Start reading http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Learn_to_Skydive/ Remember the best advice is probably coming from your instructors and not from any internet source. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

It would be interesting to know if the can of ScotchGaurd is still around, then they could test the fabric with the actual stuff used on it. Somewhere there's a combination of things that made this happen and it would be neat if everything could be tested. I suggest that there is one way that you can look at this from a medical perspective that works well. Alcohol is an antiseptic - if you have a cut you put alcohol on to kill the germs and help the wound heal. Your wound is not on the outside where you can apply alcohol with a swab, so the only choice open to you for applying alcohol to the wound is to drink it. Here's a source to consider - Sure they're in Canada but as their biggest market is the US their price sheet is in US$ and are pretty competitive. http://gocrazyman.com I got my suit from them and I'm really happy with it. Right now they claim to have 3 week delivery for custom made suits. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

How old were you when you did your first jump?
IanHarrop replied to Orange1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Ian, I was 28 and May 31st will be the 25th anniversary of my first jump. I have a 7TU C9 and a ParaCommander...wanna go retro? I love to but not being as "svelt" as I was oh so many years ago, perhaps it would be best for me to look for water landing -
Just make sure you drink a lot when you do it so you have an excuse for getting hurt.

Oh sure you can go to that site - but all you will get is better video quality and a site dedicated to skydiving movies. You will miss out on the T & A found at the other place

Your problem is believing that it is only a perception that North is up. IT IS A REALITY!
-
Seems obvious to me: * Look at any globe - we're on top * Everyone knows - North is UP * No one says "Let's go up south" but they do say "lets go up north" Only people who are on the wrong side of the earth would think that south is up. Sorry if you felt I was critizing your jumps, that was not my intent. My intent was to support you in questioning everything. Blue ones "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

In this other thread you mention not accomplishing something but getting a pass anyway. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1657660#1657660 You are probably right to question if you are getting the right advice when you are being told you are a natural but are getting a pass even when you miss something. Look at the comments from MakeItHappen - she's been around a long time (sorry Jan, but all of us are getting older!), been involved with this sport at a whole variety of levels and she's seen a lot. You might even want to check our her website for more good information. http://makeithappen.com/ "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Looked at the Caravan pictures and I have what is probably a "Stupid Question" In the first few pictures there is a big lumpy thing attached to the underside of the aircraft, but the big lumpy thing is not in the subsequent pictures. What is the "big lumpy thing"? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
