  1. Hawaii Am sorry to hear your situation though - hang in there. I truly believe that it is sh** like this that makes us the cool (and strong) people that we are. Vibes to you. But also very serious on the Hawaii thing "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
  2. Unfortunately I don't think people realize what an ass they can be until its too late. I have the same type of situation w/ my biological father. Who by the way thought my wedding would be the proper place to bring up unresolved issues - nice, huh? In my situation, I've chosen to be the bigger person. I keep up the communication because I didn't chose him, he IS my father, and life is too short to sweat the stupid sh**! Even though he rarely reciprocates communication when I need it most, in the end I will never feel that our relationship problems were due to my own failure to try and work it out. 3. What kind of a JM would best be able to handle my fall rate? "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
  4. Okay, I'm getting ready to start my AFFs and I'm a little nervous about being in freefall alone. My question is does size matter? I'm a fairly small female (5'1" w/ a proportional weight ) and was wondering if any experienced instructors noticed problems w/ stabilization/control and/or heading control w/ the smaller individuals they have taught. Another question for instructors, (just out of curiosity

  6. Hey yeah...I need to know too! Is there an industry favorite
  7. I want to get my husband to go for a tandem (he is a little nervous about the whole thing). Problem is my husband is a fairly large guy (6'3" & 240 lbs). Our DZ (San Diego) and most others limit tandems to 230 lbs max. Do any of you experienced jumpers know how I might be able to arrange a tandem for my husband in light of his size - or does he need to hit the treadmill? 8. Wow! I left my desk for a couple hours - this is a much better way to spend your day than actually working I think Skymama's advice will work best w/ the hubby. I want to do another tandem so I can have one more jump for sheer pleasure before I get into my "student" mode I am most likely leaning toward the AFF versus the static line. Money is an issue in that we just bought a townhome and so.........my husband doesn't see skydiving as a priority right now - what the hell is wrong with him? I think after he hears me talk about second dive for another month, he'll give in. Thank you all for the advice and the wonderful welcome. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
  9. Hello everyone. My jumping experience is very limited (for now), I did 4 static lines at Hartwood in VA and I just did my first tandem at Skydive San Diego (which I loved). After the experience and the thrill of freefall ...I'm hooked. I just made a reservation for my second tandem. Any advice for someone who wants to get licensed but is fairly short on time? P.S. Also, any advice on how to convince your hubby that the $$$ are worth it? "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
