I agree; but unfortunately the smear ads have become politics as usual for both sides. I am sure the Republicans would blame Michael Moron, MoveOn.org, et.al. if they lose (which I am kind of still 50/50 on if I had to guess who was going to)... There has never been more of a grassroots upswell of negative opinion about a sitting president (by his campaign's own admission); if they can't manage to take advantage of that to unseat him, then they have no one to blame but themselves. I would have to agree, and I am not even voting for him. On the other hand, the Kerry "rebuttal" speech was a DISASTER; who in the world thought it would be a good idea to follow a speech that had been MONTHS in the making with a cobbled together rebuttal written in an hour and read off of note cards? You know, I have never been a big cat guy, but I somehow ended up with one (last of the litter, in a cardboard box, nobody wanted him because he was all black, didn't have the heart to leave him) about 18 months ago. He was about the size of a softball. He now weighs about 15 pounds (I asked the vet about it; his answer was "hey, he's just big") and he sits on my chest every morning and stares at me until I wake up and feed him. That is actually very funny and extremely timely... Personally, I am not voting for George Bush in this election, for no other reason than that in my opinion he has done a really crappy job of running the country. That being said, I think there is an inordinate amount of hypocrisy on both sides regarding issues such as this. I think it is slightly more threatening to the liberal viewpoint because they have a tendency (in my experience) to be much "holier than thou" about such things (and yes, I AM a liberal, for the most part anyways).
