  1. Sounds like some of the tandem rigs at Sebastian! LOL! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  2. I know that sounded really egotistical. Sorry. The thing is, I did not train everyone in our office; and some I did train were virtually unreachable/unteachable in the first place. (Try teaching a 76-year-old woman to use a program like InDesign. She's lucky to be able to start and quit the program.) So I am subject to maddeningly bad ads to proofread. (Proofreading here is my main responsibility; training others on the program is secondary.) Many/most of the people here do not have a methodical/logical head for constructing good ads using this program to the best advantage. That's why I felt the need to exclaim that I'm an "expert". Compared to these people, on this program, I'm the man. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  3. Dude, I'm a fuckin' EXPERT on it. I'm the trainer at my office for new hires. InDesign 2.0 is the program we use to build all the ads at this newspaper. (I'm working in that program "now," as we speak.) What do you need to know? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  4. I took her post to make clear that these guys were advancing on her with nefarious intent, and were veiling their true meaning behind "benign" words that make it sound, on paper, like they just wanted to hang out or something. I'll bet it was pretty clear to her at the time that they intended her harm, or at least to force her to do things that were against her will. Explain to us how drawing and being ready to fire her gun put her more at risk than she was already, if she hadn't had the means of fending these animals off. Sometimes you can't help ending up in a place that is kind of seedy. Yeah, going to a bar for directions might not be the best idea, but is it better to wander aimlessly in an unfamiliar part of town, possibly to end up in a worse area? Maybe the "bar" she referred to was more like a TGIFriday's or something less down-n-gritty than you're thinking, anyway. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 5. Do y'all understand what I'm saying? A person who had not heard any news, who reads, "One of the miners was found in a mine car," could easily wonder, "Well, was he ALIVE?" "Found" does not equate automatically to "found DEAD." -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  6. Had you read the other posts, PJ, you'd've seen the condition was dead... Now there's not much hope for the other dozen, as they can't seem to be found. Ciels- Michele I understood that; I had read the other posts. I was pointing out the inaccurate (careless?) way in which lisamariewillbe had reported. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  7. lmao I would call you a fool but it would be a waste of my time... maybe how i react to your posts has alot to do with how you think ... ie not so bad way to die , druggies deserve what they get etc etc... and people thing artistcalledian is a troll... Not bothering with capitalization... Writing "thing" instead of "think"... Are you posting drunk?! Good reporting, there. Found in a mine car what? Could you be a little more specific as to his condition? Help me out, here... -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  8. so is this That was a direct response to someone offering a personal view that drowning would be a bad way to die. And I offered my personal view that I thought it would not be that bad. It had nothing to do with "taste" because I was not talking about how/whether a bunch of innocent mine workers might die. WTF is your problem? You're so hot to try to call me out that you don't mind looking foolish? Drowning is taking water or fluid into the lungs. It's not about running out of air. You could have a whole scuba tank on at the ready and then take the mouthpiece out and suck in water and you'd drown. You can run out of breathable air in an enclosed space. Is that the same as drowning? Why don't you lose this petty hard-on you have against me? WTF, did I insult your honor or something? Ohhh, that's right, it was about RELIGION, wasn't it? I insulted your RELIGION, and now you bear a grudge against me, to the point where you come out of the woodwork to try to make me look like I'm wrong about random facts. More proof, perhaps, that religious people cannot abide anyone else's views? If you express a different one, you incur the wrath of a religious person. I'll make a mental note of it. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  9. I've always disagreed that there is nothing to be learned from the appearance and demeanor that someone puts forth to you. That is not to say that you can just hear about a person, hear that he's black, and then say that you know what to expect of him. But when you SEE a person's appearance and demeanor, you can tell plenty about him, especially if your skills at doing so are honed; police do this all the time, I'm sure. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  10. I've always thought this was a nutty position to take. Go back far enough, and even their ancestors may have come over from somewhere. What's the point? Who decides how far back we go for every area in the world to define "original" inhabitants? 5 years? 5000 thousand years? People all over the world bitch about the U.S. and how our settlers killed off the Indians. How exactly does that differ from any other area of Europe where an invading army came in, was superior to, and displaced the army and the population of the preceding inhabitants? Are the people who now live in England the same ones who were always there? How about Spain? Germany? Italy? Didn't Moors come through those areas and in some cases make the land theirs? And Saxons, and Gauls, etc. They went around pillaging and taking what was not theirs. Somewhere in all that mess were groups of people who are akin to the American Indians, who have a right to be indignant that they are not still left to their land. Or DO they have a right to be indignant? Losers lose, right? When there's a conflict, if you lose, that's what happens. All of that aside, I think it's really funny when something goes down and it's perpetrated by people of one distinguishable ethnicity and people scream and flail about claiming it has nothng to do with ethnicity. What the fuck is it, then, coincidence?! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  11. No SHIT! Kinda hard for people to make a good living when some warlord with a private army of murderers takes everything worth having. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  12. Let's see the liberals support making "one exception" to the burden of proof and who bears it, and then wait for the torrent of additional "exceptions" that will follow. This is gonna be a lot of fun to watch!
  13. Now, would that be abuse BY or abuse OF moderators? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  14. Drowning doesn't seem like it would be that bad, actually. I've come close two or three times while kayaking. I actually found myself thinking, "Ah, well, maybe this is the time I don't make it up for air. Well, it's possible that someone'll drag me onto shore and resuscitate me..." Yep, all sorts of thoughts were going through my head while I was trying to hold my breath -- more and clearer than you'd expect would happen in a short period of time like that. I'd rather drown, I think, than run out of food or air or water, or freeze to death. I'm not answering the poll. I think it's in questionable taste. I hope they come back safe. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  15. It isn't that dangerous over here, either. But IF danger rears its head, it's best to be equipped to handle it, yes? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  16. OMFG! INARA!! (MORENA!!) Yep, the chicks from Firefly are hot, indeed. I've always been partial to the corn-fed horny innocence of Kaylee, though. And after the movie, now I'm hot for River as well. As far as Star Trek, the woman in the first movie was hot. And she was from some species that had to take an oath of celibacy to work for the Federation! Hubba Hubba!! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  17. Firarms... Is that like branches? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  18. Exactly. All it takes for a well-conducted and factually correct study to be "disputed" is for Sarah Brady to say, "Nuh uhhhh!" -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  19. It has to be that way so that the people who need them are able to get them. People like you, me, and anyone else who might sometime be victimized by a criminal. That means pretty much everybody. How could you make it easy for normal people to get guns but make it hard for "someone who really shouldn't have one"? We have instant background checks. We have laws that say if you're mentally incompetent or a drug abuser you can't have one. Beyond that, if you made it difficult for the "wrong people" to get guns, you'd also be making it unfairly and problematically difficult for good people to get them for defense. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  20. The big problem with anti-gunners citing these studies is that they: - count any time someone is killed by a gunshot as a "bad killing" -- and don't consider whether it was a bad person killed by a good person - DON'T COUNT any uses of a gun that stop a crime without killing the bad guy That's absurd. They want a dead criminal before they will consider that a gun was used to save someone. Hey, maybe they're onto something. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  21. Me, I've got arrows and scorched skin on my butt... -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  22. Some of us did a High Altituded Hop -n- Pop yesterday at Sebastian... On the way down, my breath would occasionally whisp back and fog my goggles. It's COLD at 13,000 feet even when it's 70-something on the ground! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  23. "Mad Libs" on crack and steroids at the same time. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
