  1. Hey man, a lot of people fly into Zurich, Switzerland and then take a train down to Lauterbrunnen. If you find a way into Germany you can take a train down. Go to this site http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en to go anywhere from Germany. Use this dictionary www.dict.tu-chemnitz.de/ to translate some stuff to figure out the site. Good luck man. Edit: It's about 100.00 Euro for a 22 year old to go from Frankfurt to Lauterbrunnen and return the next day. http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?ld=212.56&seqnr=1&ident=69.03022214.1118315703&OK#focus
  2. Nick that was a good read. Especially relating past event to the present. A lot of us new guys don't know the roots of the "Jam Rule" and where it was used. My point is; If you jump with people it's not to just have people there. If that were the case then do it on your own. It is to have jumpers there that you trust and rely on for advise and to give me the countdown when it sticks on two. When shit happens, I also want to be there for them when my bro/sis is in agony or to get them in a better mood after the fuzz pisses on the fun. No one is gonna accept responsibility, if even partial, for something I did. Especially if it was my gear.
  3. I think seeing them through it shows a lot for character and helps out in the recovery if there is one. I was seen through mine and it helped knowing that my bros were there. Maybe it’s the way I have grown up in the various lifestyles but sticking with has always proved better than splitting the blame. Here are a few examples of things that I have seen that are inexcusable and irreversible; -Leaving after an accident having the only vehicle, even if there is prodding to do so. This just shows that you have that seed planted and will bail in the future. -Putting newbie skydivers off an object with absolutely no idea what you are doing and almost killing them, then allowing the blame to go on someone else. -Recruiting newbie skydivers to BASE jump. -Forcing your BASE antics on people through your video camera at the local dz. This is jsut bad form to me. Playing a vid on the monitor for all to see is not what I am talking about. Sticking with your buddies, knowing your opposition, and treading lightly. Anyone with half a personality can figure out how to deal with people and logically deduct whether it’s worth the trouble to hang or go on their own accord.
  4. Because sometimes destiny isn't fast enough and it's a good way to compare host country hospitals to your home country's.

    The Odds...

I guess my question would be, "How close are we to 4,999?"
  6. Sorry that is only for the people that went through more than a filing class to wear the badge.
  7. That is the goal. He will respond to our posts here with an "I think this is a personal attack" go try to hide behind Tom and start PMing every mod(sans Skymonkeyone) or the Honcho to get MORE attention. If his post count drops under 2.465567 posts a day he will control, alt, delete. That's a fact that I ignored for a long time out of pity. If we be real quiet you will be able to hear the clicking. Don't let it get to you. Troll tactic no. 1
  8. This is where I went first in the Valley. The Horner Pub is near the waterfall. Any of the ladies(Especially Marie) will be able to guide you in the right direction for Air Glacier. They are also very easy to deal with. You can speak pretty much three different languages at either place and you will get your point accross. The Horner has had vacancy the four or five times I have been down there. Good food great time!
  9. That's cool. Keep your head up.
  10. What would be cooler is if you had a team that overlooked the fact that you were taking the already hazardous situation and making it worse for yourself and everyone. Then have them pull security while you found your way back up to the drop off point or wait until you get to the top to jump it. Ah, wouldn't life be great. I had my rig with me. Team didn't mesh with the idea though. I mostly got blank stares.
  11. Congrats man, I just had my son also. Good luck!.....Matt

    BASE RIG

EDAS is a system that is illegal to use to verify personnel information and blast it out over the net. Just be a little more forthcoming with some past history and read around here and blinc with some common questions. You don't know us and we don't know you. You will probably not get along with too many people here since every post here has been a flame so lurk around and read up. Updating the dumb ass profile is the last thing you need to worry about getting into BASE jumping. If you want to learn BASE get ahold of one of the first jump course instructors like Tom A here and Blinc Magazine. Get some skydiving in so you have that in your bag also. Static line military jumps have nothing in common with BASE or Skydiving. Also know who you are learning/taking advice from.

    BASE# Stories

While I was in the valley my buddy 789 met up with 862. I was in the neighboring town's hospital so I didn't get to meet him. Would have been cool. I also don't know who 859 is.

    BASE# Stories

My wife is BASE 860 and I am BASE 861. I called Joy and she said there were a lot of numbers to process at the time and we might not get them together since there was a gap on our qual jumps. We did though. I have a couple buddies that are one number apart also.
  15. Get well man, Try to keep your feet away from your face for a while. That sucks, you look like I did in the hospital. How's that morphine?

    The End . . . ?

Best wishes Nick. No pic this time?
  17. Dude that totally sucks. I had two eight foot Dumeril Boas that were beautiful and got into EVERYTHING! It looks a lot like what that snake is. I hate seeing stuff like that. Some POS must have gotten rid of it or it got away. That sucks big time.
  18. Yup, it's amazing what ignorant trolls see when they look through the eyes of someone worth a shit. Edit: Hope for a speedy recovery
  19. Don't count on it man. I put in a congressional once and it was summarily overlooked. Kind of like they were used to doing it. We could definitely inundate them with letters. The responses might be mildly amusing.
  20. The "Not sure what that was all about" list.
  21. I would have to agree with the smaller volume thing. Absinth is no joke. The best Absinth I've had was made in the Czech Republic like the one pictured.
  22. I think he should go on the bottom list. He died trying his best to BASE jump although he never completed one. I had a crazy buddy that did a "Reserve BASE" jump. It's still a BASE jump even if he slipped on exit or fell off while getting out to the exit. Do you need to die starting on your second BASE jump to be considered for the lists. If falling off a fixed object with the intention of doing a BASE jump isn't a BASE jump then we need to start defining things again. Bottom line is he died in pursuit of a BASE jump. He should be recognized on the list. Plus it shows another link to USPA supporting BASE before the bandwagon had wheels.
