Nothing to say regarding the points made in the "letter," even if it never was an actual letter to someone's sons? Who gives a shit what format it took? Will you dismiss everything it says just because it might not be a real "letter"? That's very smart. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Here's an even more timely one, from Led Zeppelin ("Celebration Day") She hears them talk of new ways to protect the home she lives in then she wonders what it's all about when they break down the door Her name is Brown or White or Black, you know her very well You hear her cries of "mercy" as the winners toll the bell My, my, my, I'm so happy, I'm gonna join the band, yeah We're gonna sing and dance in celebration A-we're in the promised land Oh, there is a train that leaves the station headed for your destination but the price you pay to nowhere has increased a dollar more Yes, it has And if you walk you're gonna get there although it takes just a little longer and when you see 'em in the distance you will wring your hands and moan How's that for spookily prescient? Plant foresaw (or maybe saw happening at the time) government promising safety even as it took away rights... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Bill, you make it so hard to hate you when you go quoting Roger Waters! When I saw this, I said, "OMFG, I'm not the only person on earth who has 'Amused To Death' -- and can quote it!" Hey, you forgot this gem: "You and I in a little toy shop buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got Set them free at the break of dawn til one by one, they were gone Back at base, bugs in the software flash the message, "Something's out there!" Floating in the summer sky 99 red balloons go by 99 red balloons floating in the summer sky Panic, birds, it's red alert There's something here from somewhere else The War Machine springs alive Opens up one eager eye Focusing it on the sky 99 red balloons go by 99 Decision Street 99 ministers meet to worry worry, super-scurry Call the troops out in a hurry! This is what we've waited for this is it, boys, this is War! The president is on the line as 99 red balloons go by 99 knights of the air ride super-high-tech jet fighters Every one's a super-hero Every one's a Captain Kirk with orders to identify to clarify and classify scramble in the summer sky 99 red balloons go by - 99 dreams I have had and every one a red balloon It's all over and I'm standing pretty in this dust that was a city If I could find a souvenir just to prove the world was here and here is a red balloon I think of you, and let it go..." And even Bob Marley got into it, with the holier-than-thou shit: "Have pity on those whose chances grows thinner There ain't no hidin' place from the Father of Creation!" Gonna give you the benefit of the doubt that you were joking, because if you weren't I'd have to ask why the hell you would stick your nose into someone else's business to try to be some sort of "tattletale." You were joking, right? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" -
Mustve been the same two who voted for FDR. Not picking on those two, but how could anyone think FDR was a bad Pres. I wouldn't care if everything else had gone well during his presidency (which it didn't): the fact that he took a huge shit on the Constitution and had people of Japanese descent (even with American citizenship) imprisoned without cause or charge, (while they lost their homes, businesses, lives) means that I hope he is rotting in the deepest recess of hell in eternal pain. That course of action can never be forgiven. I wonder if liberals forgive him this abomination even as they bitch and moan about suspected islamic terrorists being held in Guantanamo... Yeah, probably. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Stupid poll. How can it possibly be valid without providing for EVERY president we've had? Besides, this kind of value judgment poll baits people into deciding an "overall" good or bad factor that is just nonsensical and arbitrary. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Look, it's not an issue of how far and wide people end up hearing that she likes Michael Moore. It's what they decide to do or not do based on that knowledge. It is not necessarily a positive thing for HER, to have everyone know this and for the story to get more publicity. That would depend on how many people LIKE her for liking Moore, or DISLIKE her for liking Moore. It's not as simple as, "My story got out so that's good for me." - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

OOPS Sorry, it was I who didn't see that small paragraph about the defacing posters. My bad. BEER! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Where the fuck are you getting this "vandalized the property" shit?! Did you misread the article or something?! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
-
Agree with you, there. They had every right to kick her out based on that. The most despicable acts described in that article are those of the people commiting vandalism on the way out because she dedicated a song to someone. WTF are you talking about? In the "clicky" article, I saw NO MENTION of acts of vandalism by anyone. They said that people asked for their money back, and some walked out of the show. Clarify please. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
-
Then ya gotta love the Hotel using ITS right to kick her the fuck out for not knowing when it's APPROPRIATE to start shrieking your political views.

That doesn't appear to be true, if you include the soil clinging to root vegetables, and our own feces, as natural parts of our diet, and as being, loosely, "vegetarian." Dude, WHAT are you SAYING? If YOU want to go eating SOIL and your own FECES... um... knock yourself out. But to go offering that up as an argument for the viability of a human vegan diet... I'm sorry, it is an argument that falls kinda flat. This might explain why every so often I hear about people getting SALMONELLA from sprouts, green onions, and other vegetables. I don't know exactly what is meant by "veganically-grown" vegetables, though. I imagine that vegans forbid the use of animal manure for fertilizer? (Though god only knows the reason, if this is true. They think it exploits the animals to use their SHIT?) My feeling is, why go so nuts about a diet that is so hard to figure, so hard to live by, so hard to configure properly and safely, when chances are it is NOT going to have any guarantee of improving your life, health, or extending your lifespan by a significant degree. I just don't believe it is something you can pin down to "He lived to be 106 because he ate all this brown rice." They talk about asians living a long time, and they eat a lot of FISH in addition to their rice! I say that since our lifespans are so random and unpredictable anyway, just eat what tastes good and is enjoyable. No need to be a glutton: everything in moderation, and chances are you'll be alright. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

