Six ways renewables increase your electricity bill
jakee replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Brent: Prove it! Bill: Proved it. Brent: Why are we talking about this? -
That was about Trump's Ukraine phone call. The don't be a sheep, think for yourself was 'chef's kiss'.
-
How many will do what you just did, declare that they’re damning before reading them at all?
-
Inflation now is also directly due to Covid, and the US under Biden is doing better at keeping it down than pretty much anywhere else in the first world. Doesn’t stop your sore butt from complaining about it constantly, pretending it’s Biden’s fault, then moaning that Biden isn’t a good candidate because of his economic performance. Again, you can’t complain that the Dems haven’t fielded a good enough candidate to beat Trump when it’s quite clear that you’ll lie about any candidate the Dems do field in order to beat them down. If you genuinely don’t want Trump to be President, prove it and start supporting Biden because he will be the candidate unless he dies before the election. While you keep distorting the facts or just flat out lying in favour of Trump and against Biden though, who do you think is going to believe you?
-
You haven’t read them yet but you already know they’re damning?

I've been catching up with Sex Education on Netflix. But ok, not that specific type of douche. Even better! It's a choice between a thing who's actual job is to clean up whatever you aim it at, and a giant shit sandwich. A truy apt analogy for Biden vs Trump.

We've just been through this again with Liz Truss popping her crazy head back up to say she was right all along about slashing top level taxes being the answer to all economic woes 'because of trickle down' and I wonder what world these people think we've been living in for the past 40 years of neo-liberal economics. In the UK, like the US, income inequality is the biggest it's ever been. Owners and shareholders are taking more profit from businesses than ever before. Executives are taking far bigger compensation packages than ever before. Big companies are bigger and more vaulable than ever before. There are more ultra rich people and they are richer than ever before. And what do we have in return? The NHS is creaking under the greatest strain in its history. School buildings across the country are literally falling apart and the Department of Education says there is zero new money available to sort it out. We can't afford the free University tuition or grants that the majority of our leaders enjoyed in the past, and now even the loans that replaced them aren't enough to let students pay rent, let alone anything else. We can't afford trains anymore. Buses are disappearing. We can't afford to run the Post Office. We can't afford for water companies not to dump shit in the rivers 24/7. We can't afford social care programmes, benefits or (supposedly) any refugees. Is that what trickle down is supposed to look like when it's working? Or if that's not trickle down yet - just how much more do the ultra rich need to accumulate before they'll start letting any of it go for trickle down to start?

This ought to be good.* Please explain? And again - the Republicans called three expert witnesses today and two of them explicitly stated that they had not seen any evidence that would support an impeachment. But you do. You think there's evidence proving Biden's corruption despite the Republican's own experts saying there isn't... and you complain that people don't like Biden enough! Well how about you take some responsibility and stop spreading lies about Biden? * By which I mean catastrophically nonsensical.
-
The literal, actual job of a douche is to clean out turds, so I fail to see how that's a decision that any normal person would need to spend more than half a second making. Which really does make it a good analogy for Biden vs Trump. So why do you keep lobbying for the turd?
-
So what does it matter what the Democrats do when what people just decide to remember something different? The unemployment rate in 2019 is the unemployment rate now. If that's not good enough, then what? The US economy is significantly outperforming comparable Eurozone economies and paractically every other first world country. If that's not good enough, then what? If you're worried that the Republicans can brainwash everyone into accepting another Trump presidency then stop being part of the problem. Stop pushing anti left propaganda. Fuck - at the same time as posting in this thread you're loudly pushing the most tenuous and unsupported accusations of corruption against Biden when you know that Trump ran the most corrupt, nepotistic White House in history but stayed silent. Stop blaming everyone else for your own failings and if you're worried about the prospect of Trump 2.0, do something about it yourself.

Right. Having money in a bank account is exactly the same as hiding gold bars under the floorboards. No reasonable person could possibly disagree.

Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers
jakee replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
Apparently one of the main reasons the official Mar A Lago valuation is so low compared to Trump's (apart from Trump being a fantasist) is that all of the binding and permanent property useage restrictions that Trump signed onto in order to reduce his tax bill would make it very difficult to honestly sell the place. Since he's ignoring those restrictions himself in many ways, including by living there, while continuing to take the tax break he probably feels he's entitled to ignore them when he sells it as well. His defence against fraud in the state of NY should be that he's actually defrauding the state of Florida. -
Oh look, there's that two-step again and we're back to this point. Yeah, Hunter gets to sell his name around the world. It sucks, but there's nothing Joe or anyone else can do about it. Trump, on the other hand, explicitly gave his family members official access to and massive influence over every aspect of the executive branch of the federal government, and they sold that for all they could get.
-
You know that houses don't get paid, right? Like, Joe Biden's residence doesn't have its own bank account - you do understand that?
-
Regardless of whether the address means anything - Hunter can do that. He can go around the world telling anyone who'll listen that he's Joe Biden's son and sooner or later someone's going to take a punt and see if he can deliver anything. Unfortunately there isn't a damn thing that anyone, even Joe Biden, can do about that. However, because the Bidens are not an organised criminal family, Hunter was not given access to or influence in the US government. Ivanka though, she didn't need to tell anyone she was Donald Trump's daughter - she was sat there right next to him representing the US government in international conferences. How much do you think was bought from her around the world?
-
They wired a check to his residence? How does that work, exactly?
-
You do realise that repeating that utter garbage is like shouting through a loud hailer that you're completely ignorant of the facts, right? Firing that prosecutor was a matter of official US and international policy because he was intentionally not investigating Burisma in exchange for lots of bribes. This has been confirmed by everyone who was involved at every level except for (naturally) the prosecutor himself. What are the chances they're all in on it?
-
Which is it? So Hunter as a private citizen who's never been anywhere near government business took money from a Chinese company, and that bothers you. You must be absolutely fucking outraged at the way Jared and Ivanka corruptly profited from the government positions they were gifted by Donald. When Donald said he'd run the government like a business he wasn't kidding - he ran it exactly like his own business that exists solely for the benefit of himself and his family.
-
Yeah, the context that you continually defend Putin's ongoing occupation of Ukraine despite being fully aware of the horrendous war crimes his forces commit as a matter of policy.
-
"She goes to a different school, you wouldn't know her" is I think what he's referencing.
-
Then vote Democrat.
-
Eh? Executive pay in the US is exceptionally high to a level that's even above other western neo-liberal economies - but with the exception of Elon Musk (the highest paid executive of all) it's a red herring? I'm genuinely not trying to be argumentative here - but I have absolutely no idea what you're saying. It's like you're trying to take a stand on every side of the issue all at once.
-
And what are the only organisations that provide working poor people with any power to effectively lobby for those laws and fields?
-
It's the absolute truth. You do support Putin's occupation. You have been asked many, many times to state that it would be a good thing for Russian forces to leave Ukraine, and every single time you have refused to do so. Often, you've then repeated the lies the Putin used to justify his current war of aggression. It is an indisputable fact that you want Russia to maintain its occupation of Ukraine. You want Russia to be rewarded for starting this vicious and bloody war, and you support the rampant rape, torture, kidnapping and murder that Putin's forces perpetrate in the occupied regions.

If any of them actually saw it I'll eat my shorts. It'll be nothing but gossip, innuendo and 1+1 equals 20. Again. Literally the only real scandal in the Biden White House is that his dog keeps biting people (which is genuinely quite a bad thing and they really need to send him away) but I dont think the House committee is going to be very interested in that.
