Hi, I just can't get it. I tried right hand turns today and it didn't work. It just feels totally weird when I pull the riser with the right hand. I ended up doing my turn much too fast and was flying straight in 100 feet. It feels like I don't have the strength in my right hand to turn it slowly, though I am right handed. Has anybody got some useful suggestions beside the "Just do it like a left handed turn" ? Why does it feel so totally different? Thanks in advance, Max

Hi, just wanted to say that it's not always the fault of the canopy to spin up on opening. packing, body position etc.. I think you already know what I mean. I own a stiletto which I load at 1.6 and only had one linetwist on it and it keept flying straight. I made a few intentional linetwist up high to see if anything happens, but other than a slow turn I got nothing out of it. But I know things can easily go bad (i.e. spin) if you have a linetwist with uneven risers.. Max

In Germany the law is: If it's unprotected and open to everyone and you don't have to bypass any passwords or security mechanisms you can use it legally. I really like this law because whenever I need to be on the net and there is no internet cafe etc near I just drive around and go and find access.. It has become sooo easy in nowadays! Half of the networks are protected (WEP so WPA) and deny access and the other half are open to everyone. Most of them have a DHCP running, so getting access is just a click away. I never make extensive use of it, just checking mails, checking my websites, etc.. and I'm gone. I know that the people mostly don't know that their connection is being used by me, but I don't harm them in any way, because they have a flatrate anyway and pay for it. just my 0.02 euro Max

The jumper in Germany probably did the same thing. His canopy then drifted with the wind and he broke 2 vertebreas during his unconsciuos landing.. He died 2 days later in the hospital because of it.. I don't know, but I guess cutting away and pulling the reserve (or at least cutting away if a cypres is installed) could increase your chance of surviving such a situation. Especially with a canopy which has a higher WL. What does the SIM say to this scenario? In Germany we don't have any advice given in the handbooks.. Max

Hi, One of the last incidents in germany made me think of a scenario that could happen which I never have thought of.. Imagine you just made a perfect skydive, openend your canopy, unstowed your brakes and flew for a while.. Suddenly you feel uncomfortable, your vision gets blurry, or you feel sick, you can't breath, whatever.. And you know you are gonna pass out in the next couple seconds. You have a canopy over your head which has a (significant) higher WL than 1.0. What are you gonna do? Feel free to share any thoughts.. Max

1. It was relined only 150 jumps ago. 2. I don't "snap" my turn.. I pull the front riser slowly and try to let it go up slowly, but because of the pressure that builds up it tends to go up quicker than when I pull it down. Of course I don't just let it slip through my hand.. Feet up! Max

Hi, I have a problem with my Stiletto135 which I load at approx. 1.6. At the moment I am still working on 180's and to get them right there where I want them.. But during the last 20 jumps a problem appeared. (I have switched from a normal toggle-flare landing to rearriser landings or landings with no input at all (except for the last few feet of course)). When I land with rears or with no input my canopy tends to "lift of" a little bit, which is always about 3-5 feet.. This does not happen when I land with my toggles. At first I thought it comes from too much input from the rears, but then it also happens when I give no input at all.. This really pisses me off, because I want to stay at ground level during my landing and don't want to look like an idiot which gives to much flare input.. Some people say it's because I have triple risers and some say it's because of the Stilettos recovery arc.. When I try the turn it in the air I get the same effect: I loose a lot of height first but at the end of the recovery arc I gain some good feet.. So can someone give me some good advice how I can convert this extra lift into some distance? BTW: I start my 180 at about 350 feet, which I don't think is too low for a stiletto at my WL. I do a progressive frontriser turn (start slow and get faster) and when needed I add the other riser, too.. I always start my turn out of a deep braked flight. I really appreciate any good input!

Hi, My second rig is a teardrop classic, which I used for my first freefly and headdown jumps.. Never had a problem with it, but i replaced my velcros every 70 jumps or so.. The main flap never opened and I always made sure that the pin was tight and in a good condition. But I saw other classics with open flaps all the time and even one where the risers came out in freefall I now have a teardrop sf which I really like.. Max

1. Pepecar is really the cheapest way.. We paid about 19 Euro a day! 2. I think you can come by train, check their website for details.. 3. Theresas Hotel is the way to go! Very nice accomodation with an old spanish lady, who speaks no word english Nice, but old interior.. You can use their kitchen for free (And she will even clean it up for you! lol.. Ok, you didn't hear this from me !) Call the dropzone if she has free rooms during that time you are visiting.. A supermarket is about 10 kilometers away and the (good) hospital is about 50 kilometers away (I broke my hand there, but thats another story.. Have fun there! The people are VERY nice! Cheers, Max

Some keywords for you to google.. WPA, OpenSSL and OpenVPN Forget WEP, it's crap... Mac filtering is also senseless, because you can change your mac-id to any id you like.. Beware: Even with the all the technology available today you can't make your network 100% safe HTH, Max

Hassfurt has become one of my favourite DZs in Germany. The vibe is very nice there and they don't have this "in-crowd" thing there, so everybody is talking to you no matter where you from or what you are doing. The facilities (toilets, showers..) are the cleanest I have ever seen on a Dropzone. Showering feels like you were at home! The packing area is also huge and has carpet. There is always enough space for everyone. The landing area is very large (lengthwise) and there are plenty of outs in 3 directions.. But in 1 direction there is a big forrest, so you have to watch out for that one. They don't have a restaurant/bar directly at the dropzone, but a few meters away there is a restaurant which belongs to the airport. But the town is not far away either with lots of restaurants.. All together its a very nice place to visit.. If you are nearby make sure to come and make a jump!

How often do you wash your jumpsuit???
Maxx replied to sum1mom's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I never washed my jumpsuit.. My mum just occasionally grabs it out of my bag and washs it.. But I can't say why or when she is doing this. Everytime I get it back it's a little bit smaller, but perfect yellow/white.. On the other side I don't care if it has little stains, or even a big green scratch on it.. Dirty looking, clean flying Max -
Look for new goals in jumping.. Create a freefly team and train compulsarys or participate in a 4-way team and try to get really good at it, try flying birdman, try CRW, try accuracy with your normal canopy... There is so much more in this sport than just driving to various DZs at the weekend and make some jumps! In your other post you state that you want to see someone going in and in this post you say: So whats the point? Try to become one with yourself first and then go on.. Feet up! Max

Hi Sangiro, everything is superfast today.. Good work! Max

Hi HH, Thank you for working this out.. I also noticed major speed problems during the day, but I thought this was a problem of the transatlantic connection.. Keep us updated when everything is running smooth again.. You rock! Max

Hi Bill, Thank you for your description! This is basically what I was already doing instinctivly, but I never thought about it.. Thanks again, Max
