  1. hahaha thanks for that... I WANTED to shut it off.... a few times, early on... BUT could NOT!!!! " never underestimate the power of large groups of idiots,,,, when they dedicate themselves to a task...." jmy
  2. damn.... that's a lot of gear...to have in a vehicle.... which is being left in a hotel parking garage! was it visible through the windows??? How did the thief enter the car??? damn... ANYtime i ever stay ANYwhere, with gear in my vehicle.. I haul ALL of it into the room...even if it means piling it all up in a corner.. i'd rather trip over it at night than to find it GONE the next morning.. damn... was it in your trunk??? or back seat??? was it covered?? with some sorta nondescript towel or blanket???have you 'pissed off" anybody lately??? Utah??? huh??? never been there.. but that place seems to be weird and different.. first that E Smart situation, now this mom who's missing...not to mention polygamy...... but i hear the view is fantastic!!! sorry for your loss.... i hope the gear finds its' way back to you....
  3. wow... that's quite a list of movie credits.. i must say,,,, Most of them,, i never saw... Clueless, i saw,, and only seem to click on A Silverstone,,,, though after seeing a few news reports,,,, i know see that Miss Murphy was the "plain jane" character,,, who was befriended by the "in crowd"... never saw 8 Mile, but i think that was the movie with eminem.... always thought it was a sad, and dispairing movie ( though i COULD be wrong ) and NEVER "got" eminems' appeal...... so i never watched it... sorry. too bad for the Girl and her family 32 years of age is waaaay to young.... for ANYone to be taken.. r.i.p. jmy
  4. i think that when i was in college,,, i dated a girl named Virgina Snow... how's she doing..?? i hope she's happy.
  5. ... warn her about how certain "finely aged folks"... i. e. OLD people..... can be susceptible to heart attacks.....!!!! while shoveling snow... Works for me.!!!!! jmy
  6. carrying forward the numbers... ...................................cutaways..........reserve rides balance forward ...................44...........57 TaylorC....6......7 brucet7.......1...1 format........2...3 outski....0.....1 piisfish......2....4 timmyfitz....9....9 totals.. so far....64 cutaways and 82 reserve rides. give or take ( for bad arithmetic, or poor data interpretation...) i notice that cutaways are well above 50 and reserve rides are well under 100... .. might have to post this in the trivia and history forum... to get allll the "straight to reserve" scenarios, lost handles, and low pulls, which would have resulted in a reserve pull, but no chop..., in order to get to a 50 to 100 ratio... could be current gear,, the last 25 years or so, has streamlined procedures, and lessened "pull problems" , near the ends of our skydives. and most mals, now , at least have the main, being deployed, only not completely,, hence the cutaway numbers catch up. carry on.
  7. I read that cat has nine lives What kind of animal are you??? no no no. the 44 / 57 numbers represent the SUM of all who replied.... not just mine...
  8. something silly. which i found in a childs book of poems.... A Flea and a Fly in a Flue Were imprisoned, so what could they do ? Said the Fly, " Let's Flee"! Said the Flea, " Let's Fly " ! So they Flew through a Flaw in the Flue..... jmy
  9. 44 cutaways 57 reserve rides.... hmm... only 13 reserve rides, without a previous cutaway.. such as totals, p.c.i.tows, loss of altitude awareness resulting in reserve pull, AAD firings, unintentional reserve deployments,( such as ; on exit, or during a skydive ) please carry these numbers along, adding to them,,,, your details. thanks 44 / 57 jt
  10. prompted by vertiflys' thread...... Every cutaway should usually be followed by a reserve ride.....sometimes due to a ripcord pull, sometimes due to an RSL, sometimes due to an AAD... But not every reserve ride , is preceeded by a cutaway.......... right??? So.!!?? how many cutaways???? as compared to how many reserve rides...??? could be an interesting set of statistics... i'll begin... 3176 jumps, 2 cutaways But, a total of 6 reserve rides. others??? please carry the 'cutaway' and 'reserve rides' numbers forward... i'm thinking that there could be as few as 50 cutaways,,,, to every 100 reserve activations... let's see. .... 2 ... and 6....... jt
  11. 3,176 jumps. 2 cutaways 17,514 + 3,176 = 20,690 total jumps.. 12 + 2 is 14 total cutaways less than 10 replies , so far 20,690 and 14 14 into 20,690 is 1,477 and change jmy a 3914 nscr 1817
  12. good deal John... i'm 4 years post surgery, same shoulder.... the pain is gone.... but the repair was not 'as effective' as we ( the doctor and i ) had expected.... and my reach has been limited....( though i CAN get to my slider and my toggles..) So I DO hope that your results will be better.... stay in the sling, as directed, and adhere to the PT regimen, which should begin soon....even if it's slow going,,,,at first...and it hurts..... I was warned that staying Completely immobilized, while tempting, will not bode well for the recovery. no pain no gain. Pt ( stretches, sideward flexes, pulleys etc ) 3 to 5 times a day. and IN the sling...otherwise... as time goes by, you'll develop the best position(s) for sleeping and each day will get better.... enjoy the holidays. jmy
  13. "they come at a decent second hand price...." ever wonder WHY??? low price can sometimes = low demand.... i.e. there are better choices out there... go slower.....(in downsize progression ) ... go further...go longer... NOT in your swoop... but in your skydiving career... jt A 3914 nscr 1817
  14. while it's a 'construction site' be sure to duct tape across the flange so as to seal out any sewer gas, which otherwise could escape...into the house... now that the trap is gone... j
  15. no big deal... if you knew Her.. you'd see that i'm just reciprocating for all the nice things Nancy does for me.... jmy
  16. ???? just one thing... the eternally ELUSIVE.... Peace On Earth... but i'm not holding my breath,,,, that i'll ( we'll ) get it. jimmy
  17. generally speaking... NO .. just common courtesy. Though I WILL reach into the front pocket , where she keeps her car keys, in order to go out in the freezing cold morning, to start ther car for Her, and warm it up... This way, it's already toasty when she gets in.. BUT i do that by Feel..... and always while looking away.. hahaha otherwise, if she asks,,, i'll hand it to her, so that she can Hunt through it ....
