  1. I don't get it..........I'll be there, but I still don't get it..... PUT THE PIPE DOWN and back away slowly Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  2. Someone would start with a lot of coaching and a lot of practice. GET COACHING and master the basic skills of canopy flight (brake turns, flat turns, accuracy landings, downwind landings, crosswind landings, toggle turns, harness, turns, riser turns, etc.). Coaching is important because people tend to get a skewed perception of their own performance (ie. you think you're consistantly hitting the gates and going 250ft, when in reality you are 5 or 10 feet vertical and going 95 feet. You think you have a smooth turn when in reality you're whipping it around. You think you are high when you are low, you think you are low when you're high. COACHING COACHING COACHING. A good pro will break down every point of any maneuver you throw under canopy, show you where you are inefficient or off, and tell you how to improve. OUTSIDE VIDEO IS WORTH GOLD!! Don't think smaller is better: You can learn a lot under a bigger canopy. If you think you are being limited by your canopy, ask a pro or an advanced CP on the dropzone to jump it and see how they do with it, and more times than not be prepared to strap that badboy back on and continue learning. The more you learn and the more you practice, the more level the competition field will start to look. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  3. Cause I had other things to do that weekend, it's all my fault. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  4. We've got Jack Barns at ASC, 67 years old, and an avid freeflyer. Good too. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  5. I'll be there have no fear. I just have to let Trey know when my schedule is open, and we'll make it happen.
  6. See things have a funny way of working themselves out......I couldn't make it, Boogie gets postponed until my schedule allows. I love you guys. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  7. Actually, I can't, I will be in Myrtle Beach (sorry, better offer). I do need to make my way down to Thomaston though, ya'll know I've got nothing but luv for ya. But to answer your question, I was just being sarcastic about the whole mike Mullins thing. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  8. Is Mike Mullins putting on this Boogie?? Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  9. IMO until you can fly the piss out of that Safire you have, keep the crossfire on hold. It's not so much the wingloading that'll put you in the corner (it helps though) but a crossfire is a much more agressively designed canopy than your Safire. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  10. How much money will I be taking from you?? Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  11. Despite what people say about ASC, if you want to learn, in a safe and profesional environment be it freeflying, canopy skills, or belly flying you would be doing yourself a diservice to not come out and give it a try. We've got great freeflyers, kickass belly flyers, and some amazing canopy pilots. We did 23 loads out of the Otter last Saturday 18 on Sunday, and 38 loads the weekend before. Some of the naysayers in this thread got their start at ASC, or got some help there to get to the skill level they are at today, and a good deal of the negative comments about the dropzone come from people who have never set foot on the place. Don't get me wrong, Skydive Atlanta is a great dropzone, with very talented skydivers and a great staff, and their plane is truly pimpaliscious (you've gotta see it truly understand). I've not yet jumped at the other dropzones in this state, so I can't give you any insight. Good luck and be safe wherever you go. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  12. Sorry to hear of your loss dude. Taps and the folding of the flag have always been the hardest thing for me to handle at a funeral. My best wishes go to you and your family, and my thanks goes to your grandfather for serving. -LD Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

  14. Or we could throw Mark on one of those mideval torture racks and stretch his munchkin ass. I like this idea, it has merit, benefits the community as a whole, and I will support it. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

  19. If I can get some practice in Friday, I'll probably wander on over, I downsized, and only have 50 or so jumps on my 135 @ 1.8. and I just can't seem to get it dialed. We'll see. I'll definately stop in to say Hi at the least. I can also be bribed to let the air out of Mark's tires before I leave the house in the morning. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

Right up the street from me behotch................ I tried the tight fit too, but the autograph lines were to long. OK truthfully, I'm around 250 or so out the door, and I looked a lot like link sausage. I could've been a Jimmy Dean spokes model. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

  24. My favorite is a dive that Stuey Newman showed the group @ Richmond (yeah that Richmond). You can do this with two, or more skilled skydivers. Exit head down flower, move grips out to round, break and back out from the round, transition to sit, drive in to campfire, transition to belly, drive in and take hand grips forming a belly round (or whatever that thing's called), key the transition and everyone goes into a stand(ing round). If you can get through all of these points, you can break out of the standing round get back on the belly hook up and get into the stand again. This jump is a blast (especially once you pull it off), and since (as far as I know) Stuey thought this cluster fuck up, I've always called it the "Stuey Newman Dive" Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
