That’s what you said. You only quote academics based on their ideas, not their race, and you almost exclusively quote black academics. So how do you explain the fact that black academics have all the good ideas at the moment? How come white profs can’t come up with anything worth repeating?

Right - I will happily concede that it is an entirely colourblind approach that leads to you only quoting black academics, because it just so happens to be the case that only black academics have ideas worth quoting. I’m not arguing with you on that. Im just wondering why you think that is the case right now. What do you think has lead to black academics dominating the arena of ideas and white academics having nothing interesting to say?

Everyone who thinks about it for two seconds can highlight the difference. A representative of the government killed George Floyd in a way that large parts of the government approved of. A random guy with no known political affiliations killed Charlie Kirk. Who would you go and demonstrate against?

Funny how time changes perspective. Pretty sure that fifteen years ago most people here would have agreed that several of the most powerful men in GWB’s policy group were competent and malevolent, which might be the worst of all combinations.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he deployed the military to Bethpage overnight to stop the Europeans running riot at the Ryder Cup. But seriously he described sending the military to a US city as a deployment to a war zone and said he'd authorized 'full force'. The tipping point into undeniable overt fascism is definitely in the rear view mirror at this point. You can only hope the officers and troops are smart enough to realise they do not have any of the blanket immunity that Trump does.

GWB’s group fabricated the intelligence that led to the invasion of Iraq. GWB’s group created the Afghan quagmire and set its government up for failure. They made no attempt to understand the politics of the region before setting up a random warlord as President and sending a couple of college kids to write him a constitution. Culminating in the ‘08 financial crash GWBs entire presidency was a global disaster of seismic proportions, the aftershocks and ramifications of which created the conditions of misery and dissatisfaction that Trump himself capitalised on in his campaigns.
