Sure. You have to, because otherwise you'd have to admit how stupid your hero is and that would crumble your worldview. By the way, why is it the MSM's fault that the White House didn't put a question mark at the end of a question in the official transcript? How can you be that desperate to find something to blame them for?

Hey look, you've decided "the left crew" was right all along. Yet another opportunity for you to make that post you suggested. "The words start with..."
  4. No-one can go back in time and stop the virus coming out of China. What Trump is doing now still matters, because it's still happening. Pressurising China to reform their markets may help safeguard against a repeat of this in future sure, but it doesn't help now.
  5. If he doesn't sort it out before Markharju sees the Islamic love spell post we'll never hear the end of it.
  6. If you think you're fighting a war within your own country, that makes you a traitor.
  7. You know what's really funny about that? You're trying to show how out crazy the left is by attributing to them a claim so wild and wacked out that it's beyond the bounds of sanity. But obviously, no-one on the left ever made that claim. Someone on the right did, though. Trump did. He really, actually said that because of him only 15 people were ill, and that the number was declining to 0. So hey, well done on demonstrating how clueless and insane your hero is, and how rational and reasonable the left are in comparison.
  8. Sure, yours is more aggressive. By the way, don't you think it's amusing that you are currently defending someone who specifically and explicitly stated that there are no churches in Edinburgh, that he had seen it himself, and that there should be outrage over that fact, and you are claiming that it could be a completely innocent mistake and it's wrong for anyone to judge - while in the other thread you are claiming that "Trump suggests 'injection' of disinfectant to beat coronavirus and 'clean' the lungs" must be an example of the media maliciously and falsely suggesting that Trump is telling people to self medicate with bleach and that the media is definitely doing it on purpose? I find that very funny!

When? I have not seen the post where you concede that the media did not say he instructed people to inject bleach. I have not seen a post from you that retracts that allegation, nor one in which, to quote you, "The words start with "I was wrong, you were right . . . "and they go from there . . ." It means damn near everything you've said in this thread. You've seemed intent on making it clear that you are unaware of the meaning of the word "truth". Why do you think the statements weren't very responsible when you claim that spending time and resources researching on whether bleach and UV light can cure people of viral infection is a good idea? Then, if you don't think the statements were responsible, why did you defend them to the hilt until Trump himself disowned them?
  10. Ah. So it would have been totally OK by you if I'd said "Hey Mark, your post is bullshit" instead? That would have been polite enough?

So what then, you think all the poison centres reporting massive influxes of calls about disinfectant are lying about it? You think all the doctors burying their heads in their hands and saying "great, there's a whole bunch of extra moron handling work we didn't need" don't have any experience and ability to predict how people respond to those kinds of suggestions? Besides which, the whole 'instruction' thing is simply a red herring that you and only you are hung up on. One that you have simply invented, and continue to lie about. It's absolutely irrelevant to the fact that the statements on their own and at face value are unforgiveably stupid and ignorant for anyone at that level of government, let alone one who has already spent months being briefed on and 'dealing with' this pandemic. Of course, you won't understand that either, because you think his suggestions were good ideas.
  12. It's not just the new stuff though - it's the old stuff all over again because once problems have been fixed for enough time they forget what used to happen. We just kinda think it was always like that. Why do we need all those onerous controls on how companies treat the water supply when I've got clean water anyway? No-one's painting my kids' toys with lead paint, so why do we need to keep looking over the shoulders of the toy manufacturers? Everything's fine, so what's the point of all the laws designed to make everything fine?
  13. Trump can't be defeated in a debate. Trump can't be debated in any conventional sense. The way he speaks is like a version of the Gish Gallop, with the added difficulty that its a random stream of consciousness half of which will have nothing but the most tangential connection to the subject he's supposed to be talking about. It's impossible to refute everything he says because you wouldn't even have enough time in your rebuttal to untangle everything he's just said. You can just ignore him, present your own points and simply say "and by the way you'll notice nothing my opponent just said was actually on point" but that will do nothing to dissuade the viewers who are susceptible to his populist babble in the first place.
  14. Well, I guess foreigners are just confused sometimes. Hey, remember those Russian spies who poisoned the Skripals with novichok? I'm pretty sure their excuse was that they were just visiting the world famous Salisbury mosque, right?
  15. Why do you agree that he should have worn a mask? And no, once again 'terrorist fist jab' and 'dijon mustard' was grasping at straws. This is a lack of awareness and lack of leadership from the two people in charge of your nation's response to the virus. We know that there are a lot of people who will take their cue from what Trump and Pence say and do, especially if it gives them an excuse not to do something they find inconvenient. What Pence is doing will result in fewer people wearing masks in general social situations and with at risk people. And guess what, if that means more people get infected, that could mean more time that lockdowns and distancing will be required, more time before businesses get back to some form of normality and that runs counter to everything that they want to achieve. All because they don't want to look silly on camera. He's never said so. But if he is then you know what, he should grow the fuck up and stay out of premises that have rules in place concerning the wearing of masks. I would say it's funny to see the right promoting the idea of 'one rule for the elites...' but it's not really anything new.
  16. How does this relate to whether Pence is setting a damaging precedent or not? (And bear in mind that you were replying to Wendy saying that Pence has the almost unique advantage of knowing that he was not contagious, not that he knew he was not at risk - so it was a non-sequitur anyay.)
  17. Right. What exactly do you think is the point you're making right now?

Turtle is hanging his hat on two things. 1) We, and the media, can only reply to the strictest possible literal reading of what Trump said, and make crystal clear in news headlines and our posts about it that we are not implying he meant anything beyond that strict reading. 2) He gets to interpret news headlines in the loosest possible sense, and infer that malicious falsehoods against Trump are being intended, even when the headline does not actually say it, and nothing else in the coverage or article supports the inference. Thus, he gets to bitch and whine that the media are falsely claiming that Trump instructed people to inject themselves with bleach because Trump did not say that, even though the media also did not say that. And he thinks he's being clever.
  19. I actually checked that. Google for churches in in Edinburgh, Indiana and it'll give a list as long as your arm. Do the same for mosques and it'll show you one in Columbus
  20. Most people say you're trolling. And yes, Pence not wearing a mask sets a precedent that other people will follow.
  21. Hyperbole is found in exaggerated statements, not ones that have no basis in truth whatsoever. Further, I don't think anyone believes that you would. You would only give a conservative the benefit of 'hyperbole'. If any liberals said it you would not only pour scorn on the individual, you would claim it as an example of the entire left wing being desperate for excuses to bash the right, and probably find a way to claim that they were being led around by the lying media to boot.
  22. There are no other options besides lying, hallucinating or being incredibly stupid. You only need to pretend there are because he's a conservative, and you absolutely must defend conservatives no matter what, even when you know they're in the wrong. Imagine for a moment he was a liberal alleging wrongdoing by the christian majority against Muslims, and claimed he'd visited Dearborn and had seen for himself that all the mosques had been replaced by churches. What would you be saying then?
  23. No, that is not an option. Someone who claims to have been there and seen it for themself is not simply mistaken. Edinburgh isn't a particularly big place, and St Mary's Cathedral alone can be seen from miles away. That's not hyperbole, it's built on a fucking great hill in the middle of town. Its Google description includes the words "towers over the city" in the first sentence. If you are suggesting that Mark may be so unbelievably stupid that he could visit Edinburgh in a lucid state of mind and come away genuinely believing that it contains no churches then I'm afraid you are being far more condescending than me.
