loves me, and that works FOR me. Yeah, he looks but from what I can tell each night, he has what he desires Peace Out! "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

Would you trust a dental school student to work on your teeth?
flyinghonu replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
Happen to know where the UofM dental school is ranked nationally? In all seriousness, I feel your pain and have been in a similar situation. Have you gotten the yellow pages out and called any of the dental offices and shared your story of woe. You'd be surprised what some dentists will try to do for a cash paying patient - at least give you some kind of discount for paying cash up front and them not having to wait 3 months for a stingy insurance company to pay up. Who has the best $ for new AAD?
flyinghonu replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was recently looking for a Cypres and discovered that just about every place I looked (and I covered my bases) was pretty much asking for the same. However, I did see a site wherein when you bought an entire system, the Cypres was discounted a couple hundred dollars. I just ended going with an older used one...a new one was too rich for my blood "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix -
So, I'm wondering...I've been told that touching and rubbing the metal components of your rig can leave a residue on those components contributing to different types of detoriation (which may or may not affect the performance and funtion of those components). As a new jumper learning how to fully examine my gear, should I check for burrs by actually touching these components, by looking at the wear on the attachments, or should I go with the Q-tip method. As I'm writing this, I'm realizing its probably a little of all of those, yeah? "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

Maybe so but some group of people somewhere are buying into this sh*t and furthering the idea that we must have absolutely perfectly shaped double D breats atop our 21 inch waist that sits on our 5 feet long legs (which better not have any damn stubble on them too). I think women bought into this notion that this is what men REALLY want because those are the images we see in the magazines, on the internet, etc. And now it has resulted in an all out competition between women as to who is the hottest, sexiest, most desirable by men; hence, breast implants, butt implants, hair weaves, fake nails, liposuction, etc, etc. SCREW THAT! Personally, after reading and looking at everything on the "I love boobies" thread, its no damn wonder women think men are lying when they say that they want a REAL woman and these other women are just nice "eye candy." Where is the "I love REAL boobies" thread? Huh? "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

I live in San Diego where it is actually MORE dangerous to go the speed limit than not. I'm not kidding either. Flow of traffic is usually somewhere between 75-80 mph, if you are going under that, people are literally dodging you on the freeway. Lovely, eh? "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix

Lets turn it into a thread about how much we hate HOA organizations...I'm still bitter! "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
