Dee dah dee dee doe doe, dee dahdahdeedeedoe. My goal is to remember all of the stuff I didn't remember last year. Or at the very least "start" a little later in the evening so I have a shot at remembering something. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -
I stand corrected, the Farm has a great campground, and the bonfires kick ass. I've just haven't jumped there yet. If Chris Spence (The Roaming DZ) is throwing anything while you're here.......GO. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

Nonsense, give that man points for unoriginality, that's only the 10th time I've seen him type that in the last week. Anyways Saint Dude, I've only been to Thomaston and ASC, and both are great places. Thomaston has a hellasciously fast pimp ride for a plane, and a huge pet friendly hangar, and they don't rely so heavily on tandems so there are usually a lot of fun jumpers. ASC has a Twin Otter with a big door and an airconditioned packing area, plus if you like Scotty Carbones's cooking you'll find him and Tami out back making brisket and what have you. Yeah that was great last year. But how can you hate when the skies clear as soon as you hit the DZ.......it happened to me too. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

I will most likely be flying into Daytona if you can change your ticket. I got nothing on the acomodations. Sorry. It may be well worth it to change to Daytona (unless you've already thought of this in which case you may bitch slap me when we meet) since that airport is only like 30 mins away from DeLand if that, Orlando is like 2 hours or so I think. What can we do about Skyride?

So you think up-jumpers can be held criminally liable? Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -
For whatever my two cents is worth, I'm 6'2" and right at 225. I was heavier when I was at your stage of the game, and from #24 till about 250 I was on a Sabre II 210 loaded right around 1.3. I found this canopy to be very comfortable and predictable, good for getting back from long spots and sporty enough to segway into more aggresive flying (with coaching). Definately consult with your S&TA and more experenced canopy pilots, but I'd throw my vote up to demo a Sabre II 230. The reason I'd give the Sabre II a try is that if it does suit your skill level and flying style at lighter wing loadings it is a great canopy to learn everyting from the very basics all the way to more aggresive flying. What can we do about Skyride?

Throttle back there turbo, what's with the personal attack. I don't recall directing anything at you, I asked a general question about where people thought the liability should lie, how far down the chain it should go, and how far back it should reach. I asked the question to provoke some thought and insight into the subject because it can be very far reaching or very accute depending on the stance one might take depending on their understanding of how specific laws apply to those involved directly and indirectly. Now, since you were directly involved with Skyride/ ASC for around seven years I could certainly understand where you might have an interest in how some of those laws will be applied, however, I fail to see how accusing me of supporting thievery and depriving a child is remotely relevant as I have done neither. That said, I sincerely would like to know (since this seems to be largely about ethics) how far people generally think the "chain of responsibility" should go. Tagging on to the MCI / ENRON comment from earlier, there is always a fall guy. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

I DON'T work there, however, I have a good many friends that make their livelyhood from skydiving. I'm an up-jumper, (To my knowledge this is not crime), and ASC is not the only place I jump. As for those that do work there, MOST do so for the same reason everyone else in the world has a job............they have kids, they have families, they have bills. I'm just throwing the responsibility thing out there as food for thought. Seriously, if someone had knowledge of all of these illegal activities and chose to hold on to that knowledge instead of reporting it when they gained said knowledge, I would tend to think they could be held accountable. Not by the USPA, but by any investigative and prosecuting agencies. (I think it's called conspiring, but I'm not 100% on that) I just wonder where the chain of responsibility will/should stop. Does it stop at the owner, the business manager, the phone sales personell, the tandem master, the manifest, the maintenance staff. Or should the liability be placed on those who, during there time of employment (service in a paid staff position), had specific knowledge of illegal activities and practices. Again, I'm not trying to justify anybody's actions, I'm not making excuses for anyone. I'm just wondering what the general concensus is. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

So what about all the people that worked for Ben and Carey while this monster was being built? What do we do about them? I mean as independant contractors, by choosing to sork for ASC doesn't that implement them in this mess? I mean if you're gonna go, go all the way right......... Just wondering about the popular opinion on this matter........I think it sucks about the whole phone number thing, and I think it sucks that people get charged fraudulently on their credit cards, I think a lot of things suck about the whole thing. What can we do about Skyride?

I've got eye drops for you Mike if your vision is clouded. Maybe you need glasses. Don't worry the weather is supposed to clear up this weekend so your vision shouldn't be cloudy any more. I guess what really kills me is the way that everyone band wagons on issues like this what I'd like is to hear from someone that actually got screwed by Skyride. Everywhere I go people talk about the big evil ASC/ Skyride and the when I ask, the majority of those people have never been to the DZ, granted it's not 20 minutes from everwhere, but it ain't all that hard to find. Or the story was an "I heard yadda yadda yadda about yadda". I can't say nuch for skyrides business practices/ethics, but I can say that ASC does run smoothly, and safely and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my rig beside Mike and his staff. It is my home DZ and I've been their for over 2 years. What I can say is that indoor, air conditioned packing kicks ass when it's 100 degrees out. The fact that they will fly the Otter with 6 or 7 people kicks ass. The parties kick ass, the people kick ass, the staff kicks ass. The owners let us do our thing and help out with bail. I'll say it again, SKYRIDE IS SEPARATE FROM ASC, SKYRIDE IS A BOOKING AGENCY, ASC IS A DROPZONE. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
