Would you vote for a confirmed atheist for president?
IanHarrop replied to JackC's topic in Speakers Corner
That would be really scary! I think that the religious right wants a president that they can influence to get their own way. Ideally they want government (the President and the Congress) remove sex education from the classroom, outlaw condoms, outlaw abortion, outlaw rock n'roll, require their prayers in school, enforce dress codes in schools, ban Sunday shopping, etc.. It boils down to limiting the people rights to act or think in ways not acceptable to the religious right. Basically turn the USA into Iran but lead by Christians rather than Muslims. OOPS I answered the question: Would you vote for a confirmed atheist for president? And said Yes. If I had answered the question: It's often said that an atheist would never get in as president of the USA. Do you think this is true? I would have said No Of course that fact that I can't vote for any US president because I'm Canadian should not be relevant. If I was American I would have voted the same way. Yes or um... do I mean No...? The results of this poll will be very telling "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -

Well the answer is... They don't really know if there are any on this flight. They do know that all of their testing allowed in one psycho and so it seems reasonable that their testing allowed in more than one. Until their procedures are reviewed, updated and applied to existing personnel they won't know how many more psychos are on staff and what positions they hold. Of course that assumes that their new procedures and tests will actually catch all the psychos. I suggest that we psychos are very good at hiding just how crazy we are. My understanding of the issue regarding letting people under 18 jump relates to the waiver. If you are not 18 there is an issue with you signing and the waiver being enforceable, that is are you in a legal position to sign away your right to sue. If you are not 18 and your parents sign for you, there is an issue with your parents signing away your right to sue. Some places feel that being under 18 may mean more legal hassles and want to avoid as many hassles as possible, so they restrict people under 18 from jumping at their dz. I am not a lawyer and the laws may be different where you live... this is just my understanding of the issue. I recommend being up front with the dz management. Believe it or not: Foreign Policy Success for Bush
IanHarrop replied to Zipp0's topic in Speakers Corner
I am pleased that there is an agreement, but not optimistic. There seems to be a track record of N.K. saying one thing and doing another. I wonder how much aid they'll get before the agreement is abandoned? Or worded differently - How much free stuff will they get and still have their nuclear programs? Apparently because of the positioning of the loop and the shape of the standard pin there is a potential for a bent pin if everything happens to line up wrong and your closing loop is extremely tight.
