So again my question, why didn't we? Trump had a year to do it, he did nothing and no-one was asking him to. Biden had 6 months, he did nothing and no-one was asking him to. Neither did any other allied country (though I guess Uk and Oz were pretty much the only other ones left). This is simply the way our countries work, we're not going to do shit to help the people who helped us until it becomes irrefutably clear that we need to do it right the fuck now - which is why we're doing it right the fuck now instead of having it done and dusted in 20fucking20. At least you're now admitting that this idea of making everything better by pulling the troops out in winter is an irrelevant nonsense.
-
Well, I can fly helicopters, but whatever. Right, but again the thing that you don't understand is, who are you withdrawing? The mass evacuation of Afghanistan was not triggered by the withdrawal of troops. It was triggered by the Taliban retaking the country. If you withdraw in winter the Taliban will not retake the country in winter. You pointed that out yourself, in case you've forgotten. So what happens in winter? Afghanistan is a friendly country with an allied government. Why would we be running an evacuation? The Taliban would simply overrun the country in spring instead, and you'd have just kicked the exact same shitshow a few months down the road, except now you don't even have the troops left to secure Hamid Karzai Airport. I don't understand why you don't understand this simple, self evident fact. So here's a question, Trump signed the withdrawal agreement 18 months ago. We've already had 18 months including an entire winter season to evacuate all these people. So why didn't we?

No, it really looks like you've realised you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Otherwise you'd probably be able to form sentences that convey thoughts.
-
More words..... you've realised you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
-
Precious time to do what? You’re still not understanding the situation. We’re not evacuating tens of thousands of people because we left. We’re evacuating tens of thousands of people because the Taliban defeated the government and retook the country. If we left in winter and the Taliban doesn’t immediately retake the country that does not mean we have loads of time to easily evacuate everyone. It means the evacuation doesn’t happen.
-
So? They didn’t take Kabul hours after they started re-occupying the country. It took weeks. You can’t just make shit up and act like it proves your point. We are aware of reality.
-
So enlighten us - what is this global reset and why did Trump want it to happen?
-
But what happens if you do the other thing? Under a conditions based timeline the Taliban stick to those conditions until the moment you're gone and then immediately invade the whole country. Maybe you don't get the dead Marines in yesterday's attack, but without them there to secure the evacuation you'd get more americans stuck and fewer Afghans out.
-
Being from Afghanistan, I'm going to assume that they know that, so they would simply have waited until spring to take the whole country in a couple of weeks. So then again it would be a cas of attempting a short notice emergency evacuation just without any troops on the ground to help.
-
What do you think would have happened if the pullout had been done in winter? What difference do you think it would have made? Do you think the evacuation after the fall of Kabul in spring would have been easier with no allied troops left in the country??
-
So now it's not the wrong thread because you realise it was you that did it? ... You ruined it.
-
Wow! Ok, so we're both on the same page here - you're saying it was wrong for you to post about Trump and Obama in a Biden thread? This may be the most self aware thing you've ever posted. Please don't ruin it.

Bad black man gone, bad black man gone. Fucking years ago too, not just months.
-
Imagine being at the point where you don’t trust doctors to tell you which human drugs to take but you do trust Reddit to tell you which animal drugs from the farm store to take.
-
Wow. Ok. I’d really like to know more about your thinking here. Do you think Trump was the only person who realised it would be nice to have a vaccine? Do you think he was the only person who thought it would be worthwhile trying to make one? And if you think Trump had any significant impact in pushing for a vaccine that other politicians wouldn’t have had, how come the first US approved vaccine was developed with no federal funding? How come other countries had programs that produced vaccines at about the same time as the US? The only vaccine related thing Trump’s administration had direct input on earth as the rollout, and to put it politely that was a fucking shitshow.
-
The only thing to change that would make a worthwhile difference is not leaving. Then pretty soon the Taliban, understanding that the deal is over, start attacking coalition troops again. Then you need another troop surge to push the Taliban back to where they were 5 years ago. Then you have a decision to make - do you stay forever with deployment numbers in the tens of thousands (because that's what it will take to stop the Taliban from rebounding again) or do you stay just for a generation with overwhelming numbers of troops, diplomats, educators, utility constructors etc. with a unified strategy and unlimited budget to do what it takes to actually build a sustainable Afghan state? That last one is a trick question, by the way. There has never been and never will be anything remotely resembling the political will to commit to building an Afghan state. Whenever we left, however we left, Afghanistan was going to fall. That it happened immediately instead of a couple of months later makes no difference to anything but the optics.
-
How would you describe your feelings for any administration over the past 20 years? What is happening now is exactly what Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld promised us would happen. They were adamant from day one that the US would not be sucked into a nation building project in Afghanistan, and look - we haven’t built a nation in Afghanistan! Someone break out the GWB ‘Mission Accomplished’ photo because it’s finally true.
-
Come on dude. I don’t know how self absorbed you need to be to see the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan only as an opportunity for domestic partisan backbiting.
-
You've spoken about almost nothing but racism since you started posting here again. In this case, people talking to you about race in unrelated threads is a result of your obsession, not theirs.
-
Once again Trump assuming everyone else is as venal as him.
-
I would say that’s just a failing of your imagination, but it’s actually so much worse. You don’t need to imagine it. It happens all the time.
-
Well... he got the government invlved in an Afghan war when there was clearly no planning, enthusiasm or resolve for building a better Afghanistan in the aftermath. Isn't that exactly what's been happening for the last 20 years?
-
The US have lost or pulled out of a lot of wars and conflicts since Taiwan's split from mainland China. I don't see why this one should be a major catalyst for global change. Afghanistan was never anything more than a half arsed side project for Washington DC anyway, if it even counted as that.
-
In the grand scheme of things another 1 winter of freedom before the Taliban took over doesn't make a huge amount of difference for Afghanistan. What has changed that wasn't inevitable?
-
What has to be wrong? That video snippet was edited to be entirely information free as to why she resigned or what the alleged agenda were. When did you become such an uncritical consumer of media opinion?
