  1. The next ten paragraphs disagree with you. Funny how history says only one of those things was in the Constitution.
  2. Funny one that, isn't it? If Trump cut ties with Epstein as soon as he heard a rumour, then what was he informing on? It's quite an advantage that MAGA politicians have when they don't even need to care if their lies make sense from one sentence to the next.
  3. That is categorically untrue. Absolute nonsense. You think that flying an American flag on a boat makes you an American citizen? Or that only Americans are allowed to set foot on American registered boats? Like... WTF are you talking about?
  4. Anyone? How does that help, in practice? I mean, you haven’t ostracised the office itself, have you? So the office will still be filled. By a politician. Who is equally deserving of being ostracised. Because they’re a politician in office. Yay, I guess?
  5. So… it is like WMD in Iraq? Like, literally exactly like WMD in Iraq? The government claims it’s there so you definitely have to immediately go in and anyone who says otherwise is a sucker? And no - any given kilo of fentanyl from a smuggler has never, ever, not once killed 500,000 people. I mean - that’s definitely a thing you only say when you already know your argument is fucked, isn’t it?
  6. Is it separate? Bush coerced the Intelligence agencies into saying Iraq had WMD and further manipulated their reports to sound much more definite than they were before releasing them to the rest of the government. Similarly, we only have intelligence reports to say this boat was operated by the cartel and full of drugs. There was no boarding, no search, no confirmation of cargo, just a stand-off weapon fired and the boat destroyed. Sounds like a ton of overlap to me. Now keep in mind the only say so we have that the boat was full of drugs comes from the same administration that is on a personal crusade to paint Abrego Garcia as a gang-member human-trafficking terrorist and subject him to spending the rest of his life in a foreign hell-hole dungeon just so they won't have to admit to deporting him by mistake. Even though everyone already knows they did. So you think you'd hear a peep from them if it turned out this boat might not have been full of drugs? When I first read Kafka as a teenager I'll admit that I didn't really get it. The situations the protagonists were trapped in were so absurd, the bureaucratic oppression so pointless and unlike the purpose of real world western government that I wasn't sure what the message was supposed to be. Now? The dude was too freaking tame.
  7. So.... things that are against the law don't happen? Like, seriously bro? I don't think we need to know what you an Adam do to each other in private. Or maybe you meant paisano. So how come they like, y'know, are? Trump said, “How about George Washington high school? ‘We want the name removed from that high school.’ They don’t know why. You know, they thought he had slaves. Actually I think he probably didn’t.’” It..... does it? I think I got whiplash trying to follow that association. Astrology means you can't be racist? Anyway, you know slavery is so heinous that most racist people today would draw the line far short of supporting it? Now imagine how racist you'd have to be to go to war against your own paisanos for the sole cause of defending the enslavement of black people? Imagine how racist you'd have to be to display a flag that still to this day represents that cause?
  8. Why do you assume one white guy moving to a majority non-white neighbourhood is going to get hassled that badly? Do you think society as a whole is that blatantly racist? If so, do you also think people of colour in majority white spaces face the same hassle?
  9. To state the obvious, the USA (or almost any western democracy) is very big compared to the Athenian polis. Therefore, almost every politician is the direct representative of a small group of people from a small part of the country, which wasn’t the case in the very old days (among many other major differences). So how would modern ostracism work - sounds like a national vote, yeah? Would it be right to let a bunch of urban liberals across the country tell a county in Texas they can’t have their congressman anymore because he’s getting too popular? Or a bunch of Texas, Florida and Mississippi republicans tell a black district in LA they can’t have the candidate they want to vote for?
  10. If you seriously believe that there are arguments in favour of rape that are compelling, then apparently you really don't find rape as repellant as everyone else here does. Another good explanation of your vote for Trump, I guess. Along with the fact that he promised DEI hiring would be reserved for white people, which you’re all in favour of.
  11. No but seriously though.
  12. Yeah, they don’t do words good like you. Baptists are Protestants. You’re thanking him for not offering an olive branch?
  13. Well you just said Fauci created the pandemic, so yeah I for sure think that. Why wouldn’t I?
  14. Yes exactly - and that’s what they tried to do with Trump. They just asked for the documents back. Over and over and over again they just asked for them back. He refused. Even when the DoJ first got involved, they just privately asked for them back. Then Trump not only continued to refuse, he deliberately lied to the FBI about what he had. If Trump had done what is usually done in private with discretion, the Mar a Lago boxes wouldn’t even have become a story, let alone a legal case that required a deeply corrupt judge to save him from the prison sentence he deserved.
  15. Why on earth would he have been offended? You were kissing his ass….
  16. Don’t you? I mean seriously, no-one’s paying you for this, are they?
  17. I mean sure. Of course a Trump supporter would idolise a foreign populist who treats the government as a bottomless piggy bank for his whole family’s personal benefit. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/aug/28/argentina-javier-milei-hit-with-rocks-on-campaign-trail-amid-corruption-scandal-ntwnfb
  18. Where’s the honesty in what you just said to Winsor? You admit you shit all over academia and call them a bunch of cowards… then as soon as you find out someone you agree with might work in the field it’s all “oh sir have I ever told you how greatly I respect the work you all do and it would be an honour to lick your shoes clean if you ever need it!” But hey, it’s not your fault really. It’s just how the new Right has conditioned you to behave.

The opposition to cashless bail is just insane. Not that you couldn’t genuinely think (for some reason) that cash bail is a better system, but that every argument against cashless that I’ve ever seen is just ‘OMG we shouldn’t be releasing any suspected criminals back onto the streets!!’ and it’s just like… that’s what fucking BAIL is. At least cashless bail the only deciding factor on release or not is your danger to the community. Not the old ‘hey we think you’re pretty damn heinous but if you can lay your hand on a couple million bucks then who really cares?’

Ok cool - Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are still allowed to burn the flag. Got it.

You don't seriously believe that it should only be legal to do things that you personally like to do. So why pose such a stupid question?

And the way to foster genuine respect is to demand it under penalty of imprisonment?
  23. Why shouldn’t she go there? Because you have no comeback? FYI the open trading in child abuse videos on Twitter has skyrocketed since Musk bought the platform. Because the richest man in the world is too greedy to spend any money on stopping it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq587wv4d5go

  25. Just so we’re absolutely clear on this - making sure DEI principles are implemented in academia is crucial to stave off fascism? Is that really true though? Are you sure? I mean have you, er, been to a museum?
