i've seen worse...... one thing is for SURE... that cameraperson MUST be spending a LOT of time deleting pictures, from the still camera..... if the pace of shutter firings, shown after landing, is any indication... there must have been a hundred pics. taken,,, during the skydive.. jmy

Non-interventionism. Two very different things. No. The "stick" tends to have lots of enemies. I'd rather it not be us. How about we fix stuff here before trying to fix stuff halfway around the world? re: stick... " speak softly but carry a big stick"... was that FDR?? anyway i used to think ,back when all this began that our Govt. had identified a global "hornets nest". I mean it smacked us right in the Face in NYC....But Running over There and Hitting IT with a stick.. was the altogether wrong thing to do.. imho that got a lot of the colony 'excited'...and here we are almost 10 years later... To suggest that 'someone' has to Take a Stance and Take Action,,, when whatever happens, is Not to OUR ?? Liking is off base... The fact is... if that stuff is happening in some other country, it's none of our G D business.... [/:|] at least not to the point of ANY involvement...and certainly not military action... They are foreign countres...They can basically do whatever the hell they Want, if you want to be technical about it... We need to stay tuned in to what occurs in the world. but we should limit our influence in every damn thing.... Sure.. monitor dangerous situations, create DEFENSES, use Special Forces and insertion teams to accomplish critical target objectives...against this declared enemy... But Try to do it without Tens of Thousands of Our young men and women,,,, who become targets themselves, having to drive and walk all around in a hostile ( and explosives happy ) place... Why not prepare the 'home turf" if you will...to foil future attacks... keep troops in OUR country, Really crack down on people entering and exiting the country.. make friends not enemies.. I like the idea of fixing things Here... Ron Paul could be the voice of common sense that was lacking in the white house from 2000 til 2008. Instead, thanks to ambition, foolishness, vengeance, a militaristic V.P. a maleable president, a sons wish to vindicate himself in the eyes of his father. things went astray.. Iraq and S Hussein created a Huge distraction from the intended targets of Al-Queda and the Taliban,,, who mostly just "happened to BE in Afghanistan.... Now that we have chased them into Pakistan.. let's DO get the hell out of there... I'll be listening more, to what Ron Paul has to say. i was listening to him before the LAST election,, apparently not enough Other people , were doing the same. jmy

. . . . well IF there are NO rules..........then just 4 line it.... flake it, christmas tree it, s - fold the hem into the deployment strap or locking stow... stow the lines with whatever rubber bands are present, and then s-fold the whole thing into the container. If it needs a kicker plate, use one,,,, compress the pilot chute,,,,mate up the cones and grommets,,,and close it up with the pins that are on the cable... stow the handle ,,,, and If it has bungees!!!!!!!!! HOOK 'em UP !!!!! jmy

How many sex partners have you had in your life?
jimmytavino replied to normiss's topic in The Bonfire
i've been reading here a bit and had not replied, since my answer would reach to slightly more than 10......100 category!!!!... which makes me feel .... well sorta like a gigilo!!!!.... hahahah. In fact.. each partner was an important, and in most cases significant woman, in my life... (well save for the one or two.. silly "yields to passion"...). I was able to enjoy some nice relationships with some wonderful ladies.... and also explored a small handful of "applicants" . for the position.... All , ,,, were during my bachelor days...and sadly,, some of the time, They dumped Me... Go figure!!!??? Nowadays???? Just One... is on the "partner list" ,, and for the past 28 and a half years...... that has worked... just FINE!!!.. For Us.!! Now SOME folks might just be Athletes,,, or 'sexual enthusiasts'...or wonderfully adventuous... hahaha.. and like Wilt the Stilt.... consider that to be standard procedure, and variety HAS been said to be the spice of life... -
Stewart Airport, Newburgh NY.. closer to NYC than elmira .. about 60 miles north of NYC and just west of the Hudson River... maybe 10 or 12 miles north of WEST POINT... i think Jet Blue flies out of there, have fun jt

3 distinct video squences.... Nothing to say that the jumper(s) in freefall and the jumper under canopy.. are the same.... for sure they all 3 need MORE lessons!!! If you decide that you'll LAND a ram air canopy ... that is hooked up backwards,,, either intentionally,,, or Not..... ONE important rule.... You have to FLARE it..... If it's something one would like to consider... ( for edumacational reasons.. ) Might be best to pick a day with a bit of breeze ,, and to make sure,, that you're going Upwind.... @ Landing..... Or rather,, that your canopy is going upwind,, even though you're facing downwind,,,,, and you better believe !!! THAT visual can mess you UP>>>>>watching where you came from,,, instead of where you're going!!!! ( That would be like riding in the Back seat of the old 9 passenger station wagon, where you faced backwards.....) though i bet most here.. NEVER heard of such things....!!! anyway... When someone tries it... i'll hope to have the video camera handy... let's be careful out there jmy jt

Re: " they do... over and over.. but people need to listen" ..... WHAT ????? it could be that i don't stick WITH the broadcast long, enough to learn things.......I still don't know if there are different point values, for the different rings.... Re: "Actually,,, they are sighting down the path of the stone,, to tell the sweepers what to do ".... Ahhhhh,!!! well THAT makes sense!!! thanks... i retract my comment about posin'....!!! i wonder if i can adapt That technique... to my next game of Bocce'.... jaytee

any reply is fine if it is said with a smile...