I refer the good gentleman to the thread opener. I was concerned that this could get to be a heated discussion. So far it's doing okay. Come on, someone tell someone else that only a moron would think that way about something, or at least a commie liberal! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... You must be a JVC fan, 'cause you don't say that the CLOSEUP of his JVC disc player bothered you! (spoilers) The movie isn't about robots! It's about prejudice and revolution of a working class of mindless drones that are slaves to societal laws. This might be so. What I got from it, though, was a statement on man's laziness, and dependency of labor-saving devices. I thought the prejudice thing was ancillary to the plot. Yes, interesting, but that wasn't what I took the movie to mostly be about. (See why I started this thread in S.C.?) Blue skies, -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Humans need protein. Meat is a good source of protein. People have been wearing skins and fur for how long? Besides, um, lots of other animals eat other animals in nature. Why is it, again, that humans should be the only animals not allowed to eat other animals? We ARE able to DIGEST them, you know; that's a fair indication that nature fully intends us to eat them! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
-
They are NOT a live-and-let-live bunch no matter how you try to twist and distort the definition. If you eat animals, they do NOT accept your choice, and they do NOT respect your position. Period. They've made that abundantly clear. They are a live-and-let-live organization as long as you EXCLUDE PEOPLE in order to INCLUDE ANIMALS. And where did I say I torture animals?! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Wellll, I just got back from it, and aside from having to sit in a packed theater full of abject morons who couldn't -shut the hell up -turn off their cellular phones -oh, and shut the hell up I really enjoyed it. There were a few gratuitous parts that I didn't care for, but I liked it overall. No spoilers from me, here, but I want someone to explain that ending for me if you would be so kind. Maybe I'm thick, maybe it was obtuse, or maybe a bit of both, but it went right by me... And yeah, I posted this in Speakers Corner to save a mod the trouble of relocating it once it gets heated. (And it will: all I have to do is say, "Where the fuck did Chicagoans get machine guns in 2036?? Didn't gun control work by then?!") Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... I'm sure SNL is gonna be all over that one. -C. Puhlease. Our newspaper already did a special page on that one. It's brand new and it's already tired. Besides, SNL does funny like old people fuck. If you want comedy these days, you have to go to Mad TV for it. They rock! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

How DARE you trivialize the enslavement, torture, and cold filtering murder of all those defenseless yeast?! You heartless bastard! Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Tolerance? When was the last time you saw a skydiver assault someone and destroy his property just because, say, the person disagreed with the other's philosophy? Well, PETA does that, remember? Like when they throw paint on people who are wearing fur? This is the kind of shit that they get behind. They're an irrational bunch of whackos, and I don't have much of a problem with giving them a hard time. THEY ARE NOT A LIVE AND LET LIVE BUNCH. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Even though I'm a big fan of simplicity of form and function, I prefer autos. I think that for the most part, the ergonomics of revolver grips are not as good as most autos. It seems to me that progress has been sort of forsaken when it comes to revolver grips -- not the material, because they have some good grippy, recoil-absorbent stuff, but the shape of them. They're kind of an archaic shape. Autos, on the other hand, seem to be built from the ground up to have good, comfortable grips. Also, revolvers tend to be top-heavy, since the ammo is held above the grip hand, unlike down in the grip for autos. The sight picture on a revolver is sooo far above the typical auto's sight picture, too. People talk about revolvers being more reliable, but I (not being an expert, mind you) feel that apart from feeding issues (stoppages in autos), there are just as many crucial things that can break in a revolver and leave it useless. Don't let the solid look of its frame fool you: inside a revolver are all kinds of pins and springs that are not 100% break-proof. That said, I still do want a .44 mag. Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

So trustworthy that she blabbed to you a story that was told to her off the record. Oooh, now it's punishment to vote for Bush! You wouldn't happen to be one of those liberals who wants the country to fail miserably just because it's not being led by your preferred lying scumbag, but our preferred lying scumbag, would you? I mean, it seems that from 2000 til today, all the Liberals have done is pray for economic, social, and political disaster for our country just because they're so psychotically bitter about losing the 2000 election. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Why is it mandatory that I share common ground with you just because others did? Regarding your example, no, this has nothing to do with "a Republican would never have done that." Someone already pointed out the confluence of factors regarding the source, nature, and possible motivation for this story about Bush, and each of those means an additional reason to be skeptical of the story before swallowing it hook, line and sinker. What I'm saying is that plausible does not mean "should be believed until proved otherwise." But it looks as though people are doing exactly that. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind...
