I hear ya homey. What I will say is this.....New Ideas are a great thing...that said it is way easier to spout new ideas then to actually implement them. I pay my dues and compete, and voice my opinion no doubt, I'm sure Chris and Jim can attest to that. However, I know that both Jim and Chris are trying to make our sport grow, both in competitior and spectator popularity, and I go on a little faith that both these guys and all others involved are trying their best to ensure a safe environment, a fair competitive playing field, while at the same time fostering the growth of the sport. Easily not the the simplest job in the world. Simply put: the personal time invested just to make any competition go off is immence, coordinating with dropzones can be a nightmare, and getting the judges to agree to work for the promise of a crowded hotel room, take out lunch, and a tip at the end of the day a miracle. So I say cut the guys some slack and "quit yer bitchin'" until we actually have a comp and see how everything lays itself out. After the first comp I'm sure we'll have an equal share of totally pissed and totally happy, but at least there will be a premise for all of us to go on. Practice hard. It's only a month away. I don't know if I agree with that. These guys have already proven that they were the top of there respective regions (includeing one unofficial world record holder, through five foot gates). How do you justify allowing those accomplishments to compete on ten foot gates in a league intended to foster up and coming pilots. I could see potential pilots saying "fuck it". But that's just my two cents. Five foot gates all of you!!!! Off my kool aid! Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

Learn to fly well on your belly first, then,.....and I know you probably don't want to hear it.........get some good coaching. Like most other things in life, if you start with a solid foundation, it may go slow at first but your advancement will make leaps and bounds once you master the basics. After that it's just a matter of jumping........a lot.........all the time........learn to pack fast and just get on loads and go go go Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

I'd love to say that I'll be there for sure, but I have to see what my shift bid turns out to be from work. I'm gonna try, I promise I'll probably need a pickup from Philly and someplace to crash, anyplace will do as long as it's heated and relatively urine free. How do i get a rig through the airport?
LoudDan replied to mach2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Policies Published by the TSA and nearly all domestic carriers allow for "parachuteing" or "skydiving" equipment to be either checked or carried on. The reason a gear bag is recommended, is that although the TSA is required by their policy to make every effort to inspect your rig without unpacking your reserve, they do reserve the right to do so. If this were to happen, they are required to give you a space in order to repack your rig, but since the majority of us are not riggers, the gear bag now comes into play. With a little scooping and shoving you put the deployed reserve and your rig into the gear bag and make your flight. You can find the TSA policy on their website, and you can usually look up the airline policies the same way. You can also call the airline corporate office and ask for the PR department. Any Atlanta area DZs going to be open over Christmas?

I do think it is funny how you can always count on the same folks to huck the same 'ol comments regarding the thought police, conspiracy, and the great evil of mass marketing. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

Nope. I was attempting to come across as sarcastically funny, but I think I failed on the south side of miserably. Sorry 'bout that. The whole thing sounded a lot better in my head I swear. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -
Problem.......me.......never, I was just unaware. Just out of curiosity, under whose tutelage did you gain your status as a freefly coach? Where do you do your coaching? Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

LoudDan replied to labrys's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I know some of the crew is planning to come by and say "Hi", I'll be in South Carolina though. Just a note though (I can't resist): You have to admit it is kind of ironic that the guy that assailed you (physically and verbally), for coming over to ASC from The Farm, wound up working over at the farm with you guys for a bit. C'mon you have to see the humor in that. It's funny how the world goes 'round. You guys are all welcome over on the 10th for Kate's sitfly camp (building formations) and the Christmas Party. Peace, I'm out. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

The vest looks great, albeit EXPENSIVE. But the black ops cool factor is there. I went to a scuba shop and bought a soft weight belt complete with PVC mesh backing, two inch webbing, a 2 inch fasttech clip, and a zipper top for $30. Premanufactered weight pouches were $2 per pound from 1 to 6 lbs. I fit 60lbs. in the weight belt, 'course I was useing it as a boat anchor at the time, but it closed up nice. It holds 25 lbs nicely with a rig on. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

ASC'll be opened. It's not twenty minutes from everywhere, but it's only about an hour from downtown. I imagine we'll be flying the King Air, shoot me a PM if you want info. If not Merry Christmas, I'll be jumping. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

CPC Championships and Go Fast Challenge Updates
LoudDan replied to swoopster33's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Shimmell damn well better get his pro card, it'd look pretty bad for a former world record holder (albeit for about 2 minutes before Scott Roberts laid the smack down) to be competing at the amateur level. I know Chuck Owens(3rd place) is planning on getting his pro card, as is Tyler Lawson. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -
What can we do about Skyride?
LoudDan replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not to nit pick, but ASC is not the base for Skyride...... at least not anymore, the "base" is located over in a building in Marrietta. About 50 or so miles away. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

Man I wish I had enough free time to keep up with this. I just hope sincerely that everyone who is getting up on the soap box has never cheated on their taxes, lied in court to get out of a ticket, lied to a member of the opposite sex in order to get sex, cheated on his/her significant other or spouse, driven drunk, sold drugs at a DZ, done drugs at a DZ, jumped impaired, lied about their jump numbers, pencil packed a reserve, or cheated on their A through D certs. Take a minute and think, any of these things would make you a liar, a thief, a crook, caused you to put someone elses life in jepardy, or in the pencil pack case caused you and your rigger to violate federal law. I'm not defending anyone here, but damn it seems like there are a lot of people up on the proverbial high horse throwing a lot of stones about lying, cheating, stealing, and breaking laws who are guilty (at least ethically) of the same offenses. I'm not claiming angel status, but I'm not throwing stones either. Feel free to continue the bitch session. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -
Reasons why non cross-braced peeps don't compete
LoudDan replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I can't think of any reason. I competed all season under a Sabre 2 135. (I even took home a gift scertificate during the season.) Consequently I was the largest only non-crossbraced competitor at the championships. I was also the only red card. But I DID make it, and I didn't finsih last. AND I LEARNED A LOT both at the championships, and throughout the season. The entry fee in my mind shouldn't be treated like an entry fee at all, I view it as cheap (very very cheap) coaching. All of the competitors ESPECIALLY the better known pros watch everyone, and are always more than happy to give advice and/or insight into what you are doing and how you are doing it. Even if your technique is on point, they can always help with your mental approach. It's a canopy.......fly it, learn it, and then BRING IT. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!! -

LoudDan replied to Hans's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Learn to fly that fuckin' kite o' yours and you might could land there. In all reality the landing area is not that bad, far from the worst or tightest I've ever landed at. That said it ain't no 55 acre field either. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