... prompted by shahs' post..... whenever i see a TV interview,,,, be it a news broadcast, or a sports interview, or anything of that sort.... when it is finished, the anchor person, or the interviewer or whatever, often says to the 'guest'... " thank You",, and 98 times out of 100 the guest replies,,, " thank you"!!!.... instead of saying "you're welcome"..... which seems to me,, to be the correct response.... hahahaha.. that's been bugging me for a while..... watch the news,, and you'll see what i mean... any comments??? jmy

well NOT 'sick of it" But... a bit confused about it.. seems to me to be "shuffleboard on ice",, and i guess there is some sort of strategy to it... But WHY don't the announcers EXPLAIN... the finer points?? TELL the viewer EXACTLY how the scoring is figured....... point out what constitutes a good shot, versus a bad shot... as for the sport itself???? any athlete who handles a 42 pound Stone,, with grace and finesse' is Ok in my book... as for the sweeping??/. pure science... the friction melts the ice, makes the stone slide further than it would,,otherwise.... the only things that Does make me Laugh!!??? is the way the slider "holds that position".. so long after the stone is released... hahah posers!!!! Like many of the Olympic sports,, some degree of explantion could go a LONG way towards making them more interesting...to the viewers jmy

What's this mal called ?

sure thing JM... i have always felt that the TM and the video ARE a team.....and accept my responsibility, as "an extra pair of eyes"...in order to monitor for such situations... I was pulling and throwing.... REAL hard... with my right hand, ( though not touching MY pc handle) and really rocking my left arm... with the index finger pointing,, multiple times...so that the TM did get it... the solo jumper had dropped his grip about the time the D bag came into view... and was looking at ME...( i had given some thought to the fact, that his dock might have dislodged an otherwise ALMOST popped cable.... but the video , regarding that theory was inconclusive ) The solo, ( may He R I P )( years later, due to illness) mentioned that he "knew what was goin' on", but he did nothing, so i'm not convinced he ever noticed... davelepka....valid point about eye to eye contact... all our our TM's stay well tuned in to the outside video people... accepting the camera persons cues to "lift the students' heads" or rotating for us when we put the sun at OUR backs... and the TMs usually check the spot, at some point during the dive, while the camera is immersed in getting the shot.. A " flipping of the bird" is our standard hand signal from the TM, that the spot is looong... so teamwork... welllll.. WORKS !!! this example is further evidence IMHO, of the value of outside camera,,, as compared to handcam,,,, and of 13,500 foot exits,, as compared to 10,500 feet... nickdg.... we're on the same page brother,,,as regards "improvements" in the sport, both of us having come up, through static line training... But it's tough to fight city hall and changes happen....so we do well to stay on our toes, to keep things standard,, i.e. NO "head down" tandems, no "multiple backloop" exits... sensible camera to tandem gripping and spinning, and reasonable and only qualified "extras", invited on such jumps... jt -

i WAS a video guy who found himself in that SAME situtation.... back about 9 years ago..... Decent exit.. normal drogue deployment,,,, a second TM, in freefall with the pair flew in and docked.. We were at about 10 grand... I was head on to the TM who was slightly 'head high', when i SAW the dark colored main D bag pop up over his shoulder and start dancing around... the 3rd jumper was facing me, and i don't think he noticed it.... The TM must not have felt anything, as the skydive was continuing along... I parked in front and slightly above,, and did a real obvious wave OFF.. then started going strong toward my main handle with my right hand while pointing aggressively to the TM with my left..... i was trying to say.."YOU need to PULL".. the d release handle.. By this time 3 or 4 line stows had undone and the bag was really bouncing around.. he "got" what i was saying and pulled around 8 grand... decent main opening, only with about 4 or 5 line twists,,, which DID clear...no need for a cutaway... uneventful landing... eventful video. not sure if he scraped the top of the door on exit,, dislodging the cable which held the container closed.. strong h/c system... At no time did i consider 'flying in to them' to 'assist', though things might have been different , had he NOT understood my signal to pull..... luckily the main stayed contained in the D bag, til AFTER the TM pulled...it was good that we had altitude on our side.. jmy A 3914 d 12122 4 stack 930 -
Re: "be glad i was wearing anything'!!!! so last year in Raeford, at skyfest... one morning , early.... i was sittin' out, on a bench outside the bar... having a cup of coffee,, as the plane starts spooling up ,,,and this guy goes hustling past,,, doin' up the cheststrap,,, barefoot, finishin' a smoke... wearing just a pair of old style,, "longjohns".... with the trap door backside!!! which was Open!!!,,, and flappin' in the breeze,,,,,.... and so between these legstraps.... 2 bare nekkid BUTT Cheeks were starin' at me!!!!!... gonzalesna at his finest... Not sure if he 'buttoned up' before sittin' in the plane.... But THAT sure started off MY day,, with a grin on my face.. "to each, his own"...... carry On!!! jt
