Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers
jakee replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
Jerry, the Feds are going after Trump. The Mar a Lago classified documents case is a Federal case and he has been indicted by a Federal prosecutor on 40 Federal felony charges. He is a Federal criminal defendant, currently released on licence, with a trial date set in Federal court. The Jan 6th case is the same - he has been indicted on 4 Federal felony charges with a trial date set. If he breaks his gag order badly enough he could even be recalled to jail before the trial. -

Also, Trump’s main defence (in the Federal election case too) is ‘advice of counsel’. As in, he believed in good faith that lawyers were telling him to do things that were legal, so he did. So if Powell goes on the stand and is her wacko self - that still helps the prosecution. And Trump’s team will have a very fine line to walk to try and attack her testimony for being unbelievable, dishonest and crazy - because they’ve still gotta convince several juries that Trump did believe her and genuinely thought her knowledge of the law was better than any of the lawyers employed by the White House. -

Unbelievable. Well, hopefully she won’t be able to resist misbehaving with investigators and/or on the stand. -

I really hope she doesn’t get a particularly good deal. From what I can tell she was a real driving force on a lot of the most insane and corrosive conspiracy theories, as well has the hands on election machine tampering and breaking and entering parts of the whole thing. -
Yeah - every base except providing a source for any of those purported comments. Who is this ‘left’ who is saying these things? It ain’t the mainstream Democrat party. It sure as hell ain’t Joe Biden. It ain’t even AOC. So who is it?
-
Y'know, someone a little less insecure might have just apologised.

How long until his next speech blaming Democrats for not helping elect the most divisive hard right figure in the House?

The government and military of Gaza is Hamas. How are they going to be handed over? Who can do that without fighting them?

And who else do we know was an overt neo Nazi? The military commander of Wagner. The same Wagner that was named after Hitler’s favourite composer, for that reason. The same Wagner that Putin has stated is and always has been an organ of the Russian State. But sure. Ukrainian Nazis. Great reason to support Russia. I listened to an interview with a really excellent historian who studied the sociology-political aspects of war, and she said there’s a reason why Putin’s rhetoric plays so well in Russia that most of us don’t understand. Going all the way back to the late ‘40s Stalin scapegoated the Ukrainians, drew attention to their high profile SS brigades and used it as support and justification for Russia’s rigid control of the rest of the USSR’s territories. So the Russian populace has been conditioned for generations to view Ukraine as a haven for treasonous Quislings. But in reality the Russian homeland had more Nazi collaborators than Ukraine did - both in pure numbers and as a percentage of the population in occupied areas. Anyway - it seems like ATACAMS rockets are now in country and already being used to great effect. Two Russian helicopter bases in occupied territory were attacked with the destruction of numerous attack and transport helicopters and a major ammunition dump. Russian military bloggers are calling it the worst day for Russian aviation since the war began. Even worse than the mutiny!

Russian backed forces with Russian supplied weapons shot down MH17, just like the Russian Army keeps shooting down its own fighter jets.

The report noted that the congresswoman had met with a lawyer ahead of the gala to discuss potential ethics concerns and determined that she would pay for the services with personal funds, but a campaign staffer would be responsible for making the actual payments. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-met-gala-office-congressional-ethics-house-committee/ The above may or may not be true, but sometimes genuine mistakes are made. In other news, Sarah Huckabee used her Arkansas government credit card to pay $19000 (just under the mandatory oversight limit of $20,000) to her friend’s events company, just before they and a few other Trump campaign alumni went on a vacation to Paris. The invoice said it was for a lectern - even though there is no evidence her friend was in the lectern business, the invoice was for 2.5x more than that particular lectern should have cost, and no one could find any evidence or shipping documents to show that a lectern had been delivered. Then the state Republican Party wrote a check to reimburse the government for the cost, and the person delivering the check was specifically instructed to write ‘to be reimbursed’ on the original invoice and not to date it - falsely making it appear that was the plan all along. Then Sanders’ office released a photo of a lectern to show they really did buy one with the money - and the manufacturer said ‘hey that’s not one of ours, it’s a cheap knock off’. Anyway, long story short she flat out stole $20,000 of taxpayer money and May end up in federal prison. And for bonus points, her initial response to a journalist finding the dodgy payment was to attempt to change Arkansas Freedom of Information law so that no one would be able to catch her doing it again.