  18. billy.... First thing...... go out and rent a BOBCAT...
  19. FLAWED LOGIC again. The FLAW in that argument is that a "D" license is NOT required to manifest for a sunset load. of course a D isn't needed to manifest for the sunset load... and my point has NOTHING to do... with making night jumps , in order to qualify for a D Lic... hell i had made a dozen night jumps, fully 10 YEARS before sending in, for my D.... and never thought of them as any sort of requirment... when i got the Expert License,, i was pleased that i already had met that criteria,,,,, you wanna be an 'advanced' lic. holder??? get your C you wanna be an 'expert' license holder get your D ,,,, AND meet all the requirements... ... either way... it matters not to me... was simply pointing out the good common sense aspect, of 'familiarizing oneself with something new and unusual' .. BEFORE it's necessary, to safely complete a specific type ( well after sunset) of jump. it was as a reply to Daniels' question\ is THAT idea ,,,, not logical???
  20. did they bill you for the $1.70 ?? or for the $153.00??? if they billed you for the Buck and 3 quarters BUT then sent you 100 yards..... YOu would be ethically obliged to return the spool.... True enough,,, you couldn't do your job until the issue was fixed... But what if they had taken a couple of days to FILL the order??/.. You STILL would have been delayed in getting the work done.... Molehill + your OP = Mountain... i have things shipped here, alot and when I get an email notification, including the pro # and a description....well THAT comes from Fed EX ,, or from UPS... and not necessarily with the 'return address' of the company with whom i'm dealing.... maybe you shoullda cut off 3 yards!!!,, asked them to bill ya' for another 3 and a half bucks... then you wouldn't have to deal with them again,,, when you'll need a small piece of type VIII webbing, the next time... a minor issue... certainly not worth blasting your source for 'supplies',, here in cyberspace...... jt
  21. not certain,,why.... though i DO think Night jumps should be relished, and Not discouraged..... I have totally ENJOYED each of the 26 night jumps which i've made over the years... it is SO surreal.. something about skydiving, in the dark,, which is pretty cool , to me at least... One GOOD reason to encourage everyone to experience a night jump. would be ... ... those late day "sunset" jumps,, where it takes a bit longer to board, or the 'hot-fuel' took a while,,, or ATC holds up the jumprun for a few minutes,, OR clouds slid in about the time the the Sun settled well below the horizen,,, and NOW.. here is a full load, getting out,,,, and suddenly finding that it's no longer daytime out there.... In that scenario it's very helpful to have made a few night jumps,,,, so that one's confidence level is good, and so that jumpers in that situation of low light,,, can maintain their composure, in order to perform a safe landing... landing after sunset, can be trying,,, unless one has already experienced it... otherwise.. could be best to bite the bullet,,,( loss of a lift ticket ) and ride the plane down.... jt
  22. i could never figure out... why someone who is Famous, Attractive, RICH, and talented EVER needs to get MArried..!! What sounds better to you??? " famous , rich, world reknowned Bachelor"??? or Famous rich world reknowed Family Man...? The "happy home, 2.5 children, 2 cars in the garage lifestyle...CAN work for the working Joes, of the country,, BUT a guy, who is IN Demand, travels allll over the world , PLAYING,,,,, is the focus of just about EVERY camera lens, ( AND Gold digger) within miles,,,,, and can have his EVERY wish....... certainly "limits his options" once he ties the Knot... and unless he spells out his 'ways and procedures' Well BEFORE getting married..... he should know , that he's gonna be answering to the woman, AND will be having his "social agenda" severely limited .... by 'settling down'..... i wonder what Earl Woods might think of these recent developments... ... and it's not just Tiger.... these sort of tawdry incidents seem to go hand in hand with wealth and success... look at the "histories" of Professional athletes, musicians, movie and TV Stars..... Type A personalities, most of them,,, Always on the lookout,, for "something exciting"... or something new & different... I guess fame and wealth does not always bring with it,,,,, common sense and good judgement... jmy
