  1. You think you know me better than I know myself and you call that humble? Then why didn’t you cite that as the best reason for not believing? Your god hasn’t changed my heart.
  2. Sure, but if that happened then at that point I'd clearly see and therefore believe that it's all true, so a just outcome would obviously get me the same thing as you. I don't see the problem.
  3. Is that it? Are you telling us that the reason you believe in god is that you have read a book that says a few people, a very long time ago, allowed themselves to be killed because they believed they had witnessed a miracle? Like is that, for you, the whole deal? The only thing that swings the needle?
  4. If you go around saying you’re married to someone who you say exists based only on your feelings, people are going to think you’re pretty fucking weird.
  5. Yes it does. Jesus had supposedly done numerous obvious miracles already but one of his closest companions gave him up to be killed. Plus, you did say ‘any’.
  6. He discounts that it was obvious that Jesus was supernatural, so yeah.
  7. Whether people should believe in god unless god literally talks to them?
  8. When millions upon millions upon millions of people disagree with you about what the founder of christianity's truth was, it's only safe to say that we're talking about your truth now.
  9. Err, you don;t need evidence you need trust, but you find trust through evidence? We can most certainly prove that you or I exist and do things - because we exist and do things. What woud be?
  10. Jay: Nothing but the supernatural would be good enough for you! Ron: Only the supernatural is good enough! I mean... you're kinda saying the same thing, but why do I get the feeling you're disagreeing on what it means?
  11. But you're not, you're presenting your truth.
  12. This is again where you have no basis of reference for a conversation. It's like when Coreece used to say he was an atheist when he was angry at god. Well if he was angry at god he was never an atheist, they're two completely different things. And if you wanted to ignore your belief in god because you'd have to change the way you lived that's very different to genuinely not thinking there is a god. Further to that - you might have been a bad person doing bad things before you found god, but I don't think I am. I don't think I'd have to change anything in my life if I suddenly thought god was real. It's just that he's so obviously not. Now that's condescension. But ok, what evidence? You've never provided any whatsoever. Well yeah, that would be some evidence. There certainly isn't anything else lying around. BTW, don't you think it's odd that according to your book the people who actually knew Jesus needed supernatural acts of god to prove that Jesus was supernatural?
  13. Is it the same thing he promises to the greatest of caring, compassionate and charitable people who happen not to think he exists?
  14. So you're not saying what god said, but what you decided he said.
  15. Isn't that condescending to any of your fellow Christians who think god said something different? For instance, that he doesn't hate everyone, that being good is important and stuff like that?
  16. Yes, exactly. You’re saying god doesn’t give a shit if you do good things or not. You don’t need to keep restating that you believe in an amoral god. We get it already.
  17. Errr, no, doesn’t work that way. You can lie to a police officer or a judge the same way you’d lie to anyone else (for instance, ‘no Dave, I didn’t sleep with your wife’) and face no greater consequences whatsoever. Again - if they used their position and importance to legally punish you for this lie it would be malicious, corrupt and have nothing whatsoever to do with justice. The fact that you think otherwise is, quite frankly, horrific and speaks to a staggering lack of basic civics knowledge. If you know you can’t possibly understand it, why are you trying to explain it?
  18. If a judge sentenced a one time shoplifter to life in prison because he or she hated all criminals that would be the epitome of malice and corruption, and would have nothing whatsoever to do with justice. Hence, again, why the god you describe is utterly amoral and doesn’t give a shit about whether people do good things. So why do you keep insisting that your god doesn’t commend it?
  19. kinda tough to reconcile that with your opening gambit in this conversation which was "god hates you", and has since been fleshed out to "god hates you because of the way you were born."
  20. Right, you’re saying god doesn’t give a shit about whether you’ve tried to be a good person. I really don’t see why you ever denied it.
  21. So there are two atheists spending a life of sin and deviancy (or as I would say, being perfectly decent human beings) and they’re both going to be punished for eternity. Then god decides to change the nature and direct the conscience of one of those atheists. But if the other one still ends up being punished, he shouldn’t blame god for not bothering to help him out of a situation that wasn’t his fault in the first place?
