    I'm holding out the hope that dumbledore will pull a gandolf and return in the next book. Anybody think there's a chance for that? probably not, but you never know.

    The lyrics for the songs were taken right out of the book, if you want to look them up. The movie pretty much followed the book down to many direct quotes; that part about Willy Wonka's childhood, however, was nowhere in the book. I really enjoyed the movie, all said and done. The oompa loompa's dance numbers were hilarious.

    Some people just don't follow through with things they talk about. They may be like that in other aspects of life too, not just skydiving. I know that there's lots of things I'd like to do but when it comes down to it I know I'm not really willing to put in the money or work that is required. Its easy to talk about doing stuff . Something like a kick-ass 4-way team takes alot of work and money that alot of people just aren't able or willing to contribute.

    take it up, but if its bothering you, do a hop-n-pop from 5500.. that way you aren't worrying about it in freefall and you'll have a nice sub-terminal opening in case you packed a slammer. getting it in the bag is hard, but it'll get easier. don't worry too much about it looking pretty, just make sure the slider doesnt' slip down the lines in the process.

    as far as keeping altitude aware while you're watching your canopy open.. I always put my hands on my risers ready to fly my canopy as it opens in case it starts to go into line twists or wants to dive or someone is flying right at me all of a sudden and I need to make an avoidance turn. anyway, with my hands up there my altimeter is easy to see, and i can keep an eye on the other canopies around me at the same time. works pretty well for me, anyway.

    oh yeah, and i've talked to alot of people who have used student loans to pay for skydiving. Seems to be a pretty common practice.

    We have also had trouble starting a skydiving club here as a sports club, but as a social club we've had no problems. As a social club you can get the same funding for trips and events from the university that any fraternity or community service club can get. As for paying for skydiving as a college student, I have funded my last year and a half of jumping as a packer and now a coach. Instead of going out I drink beer and party at the dz, and I haven't been to a mall more than a few times since I started jumping. Pretty much everyone at a&m who jumps on any sort of regular basis is on staff at Skydive Aggieland. As a club, you can do fundraisers like any other club, including hitting up alumni and old school jumpers for donations. Our trip to collegiates this past year only cost the club about $1600 for 6 competitors - a 4-way team, some sport acc and style competitors. All we had to pay for as club memebers was gas and food. Maybe next year the club will be able to pay for that too.

    I taped it the last time it aired. Are you AggieDave's Morgan? If yes, then I could always send you a copy if you really wanted to see it. Then again I'm not so sure how OLN would feel about this. BASE jumping means many different things to many different jumpers. But this show does a good job of getting into Jeb's mind and explaining why he jumps. It's worth seeing for the people curious about BASE jumpers. yeah, that's me, but actually i'm not that interested in BASE jumping.

    According to him, he had a turn on landing because he could only use one hand (hurt the other arm on exit) and so it seems that he wanted to do something and pulled on the riser that he could. That's what I got from it anyway.

    Newsflash- there are no bars around here that dont get smoky after 9pm. Oh yeah, and pool halls . I'd rather not go to California or NY cause then i'd have to hang out with a bunch of fruits LOL There is always Applebees - they have a bar in them - and chile's and any of the chains - they don't let you smoke there ever.(AFAIK) yeah.. but.. but.. okay, I guess that's what I get for wanting to hang out with people who happen to be smokers. Guess I'll just start a whole new group of friends, no smokers allowed.

    [reply I think in Texas it also has some silly sports connotation, like go Longhorns, or whatever. Texas is weird. The longhorn signal is extended index finger and pinky. And t.u. is weird.

    [reply"Chico's Tacos" in ElPaso is the same way - Damn things are delicious after a nice tequila night in Juarez, but DAMN - come noon the next day - Click Click - BOOM! Maybe its the tequila.. I've heard it has that same effect!
