That’s the really tough one for Putin to spin. They shot down 5 or so helicopters, possibly another transport plane and one of these long range comms aircraft that the top heavy Russian tactical doctrine absolutely relies on. Putin has publicly paid tribute to the numerous ‘hero’ pilots and aircrew that were killed by these (from a Russian perspective) treasonous mutineers…. while letting them all go free. That’s surely going to be a bitter pill to swallow for many across Russian society, as well as those serving in the military and Ministry of Defence.

Yes indeed - that is a Democrat not changing the rules for Supreme Court confirmations. So when you have it there in black and white, why are you still lying about it?
-
That’s an outright lie. Republicans changed the rules for Supreme Court confirmations. Nothing the Democrats did made it possible, nothing they could have done would have stopped it. Another lie. The Democrats changed the rules for other nominees so they could get any confirmations. The Republicans had pledged, out loud in public, to block any and all Democrat nominees. To reframe that as simply working against radical nominees is transparent bullshit. By contrast, the Republicans by their own admission worked against the will of the American people to ram through the fastest nomination in history, of an ultra-radical Justice, so they could overturn settled law that the large majority of the American people did not want overturned. The fact that you have to be so dishonest in the way you talk about this subject clearly shows that you know how anti-democratic and frankly un-American the Republican’s actions have been here.
-
Simply not true. Republicans made it possible, and Republicans did it. Every single part of the process by which they stacked the Supreme Court against the will of the American people was driven by their own lust for power.
-
So why did he get promoted in the first place?
-
That's ironic. The topic here is you assuming that a black employee you didn't like was promoted because of affirmative action, but you think I'm reading between the lines? Look, I get that you're just lashing out because you're embarrassed - but you have to understand that everyone else can see the same things that I'm pointing out.
-
Thanks for demonstrating once again that Republicans are allergic to taking responsibility for anything they do. There’s always someone else to blame.
-
It’s funny that Bill’s example in the last thread a week or two back was that a company which almost exclusively hired alumni from one college had a superb black employee who graduated somewhere else - so clearly he was only there because of affirmative action. My takeaway from the same story was that the black guy was probably one of the only people in the whole company who was hired purely on merit. Everyone else had preferential treatment.
-
And why do you think this was because of affirmative action? Your own example acknowledges that there were other competent, well qualified black people in the organisation, so why is it because of AA that an unqualified black person gets promoted? Shit people of all races and genders get promoted for all kinds of reasons. The book “The Peter Principle” has been around for over 50 years now, and it wasn’t written about affirmative action.

Yes, I’m sure that’s how the racists are spinning it. Unfortunately it’s the opposite of true.
-
Doublethink is very popular these days, I see.
-
That’s a terrible example. Businesses chose to charge a lot of white guys less than everyone else, and then were made to offer the same savings to at least a couple of black guys.
-
Reality already differentiates by race. The job market already differentiates by race. Access to top level universities is not meritocratic and access to top level firms is not meritocratic, advantages for the previously advantaged are baked into the system. Policy making that simply says 'that's the way it is' is racist.
-
And the last time the topic came up you agreed that they are denied opportunities because of preferential treatment of those less qualified.
-
It’s ironic that their strategy around Hillary’s emails was the opposite - get in early, keep talking about it for as long as possible and let the sheer weight of innuendo and suspicion distort the entire national conversation. But the Dems just aren’t anywhere near as good at working the outrage machine.
-
My first thought was ‘who on the team hasn’t been paid this month?’ But actually it might be a deliberate tactic. The tape’s going to come out during trial anyway, so is it better for Trump if the most explosive and embarrassing stuff comes out now, with as much time as possible left before the election for it to lose its shock value?
-
Oh you silly goose. There’s no need to spin anything when you can simply pretend to be living in an alternate reality. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in statement that “the audio tape provides context proving, once again, that President Trump did nothing wrong at all.”

This is just incredible. Wagner taking over the major military HQ for the Ukraine invasion in Rostov. The bulk of Wagner’s forces racing north on the motorway to Moscow hoping to take the Kremlin before the Army can get organised. Videos out there of Russian Army helicopters blowing up their own fuel depots on the route, and of Wagner forces firing manpads at other Russian helicopters. The FSB raiding Wagner HQ in St Petersburg and taking $50M cash from their vault. Prygozhin is an evil son of a bitch, absolutely mental and I have no idea what he thinks his endgame is but damn he’s doing Zelensky the mother of all favours right now.
-
Incorrect. Regardless of the actions of a group of treasonous insurrectionists the southern states were still part of the USA. Maybe you should work on being less ignorant of the legalities of secession.

Hey Bill, so this just happened to Hunter; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65965473 Does that make sense to you? Is that what you were talking about? If not, please do say exactly who should be charged in connection with Hunter and his laptop, and with what crimes. I'd genuinely love to know.
-
True, it is only your business, but when you do give half an answer while refusing to give a full answer it makes it seem like you’re trying to make people infer something that isn’t true. Did you vote for the Republican Presidential candidate in the elections referenced above?
-
Hillary’s been covered many times. The FBI with a Republican Director under a Republican President who had pledged to send her to jail investigated for a very long time and found that nothing warranted criminal charges. Hunter’s laptop - who should be charged and with what crimes? Be specific. Biden’s files. Trump was not charged with anything that Biden also did. He wasn’t charged with anything that Pence also did. When Biden and Pence found they had taken some classified files, they gave them back immediately whereas Trump… fuck it, you don’t need me to tell you the difference. You already know what exactly what behaviour lead to Trump being charged, you’re just being obtuse. All I’ll say is “This is still secret. Look, look at this!”
-
Sure. And charging Trump is a big positive step in that direction, isn't it?
-
So.... um... they want to gather everyone who's left for another big parade? Sounds good to me.