Don’t you mean interesting how people getting caught skyrocketed?

Well, North America /= the allies. Even in 1940 the Mk1 Spitfire had overall performance parity with the contemporary 109E, plus a significant tactical advantage in most BoB engagements. In 1941 the MkV had near parity with the 109F, though the new Fw190 was superior. But in 1942 the 109 was completely outclassed and the 190 matched and soon left behind by the MkIX, and at some levels the Typhoon. (The 109 was also, even by the standards of the 1000+hp taildragger era, very difficult to handle on the ground and suffered a high loss rate from simple takeoffs and landings - a problem which got worse as its aerial performance got better. It tends to be the last aeroplane that warbird pilots graduate to these days, especially the Spanish Buchons with an engine that goes the wrong way for the airframe design. Truly terrifying to think that teenagers with 100 hours or less were thrown into any of these things back in the day) At the very start of the war the FW 200 Condor was already a very modern long range 4 engine bomber, that was made in relatively small numbers for anti ship missions. They actually developed the first ever guided missile for it and sunk a number of ships. Possibly the initial major reason they didn’t make or develop more was based on strategy, not ability. Germany didn’t expect to need a mass of heavy bombers to conquer Europe. They’d planned on lightning advances and total victory before the enemy had a chance to react. Wholesale strategic bombardment wasn’t something they thought they would need. And it almost worked. But even when they were doing it in the blitz, the situation was different to us. They were bombing England from France, we were bombing Berlin from England.

You posted a video about Scalice winning the internal nomination and said ‘looks like the chaos is over’. If one thing had nothing to do with the other then you’ve broken forum rules by posting a video without commenting on it. You have quite an imagination!

You’re pushing Kennedy because you think he’ll steal votes from the Democrats who you hate. When you realise he’s actually far more popular with Right wingers like you, then you’ll dump him and go back to explicitly supporting Trump like the good little MAGA Republican that you are.
-
Spoken like a true Independant.
-
Right, you hate Biden, hate the Democrats and love Trump... but will vote for Kennedy. As long as there are a bunch more 'independents' like you around the left has absolutely nothing to worry about next Fall.

If they can already tie the defendants to some kind of collaboration with Alex Jones, they probably just want him on the stand to show the jury how fucking crazy it is to think anything involving Alex Jones could possibly be either official or legal. -
The successful Sevastopol attacks have dented the reputations of the Russian SAM systems - so they probably wanted to reassure the export market that they’re still dangerous.
-
Lol WTF? Dude - the fact that you immediately read that much into one single instance of someone using lowercase (you never typo?) is pretty much screaming insecurity. Never mind that if you claim that insulting someone by, um, failing to properly capitalise their name reveals insecurities, what the hell does calling people soy boys say about you? Man you are on fire today but so not in the way you think. But hey - what better way to prove us wrong and show how secure you are than by admitting you blatantly lied about the contents of your link? We all know you did, so why be afraid of saying so?
-
I thought this was psychology class. But ok - you’re saying you can’t be insecure because you have a basic grasp of English grammar? Ok, good luck with that. What does the need to lie about your sources because you’re worried your argument isn’t strong enough say about you?

From what I understand Cohen should now have a rock solid case for legal fees and sanctions against Trump. I really don’t buy into the rehabilitation of Mickey C (he was a willing criminal participant right up until it stopped benefiting him personally) but when it comes down to which scumbag to root for here there’s only one winner! -
Exactly like you spell Brent with a small case b?
-
But not with the permanent Russian occupation you so desire. They’ve already lost their base in Sevastopol, how long until they lose the Kerch bridge and all of Crimea?
-
Ahem - that Russian occupying forces in Ukraine can hold fair elections. I bet if you asked he’d say Zelensky took power through election fraud, y’know just because. But we all know what Russian elections in Ukraine look like because we’ve seen them. Poll workers going door to door accompanied by armed soldiers. Who are you going to vote for when a man with a Kalashnikov is in your house watching you do it?
